Opis:
The article presents the research results of load influence on errors of the piston Top Dead Centre (TDC) position determined on indication graph with combustion. For TDC determination the method proposed by Polanowski is applied. This method is based on least-squares approximation with model of thermodynamic compression using apolynomial exponent. So, designated TDC are kinematics. This method make possible determination the TDC on the indicator diagram with combustion, as well as the total compression ratio and the dynamic error of pressure (offset). Research were done on the laboratory engine Sulzer 3AL25/30 for load range of 50-250 kW and rotational speed 750 rpm, which corresponds to 15-90% nominal load. Cylinder pressures were recorded with a resolution ofn O.5 OWK by means of multichannel recorder UNITEST 205. For pressure measurements were applied strain gauge pressure sensors Spais Company. For the analysis of indicator diagrams used its own specially developed algorithm and program for the automatic determination of TDC, based on the model of the compression process with the exponent of the polynomial. Simultaneously three parameters were determined: the position of TDC, the total compression ratio and offset the pressure. Additionally set the position of the zeros of the second order derivatives, which are sometimes considered as reference points to TDC of pistons. For smoothing of indicator diagrams their own algorithms and programs of moving approximation by polynomials of 3rd degree was used. The results of research have shown the essential load influence on the errors of TDC positions on indicator diagrams.

Opis:
This article presents an application of a novel technique for precise measurements of time and charge based solely on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) device for positron emission tomography (PET). The described approach simplifies electronic circuits, reduces the power consumption, lowers costs, merges front-end electronics with digital electronics, and also makes more compact final design. Furthermore, it allows to measure time when analog signals cross a reference voltage at different threshold levels with a very high precision of ~15 ps (rms) and thus enables sampling of signals in a voltage domain.

This study investigated numerous methods of digital time measurement and analyzes the potential of FPGA technology in this matter. Based on this information, a program meant to measure time with precision up to fraction of a nanosecond has been implemented on circuit from ECP5 series, produced by Lattice Semiconductor. By using simulation, this implementation has been studied in terms of limitations and capabilities.
W tej pracy dyplomowej przedstawiono różne metody cyfrowego pomiaru czasu wysokiej precyzji i przeanalizowano potencjał technologii FPGA w tym zakresie. Na tej podstawie zaimplementowano program na układ serii ECP5 produkowany przez Lattice Semiconductor, mający na celu pomiar czasu z dokładnością do ułamka nanosekundy. Korzystając z symulacji sprawdzono, jakie ograniczenia i możliwości ma taka implementacja.

The paper presents the results of comparative analysis of influence of different methods of TDC determination for the calculation errors of mean indicated pressure (MP). Lemag method based on zero point of first order derivative, used in PREMET pressure analyzers, was compared to the method based on a polynomial model of the compression process. Comparisons were made on the operating measurement data obtained on the low speed marine engine RTA96C which forms the main propulsion of the vessel and the medium speed engine MAN L28/32A. Measurements were made with onboard combustion PREMET analyzer. It was found that the method based on zero point of first order derivative can give the deviations of position of TDC in excess of 2°CA which is caused by disturbances associated with the measurement of pressure and interference associated with the generation of the angular axis. These errors are related to the accuracy of the methods of determining of the first derivative and the availability of a sufficient range of pure compression after TDC. The best results of determining the TDC position was obtained from the original method based on a polynomial model of the compression process. It should be emphasized that the proposed method enables individual adjustment of TDC for each cylinder and can be used even when the combustion begins before TDC. The conducted research proved the existence of significant influence of indicator graph TDC location on the mean indicated pressure calculation errors.

Przedstawiono eksperymentalne możliwości obserwacji ruchu tłoka poprzez skrzynię korbową silnika okrętowego. Wyznaczono charakterystyczne punkty położenia tłoka w czasie. opracowano metodę estymacji wystąpienia GMP tłoka na podstawie jego obserwowanych położeń. Zaproponowano model matematyczny umożliwiający szacowanie położenia dynamicznego GMP tłoka na podstawie obserwacji jego ruchu. Wykazano występowanie różnicy pomiędzy wystąpieniem GMP termodynamicznym, a GMP dynamicznym.
The experimental possibility of piston movement observation through the crankcase has been presented. The characteristic piston positioning points in the time domain have been determined. The piston TDC estimation methodology based on observed positioning points has been developed. A mathematic model for piston TDC estimation has been proposed. The difference between thermodynamic and dynamic TDC has been detected and presented.

In the operating marine diesel engines the indication diagnostics tests are usually performed through a 0.5-1.0 me ter long indication channel which delays and disfigures the pressure signal being measured. the delay depends on the engine 's speed and load. the pressure sensor itself together with an amplifler is an additional source of delay and disfigurements, so the registered pressure curve is displaced even if theTDC piston's position hadbeen estimated with the highest accuracy. when the over exploited engine is being tested the angle of delay can achieve several degrees and differ for each cylinder. in that case cylinders' load is unequal and torsional vibrations occur in the engine operation. in case when some simplifying assumptions have been adopted the part of diagnostic information is lost what could lead to a false diagnosis. in the paper the attention is focused on the mistakes which could be made in the marine diesel engine diagnostics when different TDC assessment methods are used. TDC corrections with compression pressure analysis are possible only in case when crankshaft angle position is precise. in case of measurement with constant frequency such corrections are possible only when the engine is good balanced.

Omówiono sposób aproksymacji funkcją wykładniczą wyników badania procesu sprężania czynnika roboczego w cylindrach okrętowego tłokowego silnika spalinowego Sulzer 6AL20/24, wyposażonego w czujnik ciśnienia umieszczony w głowicy. Daje to możliwość wyznaczenia położenia GMP, ciśnienia początkowego i ciśnienia sprężania wtedy, gdy zapłon następuje przed GMP.
The paper discusses a method of an approximation of the results of the compression process examined on 6AL20/24 Sulzer engine cylinders. The approximation has been carried out by means of an exponential function. The method allows to determine the TDC position, initial pressure as well as compression pressure when the ignition comes before TDC.

The paper analyzes the factors influencing the quantity and quality of diagnostic information obtained by engine indication with electronic indicators and pressures analyzers. Amount of information obtained virtually unchanged since the advent of the first construction pressure analyzers produced by Autronica and ABB Company. In many cases, the value of the maximum combustion and compression pressures, can be measured using these devices with sufficient accuracy and reliability, is if ignition occurs after piston TDC. Determination of the mean indicated pressure, compression ratio and heat release characteristics required to develop a method of TDC determination on the indicator diagrams, generate reliable angular axes in real time and pressure sensors of sufficient accuracy. It should be noted that in the latest solution of ABB system, a correction of thermodynamic loss angle and combustion pressure sensors of high accuracy were introduced. For marine diesel engines diagnosis, the pressure sensor measuring sustainability is important because of the ability to create trends of specific diagnostic parameters, which may constitute an additional, important source of diagnostic information. The paper presents an overview of currently available pressure sensors that can be used during marine engines indication. Most important issues related to the pressure measurement on indicator valves were characterized. An assessment of the gas channels and the quality of the angular axis impact for the parameters of indicator graphs was done.

The article analyses the possibility of using the electronic type indicators, in the diagnosis of marine engines. The analysis of indicated parameters read from the indicator diagram is now widely use on ships in the diagnosis of marine engines. To make this possible, measuring indicated systems should meet a number of important requirements to be met to ensure the possibility of their diagnostic use. These include reliable determination of the top dead centre piston (TDC). The above is particularly important in in-depth analysis of indicator diagrams − calculating the heat release characteristics. The paper presents results of research on the effect of the error on the accuracy of the location of TDC (GMP) on calculated heat release characteristics. In order to demonstrate the impact positional error TDC, simulation study was conducted in which indicated diagrams was used, obtained on a medium-speed four-stroke marine engine type A25/30 and the low-speed two-stroke engine type RTA76, Sulzer Company.

Opis:
Determination of the internal combustion piston engine 's indicated power is a complex task. A number of difficulties lead to lots of solutions utilized to increase the accuracy of the result. This paper reports on the experiments concerned with a four stroke engine's piston dynamic position determination. Although the paper is mostly concerned with the piston's TDC definition, the experimental methodology can be utilized in the entire piston movement determination. A specially developed measuring assembly and its working principle utilized in the experiment have been presented too. It allows the acquiring of a set of time-position coordinates. Based on the coordinates, the mathematical algorithm for dynamic piston positioning can be developed. As the piston movement was being observed from the crankcase side, the methodology proved to be relatively cheap and easier for installation, compared to proximity sensors installed in the cylinder head. The advantage of optical sensors and light pipes being used was reduction of the explosion risk in oil mist environment inside the crank case.
