Opis:
Purpose The main objective of this research is to study the effect of damping coefficients on the damping strength of shock absorbers using Taguchi Design Experiment (DOE) and rough surface method in Design Expert 7.0.0. Design/methodology/approach To achieve and measure the damping force based on the data analysis in the design program. The effecting parameters are: damping diameter (A), gas pressure nitrogen in damping (B), and suspension velocity(C). Consequently, the experiment was carried out in the lab to measure the damping force based on the data analysis. Findings The experimental results demonstrated that nitrogen gas at a pressure of 40 bars is appropriate for dealing with motorcycles and that optimum parameter values may be achieved using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), regression analysis, and confirmation studies. Research limitations/implications The measure of the damping force in this process widely depend on the technical specifications of a testing machine. Consequently, machine operating parameters consider the main limiting factor in this process. Practical implications In this current work, a steel spring of (50) mm diameter has been used in this experimental investigation to measure the influence of the damping force based on the data analysis. In addition, optimal working parameter values that maximize the performance were identified. The experimental test was planned and conducted according to the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Originality/value The validation of experimental results shows that this analysis gives an average error 5%, it’s also concluded that the gas at a pressure of 40 bars is appropriate for dealing with motorcycles and can be adopted safely.

Opis:
Naturally, refractory gold is enclosed by sulfide minerals such as pyrite and arsenopyrite and a higher content of organic carbon, which results in difficulty in the recovery of gold. In this study, the flotation gold concentrate before and after pressure oxidation (POX) was analyzed. The analysis of the Eh-pH diagram revealed that pyrite/arsenopyrite would be dissolved in higher oxidation potential. Results of SEM-EDS showed that the surface of minerals became very rough and structure of some particles was destroyed after POX. The XRD measurement showed that pyrite was oxidized to jarosite, and gangue minerals such as quartz and organic carbon were hardly changed. The process of thiosulfate leaching of gold was designed and optimized according to Miscellaneous implemented by Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Based on the results of ANOVA, leaching model was significant. In leaching, [S2O32-] played an important role and the interactions between [S2O32-] and [Cu2+] were significant. The effect of [HA] was relatively weak. Optimum process parameters of the initial reagent concentration were 505.00 mM for [S2O32-], 34.77 mM for [Cu2+], and 0.50 mM for [HA]. Under these conditions, the Au extraction value was about 86.21%, which was significantly higher than that obtained with leaching directly.

Opis:
This paper explores the parametric appraisal and machining performance optimization during drilling of polymer nanocomposites reinforced by graphene oxide/-carbon fiber. The consequences of drilling parameters like cutting velocity, feed, and weight % of graphene oxide on machining responses, namely surface roughness, thrust force, torque, delamination (In/Out) has been investigated. An integrated approach of a Combined Quality Loss concept, Weighted Principal Component Analysis (WPCA), and Taguchi theory is proposed for the evaluation of drilling efficiency. Response surface methodology was employed for drilling of samples using the titanium aluminum nitride tool. WPCA is used for aggregation of multi-response into a single objective function. Analysis of variance reveals that cutting velocity is the most influential factor trailed by feed and weight % of graphene oxide. The proposed approach predicts the outcomes of the developed model for an optimal set of parameters. It has been validated by a confirmatory test, which shows a satisfactory agreement with the actual data. The lower feed plays a vital role in surface finishing. At lower feed, the development of the defect and cracks are found less with an improved surface finish. The proposed module demonstrates the feasibility of controlling quality and productivity factors.

Opis:
Electrocoagulation (EC) can be defined a method utilized to remove pollutants from wastewater by applying an electric current to sacrificial electrodes. Many experimental variables like NaCl content (0–4 g/l), current density (5–25 mA/cm2), time (30–90 mins), and pH (4–10) that influence the removal efficiency regarding COD were considered. In the presented research, three distinct configurations related to electrodes, i.e. Al-Al, Fe-Al, and Fe-Fe, have been utilized to determine which was the most effective. RSM depending on BBD was utilized for optimizing various operational parameters with regard to HWW by use of EC. Maximum COD removal (97.9%) was reached at Fe-Al electrodes, NaCl (3.2 g/l), current density (24.7 mA/cm2), time (81.7 mins), and pH (7.4). COD removal (91.3%) was achieved at the Al-Al electrodes, NaCl (3.8 g/l), current density(23.5 mA/cm2), time-86.3 min, and Ph (7.7). At the Fe-Fe electrodes, the removal of COD (89.5%) was obtained at NaCl (2.3 g/l), current density (24.6 mA/cm2), pH 8.5, and time (86.9 min). This indicates that EC could remove pollutants from different types of wastewaters under many operating parameters and with arrangements of electrodes.

Opis:
The development of industry is determined by the use of modern materials in the production of parts and equipment. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the use of nickel-based superalloys in the aerospace, energy and space industries. Due to their properties, these alloys belong to the group of materials hard-to-machine with conventional methods. One of the non-conventional manufacturing technologies that allow the machining of geometrically complex parts from nickel-based superalloys is electrical discharge machining. The article presents the results of experimental investigations of the impact of EDM parameters on the surfaces roughness and the material removal rate. Based on the results of empirical research, mathematical models of the EDM process were developed, which allow for the selection of the most favourable processing parameters for the expected values of the surface roughness Sa and the material removal rate.

Opis:
Introduction: Ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) is a common spice and precious herbal plant in Vietnam. It contains many bioactive compounds, especially phenolic compounds useful for human health. Hence, the extraction and application of these compounds in medical technology are necessary. Objective: The goal of this study is to determine the optimal extraction conditions with the assistance of microwave, for instance solvent/material ratio (ml/g), solvent concentration (%, v/v) and extraction time, on the extraction yield of ginger rhizome, such as total polyphenol content (TPC) and antioxidant capacity (AC). Methods: The dried sample was extracted by microwave-assisted extraction (MAE). TPC and AC of received extract were measured by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and phenanthroline assay. The optimization process used response surface methodology (RSM) (Central composite face design, CCF) with major influencing factors including solvent concentration, solvent/material ratio and extraction time. Results: The results showed that the optimal extraction conditions were the ethanol concentration of 60%, ethanol/material ratio of 48.6/1 (ml/g), extraction time of 1 minute. Conclusion: The maximum TPC and AC peaked at 27.89±1.99 mg GAE/g dry matter and 12.24±0.04 mmol Fe/g dry matter (DM) at optimal extraction conditions. Besides, some factors strongly affected the extraction yield and interacted together.

Opis:
Optimized, effective and efficient methodology has been determined in this research work for the recovery of starch from potatoes. Potato starch extraction experimental results have been utilized for the parametric optimization study by using different statistical techniques. In this research work, starch extraction was conducted by employing cellulase enzyme. Response surface methodology (RSM) was put to use to perform statistical analysis to get optimum results. Five-level central composite design (CCD) consisting of three parameters was implemented to investigate the effect of enzyme concentration, contact time and broth dilution. Experiment results revealed that increment in enzyme concentration and contact time enhanced the starch recovery while dilution showed the inverse relation on the recovery of starch. Optimum starch recovery was achieved upto 89% when enzyme concentration (0.5 g/100 g) of potato meal was diluted with 10 mL of water and mixed for 4 h at 45°C.

Opis:
In view of the existing double-layer linear vibrating screen, the screen surface inclination angle is basically parallel design. This paper puts forward a double-layer non-parallel and relatively independent vibrating screen. Experimental prototype of double-layer relatively independent vibrating screen under variable parameters was manufactured to verify the feasibility of simulations. This paper applied the single-factor tests to establish relationships between screening parameters of double-layer non-parallel and relatively independent vibrating screen and screening performance. What’s more, the combination of screening parameters was optimized using the response surface method (RSM). The optimal combination after the round is as follow: vibration frequency 35 Hz, the angle of eccentric block 14.2°, the inclination of the upper screen 14.6° and the inclination of the lower screen 8.8°.

Opis:
The weighting factors method and the response surface methodology are used to achieve multi-objective optimization of a dielectric layer photonic crystal filter. The size of period and the transmission quantity are considered simultaneously and a multi-objective optimization model of filter is established, which takes the size of period and transmission quantity to be minimized in stop-band as objectives. Global approximate expressions of the objective and the constraint functions are found by response surface methodology. Then the weighting factors method is employed to convert the model into a quadratic programming model and the optimal parameters can be obtained using sequence quadratic programming. Examples provide the optimized results in three different weight coefficients. The effect of the weighting factors on the value of the objective function is also discussed. Results show that the present method is precise and efficient for multi-objective optimization of a dielectric layer photonic crystal filter.

Opis:
The work investigated the effect on wire offset and surface morphology, with input process parameters as peak current, pulse on time, wire tension over Die Steel D3. Some of experiments were performed by using response surface methodology (RSM) as the design of experiment with central composite design (CCD) technique for the analysis. The ANOVA results annotate that the model is significant. Wire Tension and peak current are observed to have major impact on wire offset during machining operation and surface morphology. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) images confirmed that the thermal stresses produced during the machining of the workpiece resulted in the development of microcracks, craters and spherical module. Due to higher thermal gradient i.e., higher peak current and pulse on-time larger cracks and melted deposits were observed.
