Opis:: The fourth industrial revolution (4IR) introduces significant changes in various areas of economic and social life. Many of them are perceived as groundbreaking and game-changing, which is a feature of every revolution. 4IR exerts a direct impact on economic and social life through the incredible development of ICT. The paper aims to present the scope of impact of these changes on logistics and supply chain management – areas of business management that are currently of great importance for competitiveness. The role of ICT in modern logistics and supply chain management was also shown, and selected specific technologies that considerably contribute to the deepening of digital transformation in these areas of activity were discussed. Attention was drawn to the complementarity of ICT solutions at the enterprise and the economy levels. The authors came up with a concept of an intelligent (digital) supply chain as a solution that satisfies the need to strengthen supply chain’s resilience and supports the implementation of environmental sustainability strategies in line with the development of the circular economy. The authors also discuss development directions of the so-called intelligent logistics and intelligent supply chains under the conditions of 4IR.

Opis:: Współczesny rozwój technologii wspierany dostępem do Internetu stymuluje powstawanie koncepcji, tj. Smart Industry i Smart Supply Chain. Inteligentne fabryki wykorzystują robotyzację i automatyzację w celu poprawy konkurencyjności. Takie podejście staje się jednak niewystarczające i wymaga szerszego spojrzenia na potencjał, jakim jest połączenie idei Smart Factory z potencjałem jaki wynika z zastosowania technologii w łańcuchach dostaw w przemyśle. Istotnym aspektem umożliwiającym czerpanie korzyści z takiego holistycznego ujęcia jest wykorzystanie Internetu Rzeczy (IoT) w zarządzaniu informacją przepływającą od konsumenta do producenta surowców. Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na potrzebę holistycznego spojrzenia na problematykę cyfryzacji w zarządzaniu fabryką i przepływami w łańcuchach dostaw, aby osiągać maksymalizację korzyści całego systemu, jakim jest Smart Industry. Rozważania poprzedzono analizą ewolucji Internetu, jako podstawy do możliwości zarządzania przepływami z wykorzystaniem IoT.
The current development of technologies supported by Internet access stimulates the emergence of Smart Industry and Smart Supply Chain concepts. Intelligent factories use robotics and automation to improve competitiveness. This approach, however, is insufficient and requires a broader view of the potential of combining the Smart Factory concept with the potential resulting from the application of technology in industrial supply chains. An important aspect that makes it possible to benefit from such a holistic approach is the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the management of information flows from the consumer to the raw materials producers. The aim of the article is to draw attention to the need for a holistic view of the issues of digitization with the management of the factory and flows in the supply chains, in order to maximize the benefits of the entire system, which is Smart Industry. The considerations were preceded by an analysis of the evolution of the Internet as a basis for the ability to manage flows using IoT.

Opis:: Artykuł dotyczy stosunkowo nowego zagadnienia w rzeczywistości logistycznej, a mianowicie digitalizacji łańcuchów dostaw. Nieunikniony postęp technologiczny przy jednocześnie coraz trudniejszych warunkach prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej to kluczowe czynniki, które stymulują wzrost poziomu wykorzystania nowoczesnych narzędzi informatycznych do zarządzania zintegrowanymi w ramach łańcuchów ogniwami. Wizja Industry 4.0, a coraz częściej nawet Industry 5.0, uwypukla znaczenie technologii typu IIoT (ang. Industrial Internet of Things) oraz ICT (ang. Information and Communication Technologies). Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie istoty pojęcia inteligentnych łańcuchów dostaw, a także wskazanie możliwości i zakresu zastosowania przykładowych technologii informatycznych kształtujących i wspomagających zarządzanie tego typu łańcuchami. W artykule poza analizą teoretyczną wybranego zagadnienia zamieszczono przykład praktycznej implementacji systemu typu SCADA w firmie produkcyjnej. Opisano proces analizy wdrożeniowej systemu oraz zdefiniowano jego funkcjonalne zadania, w szczególności w zakresie usprawnień procesów logistycznych, a także wskazano kluczowe korzyści dla podmiotu stosującego system, jego dostawców i klientów.
The article discusses the process of digitalisation of the supply chains which is a relatively new issue in logistic reality. While the unavoidable technological progress makes operating a business increasingly difficult, it is also the key factor behind the development of modern it tools for management of integrated supply chains. Vision of Industry 4.0, and more recently Industry 5.0, highlight the importance of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). The aim of this article is to indicate how information technology may shape and support the supply chain management. Apart from theoretical analysis of the issue, the author provides an example of the practical implementation of a SCADA system in a production company. It is a tool that measurably improves both internal processes and positively influences the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire supply chain within which the described entity operates.

Opis:: Purpose: The article aims at presenting possible challenges faced by supply chains in the upcoming years. Design/methodology/approach: The article employs analysis of the literature on the subject. Findings: As a result of the critical analysis of the literature, the authors have highlighted what they consider to be the most significant challenges facing supply chain managers in the coming years. These include meeting increasing customer demands for on-time delivery, the skillful use of new technologies and an increasing emphasis on environmental issues in supply chain management. These are challenges arising from changes in the business environment. The last few years, and many examples of broken supply chains, have shown that changes in the way we think about how supply chains operate are required in many areas. Trends in the environment are forcing the challenges listed above to be addressed urgently. These challenges are closely interconnected. For example, changes in purchasing behaviour are also increasingly concerned with environmental issues, which translates into the need to 'green' supply chains. Also, customer expectations for greater visibility of processes in supply chains and increasing pressure to deliver as quickly as possible (which is linked to the growth of e-commerce), are driving the need for new technologies, including automation. Research limitations/implications: The authors have focused on the most important trends and challenges and the article certainly does not cover all the topics studied. It is to some extent a subjective selection made by the authors. In addition, it should be noted that dynamic changes in the environment may influence the emergence of new challenges that are not presented in the article. Practical implications: The supply chain management challenges presented in the article may be of interest to those responsible for the operations of supply chains within companies. Originality/value: The article is a subjective indication of the most important trends in supply chain management and stems from a review of the literature on the subject. Although the issues analysed are present in other research papers, here we have the authors’ choice.

The application in a simplified way simulates the operation of the supply chain management system, which uses smart contracts to store product data. Opis:: This research paper conducts a systematic review of the integration of blockchain technology with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, a burgeoning field at the intersection of advanced technology and business management. The primary objective is to bridge the knowledge gap by synthesizing existing literature, providing insights into the current state, challenges, and potential of blockchain in enhancing ERP systems. The study follows a structured methodology involving four key stages: Literature Retrieval, Literature Screening, Biblio-metric Analysis, and Content Analysis. A comprehensive literature search in the Scopus database resulted in the identification and analysis of 250 scholarly articles, narrowed down to 66 relevant publications. The findings highlight a significant trend towards decentralized ERP solutions, driven by blockchain’s promise of enhanced security, transparency, and efficiency. Key areas impacted by blockchain integration include supply chain management, accounting, security, traceability, purchasing, and process automation within ERP systems. The bibliometric analysis reveals a growing academic interest in this domain, with a focus on scalability, data security, and interoperability. However, the integration faces challenges such as technical complexity, cultural resistance, and regulatory uncertainties. The study concludes that while blockchain presents transformative opportunities for ERP systems, realizing this potential requires overcoming substantial technical and organizational hurdles. Future research should concentrate on developing scalable, interoperable blockchain solutions, tailored to specific industry needs and compliant with regulatory standards, thereby facilitating widespread adoption and maximizing the benefits of blockchain in ERP systems.

Opis:: This study explores the potential of blockchain technology to optimize trade finance processes and to address inefficiencies and fraud risks in centralized systems that contribute to a growing global trade finance gap, particularly affecting SMEs. Through documentary analysis and the case of Morocco's OCP Group, with insights for practitioners, we explore the benefits and challenges of integrating blockchain into trade finance. Our findings suggest a hybrid solution integrating blockchain into existing infrastructure, relying on both off-chain and on-chain governance mechanisms in smart contracts. This approach aims to bridge the gap between traditional and blockchain solutions in trade finance and discusses the potential for a more pragmatic way forward for the industry.
