Opis:
The main goal of the article is to present the current stage of work on the Spontaneity - Reactivity Scale (S-RS). The Scale serves as an assessment of the extent to which children in preschool and younger school age are ready to learn under the guidance of a teacher. The increase in reactivity of the child and the decline of his spontaneity is regarded as an indicator of readiness. In the course of work on Scale it turned out that its positions are grouped around two non-orthogonal factors: the level of socialization of the will and the level of operating in the field of attention. Theoretical and psychometric analysis confirmed both the validity and reliability of the tool. Validity was estimated by confirmation analysis with good model fit to the data (CFI = 0.932; TLI = 0.920; RMSEA = 0.074 [0,069-0,079]; SRMR = 0.054; AGFI = 0.894) and on the basis of relations with contextual variables (positive correlation with age r = 0.47, p <0.001; higher scores of girls: F (1, 917) = 34.51, p <0.001). The reliability with the Cronbach’s coefficient also reached a satisfactory level: full scale alpha = 0.92 [0,91-0,94], for subscales, respectively 0.86 and 0.92. The tool allows to diagnose children at an older age than in the group of 6-year olds, due to the lack of ceiling effect - the average results oldest children which we tested were at a level of 75% of full scale. In opinions of teachers and educators the Scale gained is a simple to use tool with easy to interpret the results.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of a study on the Polish version of the Generic Conspiracist Beliefs Scale (GCBS), which was designed to measure individual differences in conspiracist thinking (Brotherton, French, & Pickering; 2013). The Polish version of the scale had excellent internal consistency as measured by Cronbach alpha: .93. The Polish version also had excellent test-retest stability. To check the validity of the questionnaire, various tools were used to measure the characteristics that can be correlated with conspiracist thinking. As a result, it was found that conspiracist thinking is positively correlated with the external locus of control, the results obtained in the Scale of Belief in Zero-Sum Game and the results of the MMPI-2 Paranoia scale. It was also found that patients with paranoid personality disorder and paranoid schizophrenia had higher results on the adapted scale than healthy subjects. In sum, the Polish version of GCBS had satisfactory psychometric properties, which makes it useful for measuring conspiracist thinking.

Opis:
The term "memory distrust" describes a phenomenon in which individuals have a profound distrust of their own memory ability. This article presents the results of research on the Polish version of an instrument that was developed to measure trait memory distrust, the Squire Subjective Memory Questionnaire (SSMQ). A total of 1193 individuals were recruited at high schools, a university, and through online advertisements. The SSMQ was found to have satisfactory internal consistency, validity, and test-retest reliability. Trusting one's memory was correlated with more favorable and beneficial traits, like hedonic tone, energetic arousal, self-efficacy, and positivity, while memory distrust was related to tense arousal and compliance. Mediation analyses revealed that memory distrust affects various individual traits via lowered self-esteem. The results confirmed that the Polish version of the SSMQ can be a useful screening tool for differentiating between people who do and do not suffer from memory distrust, and thus, for identifying witnesses who are prone to memory distortions.

Opis:
The aim of this work is to study the effect of drug mebikar on the clinical manifestations of hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver cirrhosis. The study involved 34 patients with cirrhosis of different etiologies. The average age of the examined patients was (48.5±0.9) years, that prevailed patients of working age, indicating the medical and social significance of the problem of early diagnosis and adequate treatment of cirrhosis. One of the most frequent complications of cirrhosis is hepatic encephalopathy. In addition to conventional clinical and laboratory findings in patients with liver cirrhosis, severities of hepatic encephalopathy were determined according to West-Haven criteria before and after treatment. In patients with liver cirrhosis was established the presence of latent or clinically expressed hepatic encephalopathy. The treatment of the control group of patients consisted of the following drugs: essential phospholipids, mixture of sorbitol and major ions, arginine glutamate, furosemide, verospiron, lactulose, amoxicillin trihydrate and lansoprazole. In the complex treatment of the main group of patients medicine mebikar was administered additionally. Analysis of the clinical manifestations of hepatic encephalopathy showed a marked improvement in patients who received additional treatment with mebikar. Specifically, the incidences of mood changes as well as anxiety decreased in this group on average of 38% compared with those patients without an additional treatment with mebikar. Also, sleep disturbances in the main group was observed to be lower by 7.2% compared to those in the control group. Inclusion in the treatment of patients with liver cirrhosis, the drug mebikar – a daytime tranquilizer with anxiolytic properties reduces neurotic disorders, improves emotional state which may indicate a regression in the manifestations of hepatic encephalopathy thereby improving the quality of life of patients and thus substantiating an expedient inclusion of mebikar an anxiolytic drug to the complex therapy of patients with liver cirrhosis.

Opis:
In general, it is beneficial and adaptive to have high self-esteem; however, contingent self-esteem depending on approval is not so advantageous. This article presents research on a Polish version of the Contingent Self-Esteem Scale (CSES), which measures contingent self-esteem. The CSES was administered on a total of 1,199 participants; a range of other instruments were also used to establish the validity of the CSES. The CSES proved to have acceptable internal consistency and validity and factor analyses revealed that it contains four factors: vulnerability to negative opinions, dependence on physical attractiveness, dependence on opinions, and dependence on self-standards. Contingent self-esteem was positively correlated with neuroticism, agreeableness, ruminating, anxiety, and maladaptive perfectionism; it was negatively correlated with general self-esteem and self-efficacy. Mediational analyses confirmed the hypothesis that low general self-esteem causes high rumination about oneself, which in turn is related to high contingent self-esteem.

Opis:
The Courage Measure (CM), developed by Norton and Weiss (2009) has proved to be a significant predictor of a behavioral approach in a fear-eliciting situation. The current research project aimed to replicate this result, using a shortened version of the scale, whose psychometric superiority over the full version has been supported by previous studies. For this purpose, in Study 1 the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the CM (CM-PL) were analyzed; the results supported its unidimensional structure and measurement invariance across gender groups, as well as good internal consistency. Study 1 also provided preliminary evidence of the convergent, concurrent and divergent validity of CM-PL, showing its relation to resilience, grit, risk-taking and the Big Five personality traits. In Study 2, 31 participants with an elevated fear of spiders completed a behavioral approach test in which they moved ever closer to a display of taxidermied spiders. The results showed that the CM-PL significantly moderated the relationship between anxiety/distress and the behavioral approach, confirming its relation to real behavior. Overall, the results confirmed that CM-PL is a valuable measure that can be useful in scientific research and psychological practice (i.e., counseling and psychotherapy).

Opis:
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of the Polish version of the Workplace PERMA-Profiler (WPP). Our work was guided by Martin Seligman’s perspective on positive psychology, emphasizing well-being as its central theme, flourishing as the gold standard for measuring well-being, and the ultimate goal of increasing flourishing. According to his PERMA model, flourishing encompasses five key elements: positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment. The WPP is a tool specifically designed to measure this construct in the workplace context. Polish workers completed online surveys at the initial measurement (N = 1070). In addition, a group of working adults (N = 66) took part in a survey with a repeated measure diagnosing measurement stability. Flourishing, perceived stress, and work satisfaction were measured for comparisons of convergent validity, while zero-sum belief was measured for divergent validity. The reliability indices of the Polish version of the WPP met the minimum reliability requirements, and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated that the five-factor model (contrasted to the single-factor model) achieved the desired goodness-of-fit properties. The WPP also demonstrated convergent validity through strong interrelationships with related constructs and strong stability. Obtaining satisfactory psychometric properties of the Polish version of the WPP enabled the conduction of additional type of exploratory analyzes focused on the relationship between workplace flourishing and the efforts aimed at building employee well-being undertaken by the organization where the respondents work. The study revealed a positive, moderate relationship between employees’ flourishing and the evaluation of organizational practices for increasing employee well-being.
