Opis:: The article shows the main results of experimental research flexible rod composite reinforced concrete structure with sheet steel framework. When conducting experimental studies of researched the peculiarities of constructions under load and nature loss bearing capacity composite reinforced concrete structure samples with external steel framework with steel plates depending on the eccentricity application of efforts. Common to all samples is that under load was hogging the long axis of the element. This led to an uneven distribution of longitudinal deformations in reinforcement sheet, and accordingly, the wrinkles were formed by the opposite direction of bending. The results showed that the compressed-noncentral elements as limiting load advisable to take two values: the first corresponds to the limit efforts to achieve the most intense fiber sheet reinforcing fluidity limits of steel; second – the moment destruction test sample in which there is intense curvature of the longitudinal axis.

Opis:: The structure and the magnetic and magnetotransport properties of the perovskite sample Sr_0.9Y_0.1CoO_2.63 have been studied using different diffraction methods and magnetization and conductivity measurements. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction shows that the sample is structurally two-phase. The majority phase has a tetragonally distorted unit cell and is described by the space group I4/mmm. A very strongly broadened superstructure peak observed at small angles in X-ray diffraction patterns at temperatures below 400 K are explained by the existence of a monoclinic phase with large unit cell whose phase fraction is much smaller than that of the tetragonal phase, but which is dominant in the sample Sr_0.8Y_0.2CoO_2.65. The spontaneous magnetization strongly increases with increasing the Y content up to 20% due to formation of the monoclinic phase. The magnetic structure is predominantly antiferromagnetic G-type with magnetic moments 1.5 μB in the layers of CoO₆ octahedra and 2 μB in the anion-deficient CoO_4+γ layers. The electrical conductivity of the sample Sr_0.9Y_0.1CoO_2.63 has semiconducting character. The magnetoresistance reaches 58% for the field B = 14 T at 5 K and decreases strongly with the increasing temperature and Y content.
Struktura i właściwości magnetyczne i magnetotransportowe perowskitu Sr_0.9Y_0.1CoO_2.63 zostały zbadane przy użyciu różnych metod dyfrakcyjnych oraz pomiarów namagnesowania i przewodnictwa. Dyfrakcja rentgenowska mierzona na synchrotronie pokazuje, że próbka ma strukturę dwufazową. Główna faza ma tetragonalnie zniekształconą komórkę elementarną i jest opisana przez grupę przestrzenną I4 /mmm. Pik o bardzo mocno poszerzonej superstrukturze obserwowano pod niewielkimi kątami w dyfraktogramach rentgenowskich w temperaturach poniżej 400 K i jest związany z istnieniem fazy monoklinowej o dużej komórce elementarnej, której frakcja fazowa jest znacznie mniejsza niż faza tetragonalna, ale która jest dominujący w próbce Sr_0.8Y_0.2CoO_2.65. Spontaniczne namagnesowanie silnie wzrasta wraz ze wzrostem zawartości Y do 20% z powodu tworzenia się fazy monoklinowej.

Opis:: We are interested in the problem of describing compact solvmanifolds admitting symplectic and Kählerian structures. This was first considered in [3, 4] and [7]. These papers used the Hattori theorem concerning the cohomology of solvmanifolds hence the results obtained covered only the completely solvable case}. Our results do not use the assumption of complete solvability. We apply our methods to construct a new example of a compact symplectic non-Kählerian solvmanifold.

Opis:: A new T-type connection structure consisting of composite sandwich plates, reinforced cores and adhesive was proposed for the construction of lightweight ships to resolve connection problems between bulkheads and decks of composite lightweight ship superstructures. Based on the design principles and mechanical properties of composite structures, the mechanical behaviour of the structure under a dangerous loading condition was investigated. In addition, the ultimate bearing capacities and damage modes were examined, the results of which demonstrated that the strength of the structure is weak, and that the adhesive and reinforced core between the face plate and the web plate is the primary weakness of the structure. A numerical simulation method was verified using the results of the mechanical tests, and five characteristic paths at the connection area were established. The stresses and displacements along the five paths were calculated using the numerical method. Then, variations in the geometric parameter and the strength and weight of the connection were summarised. The optimal angle of the adhesive bonding area is approximately 60°, which supports the optimal design and practical application of the lightweight ship adhesive-bonded connection structure.

Tytuł:: Structural role of hydrophobic core in proteins-selected examples

Opis:: This paper discusses the sequence/structure relation. The core question concerns the degree to which similar sequences produce similar structures and vice versa. A mechanism by which similar sequences may result in dissimilar structures is proposed, based on the Fuzzy Oil Drop (FOD) model in which structural similarity is estimated by analyzing the protein’s hydrophobic core. We show that local changes in amino acid sequences, in addition to producing local structural alterations at the substitution site, may also change the shape of the hydrophobic core, significantly affecting the overall tertiary conformation of the protein. Our analysis focuses on four sets of proteins: 1) Pair of designer proteins with specially prepared sequences; 2) Pair of natural proteins modified (mutated) to converge to a point of high-level sequence identity while retaining their respective wild-type tertiary folds; 3) Pair of natural proteins with common ancestry but with differing structures and biological profiles shaped by divergent evolution; and 4) Pair of natural proteins of high structural similarity with no sequence similarity and different biological function.

Opis:: During the period of the socialist regime Oradea played the role of an important industrial and administrative centre. Nowadays, Oradea, with its over 200 thousand citizens can be a good example of the system, in terms of the economic and social transformation process. The processes, which take place in Oradea, had a typical run, characteristic for multi - ethnic cities. The border location of Oradea is conductive to an intermingling of ideas, people, capital and the western style of life, which triggers faster changes compared to the other Romanian cities of Banat, Crisana, Maramures and Transylvania. This paper attempts to analyze the changes in terms of ethnicity, language, religion within the city and show the process of social structural changes of Oradea. The range of changes along with the process existing before seems to deepen. On the one hand, the process of Hungarian, German and Jewish minorities’ migration is clearly seen. The negative rate of birth and the negative balance of the external migration equalise the internal migration only to a small extent, which in this case includes mainly the Romanians and the Roma population. The new investments, mainly with external capital allowed the city to develop widespread and increase the life standard. A proper city policy in terms of euro- regional co-operation allows Oradea to engage in many investments, which are also common for the Hungarian side and triggers a better development of the city. We should also take into consideration an educational improvement thanks to which the city became the most important and the largest study centre in the north-western part of the country. A very crucial alternation took place in the industry and service branches. The percentage of workers employed in mining activities and power companies decreased and the percentage of workers employed in education, tourism and trade has increased. The very convenient location of the communication ways, at the junction of transport roads, make the city an important communications’ centre as well.

Opis:: This article describes the studies of the mechanical properties of the martensitic structure of C45 steel, obtained as a result of heat treatment. This steel was subjected to high tempering, within the temperature range of 500 ÷ 700°C (every 50°C) and for various exposure times, from 15 minutes to 23 hours. Moreover, martensitic steel was subjected to tests by quenching at a temperature of 850°C for 20 minutes and then tempering it for 1 hour, within the temperature range of 50 ÷ 800°C (every 50°C). The resulting steel samples were subjected to strength tests, that is, to tensile and hardness tests and also to tests on the micro-structure. The results of these studies are presented and discussed, in detail, in terms of their practical application.

Opis:: Several novel techniques have been combined to improve protein structure prediction, structural refinement and quality assessment of protein models. We discuss in brief the development of four-body potentials that take into account dense packing and cooperativity of interactions of proteins, and its success. We have developed a method that uses whole protein information filtered through machine learning to score protein models based on their likeness to native structure. Here we consider electrostatic interactions and residue depth, and use these for structure prediction. These potentials were tested to be successful in CASP9 and CASP10. We have also developed a Quality Assessment technique, MQAP single, which is a quasi-single-model MQAP, by combining advantages of both “pure” single-model MQAPs and clustering MQAP s. This technique can be used in ranking and assessing the absolute global quality of single protein models. This model (Pawlowski-Kloczkowski) was ranked 3rd in Model Quality Assessment in CASP 10. Consideration of protein flexibility and its fluctuation dynamics improves protein structure prediction and leads to better refinement of computational models of proteins. Here we also discuss how Anisotropic Network Model (ANM) of protein fluctuation dynamics and Go-like model of energy score can be used for novel protein structure refinement.

Opis:: The objective of the article is to examine the approximative and adjustive uses of the verb dire, which is mostly regarded as an assertive and eventful verb; hence nonapproximative. Meanwhile, in many expressions, in an impersonal use, in negation when the subjunctive mode is used, in the conditional forms, its evidence value is weakened and the verb dire can express approximation. The study is situated in light of the enunciation theory, notably it refers to a notion of modalisation. The corpus was established on the basis of dictionaries, which are representative for normative uses, but we will refer as well to press texts, particularly interviews, where the verb say is frequently used as a marker of the position of the speaker.
