Opis:: The aim of the article is to introduce the legal framework of Polish repatriation policy and evaluate the national repatriation program. The first section of the paper reviews Polish repatriation law, with main focus on the Repatriation Act. Next, the author presents the outcomes of the repatriation program (mainly the issues related to social adaptation and financial assistance), its main obstacles and drawbacks. In the final section the proposals for revision of repatriation policy (legislative initiatives and experts’ proposals) are discussed.

"Polityka rządu japońskiego wobec repatriantów z Mandżurii w latach 80 i 90 XX wieku".

Opis:: This thesis describes the history of women and children left behind in China, from the era of the Japanese colonization of Manchuria till the compensation awarded by the Japanese government. The purpose of this thesis is to show how the Japanese government contributed to the suffering of repatriates from Manchuria. The hardships of civilians, who emigrated to Manchuria after the colonization in 1932, started during the Soviet invasion in 1945. Children, who were adopted by Chinese families and women, who survived by marrying Chinese men, had no opportunity to repatriate for over 27 years. Because during their repatriation the Japanese government treated them as foreigners, they had to meet various conditions before they could return to their homeland. Moreover, the government did not provide them with adequate means of settlement and self-sufficiency in Japan, such as a sufficient Japanese language training. Frustrated by the lack of decent life possibilities, repatriates decided to file a civil lawsuit against the Japanese government, accusing it of neglecting its obligations with regard to women and children left behind in China. In the end, in 2007, the Japanese prime minister officially apologized to repatriates form Manchuria for the treatment they have received from the Japanese government.
W niniejszej pracy opisano historię kobiet i dzieci pozostawionych w Chinach od kolonizacji Mandżurii przez Japonię, aż po rekompensatę przyznaną im przez rząd japoński. Celem pracy jest ukazanie, w jaki sposób rząd japoński przyczynił się do cierpień repatriantów z Mandżurii. Niedola cywili, którzy wyemigrowali do Mandżurii po jej kolonizacji w 1932 roku, rozpoczęła się podczas inwazji rosyjskiej w 1945 roku. Grupa kobiet i dzieci, które zachowały życie podczas tej inwazji dzięki małżeństwom z Chińczykami i adopcji przez chińskie rodziny, nie miała możliwości do repatriacji przez ponad 27 lat. Podczas ich repatriacji rząd japoński traktował je jako obcokrajowców, przez co musiały spełnić wiele warunków, aby powrócić do swojego kraju. Rząd nie zapewnił im także odpowiednich warunków do osiedlenia się w Japonii, między innymi nie gwarantując wystarczającego szkolenia z języka japońskiego. Sfrustrowani brakiem możliwości godnego życia, repatrianci postanowili zbiorowo złożyć pozew sądowy przeciwko rządowi japońskiemu, oskarżając go o zaniedbanie swoich obowiązków względem kobiet i dzieci pozostawionych w Chinach. Ostatecznie, w 2007 roku premier Japonii oficjalnie przeprosił repatriantów z Mandżurii za to, jak zostali potraktowani przez rząd japoński.

Opis:: The article presents the current situation of the Syrian-Armenians, who at the same time as refugees and repatriates obtained refuge in Armenia. The article discusses the processes of assimilation of Syrian-Armenians in a new cultural environment. The main goal of the article is to answer the following research questions: to what extent the cultural capital of the diaspora from pre-migration times is reorganized in the new cultural conditions of the host country, how the processes of adaptation and integration of Syrian-Armenians in Armenia are going through and what problems they encounter in the process of cultural assimilation. The empirical data used in this article were collected during the ethnological research in September 2016 in Armenia.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to provide key statistical data concerning Polish repatriation policy and the repatriation process. The author begins with information on the total number of people of Polish descent who were repatriated under the Repatriation Act, the repatriates’ place of settlement in Poland and their household structure. The next section looks at the financial support from the state budget granted to the repatriates, the local governments organizing repatriation and employers offering jobs to repatriates. In the final section the author examines the factors that stimulate repatriation to Poland.

Na wskaźniki demograficzne (współczynnik dzietności, współczynnik umieralności, współczynnik migracji) mają wpływ uwarunkowania ekonomiczne i społeczne. Różne polityki pronatalistyczne en masse są nieskuteczne. Społeczeństwa [państw] UE są skoncentrowane na innych oczekiwaniach niż macierzyństwo. Wspomniane zmiany będą wymagały nowych działań władz państwowych w obszarze demografii.

Opis:: This article reviews the adaptation process of people of Polish origin repatriated from the former Soviet Union. In the beginning the author introduces a legal and sociopolitical background of repatriation, as well as the social adaptation process. Next, this process is analysed in the light of empirical data obtained on the basis of two nationwide studies conducted among repatriates by the Institute of Social Policy, University of Warsaw. The main focus is placed on their first impressions upon arrival, however the main obstacles and assessment of their repatriation are also discussed. The summary contains a typology of immigrant groups against the background of their social adaptation.
