Opis:: The Klein et al. Unidimensional Target neutral (K.U.T.) commitment measure is a promising short self-report measure forming a counterpoint to the popular multidimensional approach to the assessment of commitment. The goals of the present study were to examine the construct reliability, convergent, discriminant, an incremental validity; and the measurement invariance (sex, education, job position) of the Polish version of K.U.T. The scale was evaluated using a sample of adults working for Polish organizations. Confirmatory factor analyses confirm original structure of the K.U.T.-PL and its measurement reliability and validity. Moreover, performed analysis showed that K.U.T.-PL was invariant across sex, education, and job position group. In conclusion, the findings confirm that the Polish adaptation of the K.U.T. presents solid psychometric properties and initial evidence of validity.

Opis:: A player’s subjective interaction with a digital game is referred to as player experience. The consequence of playing a game affects a player’s thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and behaviours. To measure player experience there are various qualitative and quantitative methods. Iterative game development and play testing sessions enhance and optimize game designs, to determine the impact of functional and psychosocial consequences of gaming in various cultures, a credible scale is required. To be able to measure and analyse player experience, this study aimed at adapting the ‘Player Experience Inventory’ (PXI) scale developed by V. V. Abeele1 to Turkish. The results of test-retest analysis and backand-forth translation demonstrate that linguistic equivalence is not applicable for the Turkish variant. Only one item for functional – audio-visual appeal – and two items from psychosocial – immersion and autonomy – consequence of gaming have a proper factor structure. In this way an adaption study was carried out by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and explanatory factor analysis (EFA) with three items from the scale. The validity and reliability of the scale and relationship of audio-visual appeal of gaming on game enjoyment were tested and this article proposes a model for the functional and psychosocial consequences of gaming.

Opis:: Purpose – The article aims to present the results of adapting the team boosting behaviors (TBB) scale to Polish cultural conditions and validating it. Design/methodology/approach – The research methodology consisted of three steps. In the first step, I translated the TBB scale into Polish using a rigorous back-translation method. Next, to assess content validity, nine domain experts reviewed the initial version of the instrument for clarity and relevance. Finally, I applied the scale to a sample of 532 team members and underwent thorough psychometric testing to assess construct validity. I employed structural equation modeling (SEM) with the partial least squares (PLS) factor-based algorithm technique for confirmatory factor analysis to assess the scale’s reliability and validity. Findings – After development, the Polish version of the TBB scale kept its three sub-scale structures. However, the validation process led to a slight reduction in the number of test items compared to the original scale. Research limitations/implications – The findings imply that the Polish version of the scale is a valid and reliable tool for assessing TBB. However, I recommend additional studies to confirm this instrument’s structure. Originality/value – The results confirmed the reliability and relevance of the tool for measuring TBBs in Polish cultural conditions. The tool provides the basis for implementing further research with the TBB construct in Poland and internationally.

Opis:: The article presents the Polish adaptation of the Workplace Social Courage Scale (WSCS). The scale measures social courage understood behaviorally as an act that is a) intentional, b) undertaken after reflection, c) altruistic, and d) exposing the actor to social costs in the form of loss of respect from others. The adaptation procedure was performed in two studies in which a total of 459 people were examined. In study 1, the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the WSCS scale (WSCS-PL) were verified. The results of the confirmatory analysis led to the exclusion of three of the 11 items on the scale. The shortened version of the WSCS-PL scale was further analyzed. The obtained results indicate satisfactory internal consistency of the scale, support the assumption of its one-factor structure and measure equivalence in groups differing by gender and age. In study 2, analyses were conducted, the results of which support the criterion, convergent, and discriminant validity of the WSCS-PL scale. The results of both studies justify the conclusion that the WSCS-PL scale is a tool with satisfactory psychometric properties that can be used in scientific research.
Artykuł prezentuje polską adaptację Skali Odwagi Społecznej w Pracy (Workplace Social Courage Scale, WSCS). Skala mierzy odwagę społeczną rozumianą behawioralnie jako akt a) intencjonalny, b) podjęty po namyśle, c) altruistyczny oraz d) narażający aktora na koszty społeczne w postaci utraty szacunku ze strony innych. Procedura adaptacyjna została przeprowadzona w dwóch badaniach, w których przebadano łącznie 459 osób. W badaniu 1 zweryfikowano własności psychometryczne polskiej wersji skali WSCS (WSCS-PL). Wyniki analizy konfirmacyjnej doprowadziły do wykluczenia trzech z 11 twierdzeń skali. Skróconą wersję skali WSCS-PL poddano dalszej analizie. Otrzymane rezultaty wskazują na satysfakcjonującą zgodność wewnętrzną skali, wspierają założenie o jej jednoczynnikowej strukturze oraz równoważności pomiarowej w grupach różniących się płcią i wiekiem. W badaniu 2 przeprowadzono analizy, których rezultaty wspierają trafność kryterialną oraz zbieżną i różnicową skali WSCS-PL. Wyniki obu przeprowadzonych badań uzasadniają wniosek, że skala WSCS-PL jest narzędziem o zadowalających własnościach psychometrycznych, które może być stosowane w badaniach naukowych.

Opis:: The main objective of this study was to analyse the psychometric properties of the Polish adaptation of the Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory – Revised (K-MPAI-R, Kenny, 2009) modified as the Kenny Performance Anxiety Inventory (K-PAI) for a general population of individuals with experience in public performance in fields other than music. Another aim was to test the factor structure of K-PAI on a Polish sample. We analysed the relationship between the scores on K-PAI and general anxiety, depression, attentional control, the scores on the Behavioural Inhibition Scale (BIS) and the Behavioural Activation Scale (BAS) and reward susceptibility. Participants (N = 586) completed the questionnaires in a wider online study. The scores on K-PAI revealed a moderate to strong positive association with different measures of anxiety, trait-anxiety in particular, and negative associations with attentional control and susceptibility to reward. K-PAI scores were strongly associated with depression, but displayed no relationship with the BAS or any of its sub-dimensions. These results generally replicated those obtained on the K-MPAI-R with Australian and Peruvian musicians, indicating the cross-cultural validity of the K-MPAI-R and K-PAI. It is suggested that performance anxiety develops on the basis of the biological predispositions and early negative experiences in performance contexts.

Opis:: W ostatnich latach zwraca się uwagę na fenomenologiczną jakość witalności. Konstrukt subiektywnej witalności jako marker dobrostanu psychicznego ma tę nad nim przewagę, że jest bardziej dostępny w doświadczeniu fenomenologicznym, jest niezależny od zewnętrznych kryteriów dobrostanu i różni się od innych konstruktów z tego obszaru (takich jak np. afekt pozytywny, zaangażowanie w pracę, flow czy satysfakcja z życia). Dotąd możliwość oceny subiektywnej witalności była w Polsce ograniczona, zatem przetestowano trafność i rzetelność polskiej wersji Skali subiektywnej witalności. W próbie 709 osób oceniono trafność czynnikową trzech wersji skali w języku polskim. Na podstawie α Cronbacha i mocy dyskryminacyjnej narzędzie można uznać za rzetelne. Przetestowano trafność skali w aspekcie zbieżnym i różnicowym na podstawie zależności subiektywnej witalności od innych konstruktów psychologicznych. Częściowo potwierdzono wartość predykcyjną satysfakcji z zaspokojenia potrzeb psychologicznych w ogóle i w odniesieniu do pracy. Analiza różnic międzygrupowych wykazała, że wynik subiektywnej witalności u osób chorych i zdrowych somatycznie był istotnie różny. Skalę subiektywnej witalności można uznać za narzędzie trafne i rzetelne. Zalecane jest stosowanie jej wersji 5-pozycyjnej.
In recent years, attention has been paid to the phenomenological quality of vitality. The construct of subjective vitality as a marker of psychological well-being has the advantage over it that it is more accessible in phenomenological experience, is independent of external well-being criteria, such as objective success, health, support or achievements, and goes beyond the semantically known constructs known in Poland, such as affect positive, commitment to work, flow or life satisfaction. Until now, the possibility of assessing subjective vitality was limited, so to fill this gap, the validity and reliability of the Polish version of the Subjective Vitality Scale was tested, which allows the assessment of subjective vitality at the trait level. In a sample of 709 respondents, the factor accuracy of three versions: 7-, 6- and 5-position in Polish was assessed. The 5-position version had the best fit of the model to the data. Analysis of the value of Cronbach,s α coefficient and the discriminatory power of the position showed that the scale can be considered reliable. The validity in the convergent and divergent aspect was tested on the basis of the relationship between subjective vitality and the dimensions of chronic fatigue, negative and positive affect, somatic symptoms, anxiety, functional disorders, symptoms of depression, life satisfaction and vitality in a different conceptualization and the number of hours devoted to recreational activities. The predictive value of satisfaction with meeting psychological needs in general and with regard to work was partially confirmed. The analysis of intergroup differences carried out in a sample of 40 people suffering from discopathy and a selected control group showed that the sick and somatically healthy people differed significantly in the result of subjective vitality. The Subjective Vitality Scale can be regarded as an accurate and reliable tool. The 5-item version of the Subjective Vitality Scale is recommended.

Opis:: This article presents the results of the Polish adaptation of McAdams and de St. Aubin’s Loyola Generativity Scale (LGS) and Generative Behaviour List (GBC) – the scales respectively measure generative concern and generative behaviour. Results from a sample of N = 237 individuals aged 19–93 years showed good internal reliability of the LGS and GBC. Their results correlated positively. Most hypotheses supporting the criterion-relevance of the LGS and GBC were confirmed, including showing positive correlations of both scales with the intensity of meaning in life, extroversion and openness to experiences, as well as a negative correlation of the LGS with depressive symptoms. The CFA supported the original two-factor model of the LGS. In addition, the high stability of LGS scores over a three-week period in a sample of N = 30 students was shown. The Polish adaptations of the LGS and the GBC are reliable and valid tools and can be used in research work.

Opis:: Background. The objective of the study was the adaptation and evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Interpersonal Social Support Scale version for students (ISEL-48v.Coll.: Interpersonal Support Evaluation List College Version). Material and methods. The validation of the instrument was performed according to methodological standards, and statistical validation covered the assessment of criterion and construct validity, and reliability of the scale. The study was conducted with the use of the test-retest method, and a package of research instruments was applied, including, apart from the ISEL-48v.Coll., the PSS-14, HADS and SOC-29. The validation sample covered a group of 167 nursing students for the test and 115 for the retest. Results. Reliability of the ISEL-48 v. Coll. as evaluated by Cronbach’s alpha was 0.88, and for the subscales, it ranged from 0.82 to 0.69. The stability of results determined by the correlation in test-retest analysis ranged within 0.76 – 0.61 (p<0.001 and p<0.01). Conclusions. The analysis of results shows that the adopted ISEL-48v.Coll. is an instrument possessing satisfying psychometric properties.
Wprowadzenie. Celem badań było przeprowadzenie procedury adaptacji i oceny właściwości psychometrycznych Interpersonalnej Skali Wsparcia Społecznego w wersji dla studentów (ISEL-48v.Coll.: Interpersonal Support Evaluation List College version). Materiał i metody. Adaptacja lingwistyczna skali została przeprowadzona zgodnie z obowiązującymi standardami metodologicznymi, a walidacja statystyczna poprzez określenie trafności kryterialnej, teoretycznej i rzetelności. W badaniu wykorzystano metodę test-retest i zastosowano pakiet narzędzi badawczych oprócz ISEL-48v.Coll. również PSS-14, HADS, SOC-29. Próba walidacyjna obejmowała grupę 167 studentów dla testu i 115 dla retestu. Wyniki. Rzetelność ISEL-48 v.Coll. oceniana współczynnikiem alfa Cronbacha wynosiła 0.88 a dla podskal waha się od 0.82 do 0.69. Stałość wyników określona współczynnikiem korelacji w badaniu test-retest przyjmowała wartości od 0.76 do 0.61 (p<0.001 and p<0.01). Wnioski. Analiza wyników wskazuje iż zaadaptowana ISEL-48v.Coll jest narzędziem o zadowalających właściwościach psychometrycznych.

Opis:: This paper presents the results of a study on the Polish version of the Generic Conspiracist Beliefs Scale (GCBS), which was designed to measure individual differences in conspiracist thinking (Brotherton, French, & Pickering; 2013). The Polish version of the scale had excellent internal consistency as measured by Cronbach alpha: .93. The Polish version also had excellent test-retest stability. To check the validity of the questionnaire, various tools were used to measure the characteristics that can be correlated with conspiracist thinking. As a result, it was found that conspiracist thinking is positively correlated with the external locus of control, the results obtained in the Scale of Belief in Zero-Sum Game and the results of the MMPI-2 Paranoia scale. It was also found that patients with paranoid personality disorder and paranoid schizophrenia had higher results on the adapted scale than healthy subjects. In sum, the Polish version of GCBS had satisfactory psychometric properties, which makes it useful for measuring conspiracist thinking.
