The paper discusses several methodological problems in the necessary (mostly metaphorical) transfer of concepts from one discipline (or subdiscipline) into another one, especially when interdisciplinary research demands mutual understanding in terms of translation and correspondence of concepts. After differentiating between multidisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, the first is rejected and it is pleaded that the second and third should be combined. Several adequate and inadequate transfers of concepts into linguistics are dealt with, especially in the areas of morphology and language acquisition. Successful transfer is characterised by the formal transfer of new terms and their easy adaptation to already existing linguistic conceptions, especially between subdisciplines. Most often, further important differentiations of a concept cannot be transferred from the original discipline but must be added as enrichments within linguistics itself. This may lead to a split-up of concepts in different subdisciplines of linguistics. The concepts discussed are regression, self-organization, complexity, transparency vs. opacity, figure and ground, top-down processing, default, input, grammaticalisation.

Opis:

The issue of entrepreneurship in sports joins the more general trend of catching up with the long Renaissance period of “reflecting” on the character of the professional sportsman (athlete), so peculiarly overlooked, and one of the main protagonists of the culture of antiquity, alongside the artist or philosopher. The author of the article adopts the convention of the ‘corporate athlete’, for which he sees a contemporary exemplification in football, the most popular sport. The examples cited from the economic history of football, preceded by an outline of the basic categories of entrepreneurship, are an attempt to show the essence of an economic, two-way view of these issues. The description of the institutionalisation of analytics and football’s ‘information bank’, highlights the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary approach to entrepreneurship in sport. In contrast, the characterisation of the re-engineering carried out at FC Barcelona is a case of an approach that treats sport as a natural economic environment. Providing a wholesome, inspirational building block, grounding some elements of management and entrepreneurial.

The point of departure of this paper is Jürgen Habermas concept of knowledge constitutive interests and its further elaboration in the so-called reconstructive sciences. The reconstructive knowledge encompasses descriptive empirical statements, relative normative statements following from explication of cultural beliefs, and normative statements raising universal validity claims. Opis:

This article is about the possibilities of transdisciplinary research and was written from the perspective of the specialist in Polish philology. The paper also refers to proposals presented at the 12th Convention of Specialists in Polish Studies [Zjazd Polonistów] (2011) and the volume Nowa humanistyka (New Humanities) (2017). These texts postulated transforming the specific “identity” of Polish philology into cultural studies or anthropology of literature and an attempt to “build bridges” with other specializations so far falling within the paradigm of interdisciplinarity. The author proposes a better way to cross the traditional divisions between the humanities and sciences and presents the term “transdisciplinarity”, which is somehow connected to the metaphor of “jumping over the wall”. Consequently, he proposes the figure of the catapult, which is used in poetics, is derived from the military machine, and is now understood as a rescue launcher. Thinking in terms of catapult assume a ferocity and the risk of entering foreign territory, the need to enter into a direct, concrete and difficult relationship with another world (of matter, laws, methods and problems).

The notions of inter- and transdisciplinarity represent categories which the humanities frequently resort to in the discourse, but which remain difficult to define.  The attempts to do so are most often associated with subscribing to one of the possible models of interpreting relationships between individual disciplines of science. Mieke Bal’s concept of transdisciplinarity, which this paper discusses, envisages a framework where the privileged form of formulating scientific concepts would be in research practice that is rooted not only in the methodologies of individual sciences but most of all in the everyday practices and experiences.

Transdisciplinarity has shaped the development of both conservation science and conservation-restoration. The history of conservation science demands the commitment of all involved specialists to follow a common vision in the field. The present article highlights some key lessons to assist in closing the gap between the promotion of high-level research projects and the development and assessment of proficient professional practice in conservation science and conservation-restoration. The necessary framework conditions should also be brought to the attention of responsible politicians. The text concerns liquidity understood as an extremely extensive category containing the aspect of changeability and blurring boundaries. It covers an extremely wide spectrum of phenomena. Liquidity is a physical category that refers to the element of water and the senses of touch and taste. It became extremely popular in sociology as an epistemological category thanks to Zygmunt Bauman. This category should be applied much more widely in analyzing phenomena in the field of literature, art, theater, performance, but also going beyond practical analytical use and transferring this concept to the level of theory. The term „liquid” refers to many associations, which in turn allow us to recall different orders and perspectives, at the same time incorporating the current argument into a broader discourse on the moving, fluid nature of the concepts of „wandering” between disciplines. These considerations are also part of the author’s concept of amorphous aesthetic categories, which include liquidity.

The paper offers a secondary analysis from a grounded theory doctoral study that reconsiders its “grounded systemic design” (Mitchell, 2005, 2007). While theorists across multiple disciplines fiercely debate the ontological implications of Niklas Luhmann’s autopoietic systems theory (Deflem 1998; Graber and Teubner 1998; King and Thornhill 2003; Mingers 2002; Neves 2001; O’Byrne 2003; Verschraegen 2002, for example), few investigators have yet to adopt his core constructs empirically (see Gregory, Gibson and Robinson 2005 for an exception). Glaser’s (1992, 2005) repeated concerns for grounded theorists to elucidate a “theoretical code” has provided an additional entry point into this project of integrating grounded theory with Luhmann’s abstract conceptual thinking about how global society operates. The author argues that this integration of methodology and systems thinking provides an evolution of grounded theory – rather than its ongoing “erosion” as Greckhamer and Koro-Ljungberg (2005) have feared – and a transportable set of methodological and analytical constructs is presented as a basis for further grounded study.

In this article, I use Mieke Bal’ concept of wandering notions to analyse the conceptual apparatus that Zygmunt Bauman used in his works. In the first part of the text, I describe the most important features of his works which have connection with the practice of borrowing for the needs of the sociological discourse of the terms coming from other contexts: transdisciplinarity, connections with literature and art, engaged character. Then, I present the examples of the concepts of illustrative, propagation and foundation character which appear in his analyses. In the conclusion, I highlight the significance of categories redefined by him for social sciences and humanities development.

The article analyses the agency of transgression and transcendence at the domain level. It characterizes the specificity of this process and points to factors that influence its intensification (especially the development of digital technologies). The text presents the effects of this process – the impact on the way cultural texts and their structures exist. The article examines the rhetorical dimension of a trans-disciplinary nature, the effect of which is the creation of trans-disciplinary texts. It proves the thesis that in the interaction between disciplines a structural explosion takes place, which leads to the creation of new textual figures and structures and the formation of new types of texts. These issues are illustrated using specific examples of trans-disciplinary texts.

Opis:

In recent years transdisciplinary tendencies have been growing increasingly stronger in Polish culture. They can no longer be reduced to intermedial or transmedial practices within the field of visual arts. Rather, they consist of transgressing and extending the borders of different fields of cultural production and their respective institutional circuits. Visual artists have been trying to enter the field of movie production and use the professional work conditions it offers together with their specific sensibilities, ways of thinking and habits. Another important factor is distribution within the movie industry field – an opportunity to reach a different and potentially larger audience than the one that visits art galleries and museums. This trend which was described – in a somewhat exaggerated manner – as “the cinematographic turn” in Polish contemporary art is really one part of a more general phenomenon. A few years ago “the performative turn” was announced. A bit later it was followed by “the audio turn”. Today it is probably the right moment to start a discussion about an analogical “theatrical” or “choreographical” turn. The point is, however, to recognise that all these “turns” in visual arts are elements of a more comprehensible configuration and they develop according to similar lines. The transdisciplinary movement has also occurred in other fields of cultural production. It can be observed in the field of literature, theatre, music or dance, all of which not only appropriate selected elements from the field of visual arts – e.g. materiality, iconicity, performance, multimedia installations, conceptual and documental dimensions, cognitive and generative protocols, artistic and social actions etc. – but also penetrate further and further into its institutional spaces and circuits. The development of such transdisciplinary tendencies is conditioned – on various levels – by a series of factors: starting form the logic characteristic of visual arts – the one of expansion, self-redefinition and appropriation of the outside – through transdisciplinary studios at art schools, the changing of identities and the tasks of cultural institutions or the criteria of grant programmes, to the general transformations in the forms of labour and modes of production under capitalism. Obviously, there has already been a history – manifold histories – of such exchanges and they are not absolutely new or without precedence. What seems to be new, at least in Poland, is the co-appearance and growing intensity of transdisciplinary and “transinstitutional” practices in various fields of cultural production. Transdisciplinarity can be the main purpose of singular projects or a basis for taking up other issues – a basis for performing relationships between a whole set of elements: body, movement, time, space, habit, affect, sight, hearing, mind, object, sign, discourse, history, culture, production and politics. The common ground of texts gathered in this section is the motif of creating or “performing” relations. They do not exhaust the subject identified here nor even present its full complexity. They rather provide a number of case studies which indicate some more general outlines of the transdisciplinary and transinstitutional logic that governs the field of contemporary cultural production. We hope that the section will contribute to wider discussion on the subject. Ula Zarek defines dance as an “art of relationships” and shows how contemporary choreographic work goes beyond “pure dance” and approaches the field of visual arts and performance art. Using phenomenological and aesthetic concepts of bodily intentionality and the thinking, sentient soma as well as a theoretical reflection on dance, which is becoming increasingly present in Poland, the author analyzes a series of projects based on improvisation – the main method of experimental and cognitive acts in contemporary dance. She also indicates that transdisciplinary practices draw on both the field of “performative arts”, which is often described in Polish with the word “performans”, and the tradition of “performance art”, which is in turn referred to with the original English term. Similar issues are taken up by Katarzyna Słoboda, who presents from the perspective of a curator and dance researcher, the objectives and course of the project Frames of reference. Choreography in the museum. The case study becomes an occasion for general considerations of dance as a way of exploring affective relations, which are an important aspect of contemporary capitalism and its production culture. The analysis touches upon such subjects as choreographic scores, improvisation as an act of coming into relationship with a context, and the presence of the viewer-participant at the site of the creative process: in the space of choreographic work and production. In this space the border between workday movement and dance becomes highly uncertain. Piotr Olkusz presents the project Avant-Garde and social realism, developed as a result of institutional co-operation between The Kazimierz Dejmek New Theatre and The Museum of Art in Lodz. It was intended to explore the relation between certain aspects of social realism and the ideas and practices of the Avant-Garde. It included transdisciplinary practices that led to the interpenetration of theatre and visual arts and, at times, to the creation of a “total performance beyond all genre”. However the project was not centred on the historical past. It was rather meant to examine the inheritance of the Avant-Garde and social realism and check if within it there remained anything alive, worth taking up and updating. It was above all to raise a question about the contemporary place, role and mutual relationship of experimental and socially engaged art. The presence of visual arts themes and practices in the field of theatre is the frame of Katarzyna Urbaniak’s text. The author uses contemporary theories of things and objects to examine the status of Jerzy Grzegorzewski's scenographic objects. She analyses, on the one hand, past agency and performativity of “ready made” objects that co-acted on the stage with human actors, and on the other hand, the place of the objects in the theatre which turn into a collection and an archive. Two difference projects during recent years aimed at presenting the archive – in the form of a book and a hipertext website – change the status of the items it includes: they displace them out of the contexts of the spectacle and actors play and puts them into a space in which they become closer to artistic objects or biographical and cultural traces. In both cases the scenographic objects turn into memory afterimages of Grzegorzewski’s theatre. “The turn to things” also sets a theoretical frame for Joanna Glinkowska’s text. Her analysis concerns the exhibition Things, organised as an artistic project at the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Lodz. In accordance with the concept designed by artist-as-curator Agnieszka Chojnacka, the project participants presented or created their artistic objects in relation to the exhibition space and narration of the museum’s permanent display. Glinkowska tries to show how those artistic objects acted and performed in relation to one another. She also wonders if Things are a sign of a wider tendency on the part of Polish contemporary art to penetrate into the field of ethnography.

Aim. This research aims to confirm that transdisciplinary projects can be very adequate to develop content and competencies traditionally assigned to Sciences and Arts in higher education, exploring the possibilities of outdoor education. Methods. The subjects of the study were one hundred alumni of two different courses “Natural Sciences for Teachers” and “Literary Training for Teachers” at a Spanish university. An educational experience around the phenomenon of scientific travelers was developed, focusing on Charles Darwin and Alexander von Humboldt and the literary genres of travel journals and letters. The main activity contained three phases, including indoor and outdoor education, in which both subjects tackled the same 6 educational topics from a different perspective. After different individual and group activities around those topics, alumni from both subjects merged at a natural environment where a scientific-literary tour took place. At the end of the academic year, an assessment questionnaire with open and closed questions was filled out by all participants. Results and conclusion. After the analysis of all the collected data, we can deduce that the experience was a success. The students appreciated aspects like the setting in which the experience took place, the possibility of interacting with alumni from different courses and the integration of Sciences and Arts. Thus, we have demonstrated that the same activities can be implemented in prototypical subjects of Sciences and Arts and that outdoor education is an ideal resource to achieve a holistic pedagogy engaging the sensory and emotional facets of learning.

This article deals with the aesthetic evolution of the artist’s book in printmaking and its close connection to the graphic procedures resulting from the printing press and the current transdisciplinarity of the various areas of knowledge. Each stride of technical progress in the field of graphic arts spawned a transformation in the aesthetics of the images comprising books, as they served to enhance the graphic quality of the aesthetics presented.
Artykuł dotyczy ewolucji estetycznej książek artystycznych i jej ścisłego związku z procedurami graficznymi oraz obecnej transdyscyplinarności różnych dziedzin wiedzy. Każdy postęp techniczny w dziedzinie techniki warsztatowej powodował przemianę estetyki obrazów tworzących książkę, przyczyniając się do poprawy jakości graficznej prezentowanych działań artystycznych.

Grief Is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter brings up a perennial theme of bereavement, which is present in culture since time immemorial. Simultaneous effect of various media on modern man resulted in perceptual complexity and new ways of experiencing loss. The author attempts to reflect those changes through the literary form. In consequence numerous literary and speech genres are juxtaposed in a hybrid text that came into being as a separate and peculiarly coherent work, distinguished by its internal logic. Hence, the book is not a collection of loosely-linked and accidentally scattered passages, but it reveals the unconventional system of connections between them and their unexpected aesthetic potential. Instead of the schematism of epigonic repetitions Max Porter reworks and makes creative use of his predecessors' achievements by means of recontextualisation. Thereby, Grief Is the Thing with Feathers shows the ossification of traditional rituals and their incompatibility with present-day sensitivity. Therefore, the book can be treated as a manifesto and a call to change the social mentality.
Grief Is the Thing with Feathers Maxa Portera porusza odwieczny, znany w kulturze od niepamiętnych czasów temat żałoby. Symultaniczne oddziaływanie różnych mediów zaowocowało złożonością percepcyjną współczesnego człowieka i nowymi sposobami doświadczania straty. Autor podejmuje próbę odzwierciedlenia tych zmian w literackiej formie. W konsekwencji liczne gatunki literackie i gatunki mowy zostają ze sobą zestawione w tekstowej hybrydzie, powstałej jako utwór odrębny, zadziwiająco spójny i odznaczający się wewnętrzną logiką. Książka nie jest więc zbiorem luźno połączonych i przypadkowo rozrzuconych fragmentów, ale ujawnia niekonwencjonalny system powiązań pomiędzy nimi oraz ich nieoczekiwany potencjał estetyczny. Zamiast schematyzmu epigońskich powtórzeń Max Porter przepracowuje i kreatywnie wykorzystuje dokonania poprzedników, poddając je powtórnej kontekstualizacji. Tym samym Grief Is the Thing with Feathers ukazuje skostnienie tradycyjnych rytuałów i ich niekompatybilność z dzisiejszą wrażliwością, stąd książka ta może być potraktowana jako manifest i wezwanie do zmiany społecznej mentalności.

Autorka wskazuje w nim na to, że zestaw odpowiedzi na aktualne kryzysy ekologiczne wypracowanych w ramach permakultury zawsze zależy od kontekstów konkretnego ekosystemu, opartych na elastyczności i nie kieruje się dogmatycznymi przesłankami w rozwiązywaniu problemów. Permakultura jest zatem nie tylko praktyką nakierowaną równocześnie na uprawę ziemi w zrównoważony sposób i na wzmacnianie obfitości plonów, lecz także na utrzymywanie związków z dawnymi formami postępowania protonaukowego, często inspirowanymi przez rdzenne formy wytwarzania wiedzy. Proponuje więc postrzeganie etyki i podejścia permakulturowego jako „misji bez misji” i przeciwstawia je nowoczesnemu przekonaniu o tym, co ustanawia społecznie progresywne i ekologicznie sensowne działanie.
In my article I aim at discovering how the potential of permaculture reaches out beyond the sustainable form of agricultural activity. I pay attention to the set of answers given to the current ecological crises, emphasizing the context-dependent, flexible and non-dogmatic ways of solving problems. Permaculture not only is a kind of practice aimed simultaneously at cultivating the land in a sustainable way and giving priority to creating an abundance of crops, but it also accounts for regenerative forestry, soil-making and agricultural practices maintaining the relationships with the older forms of inquiry, often inspired by indigenous knowledge. Therefore, I propose to outline the permacultural ethics and approach as a "mission without mission" and I set it against the modernist assumptions of what constitutes a socially progressive and environmentally sound activity.

The emergence of globalization processes and transnational market integration has become a more and more challenging issue for scientific research in many fields, also and in particular within management science. Against this background the paper presents conceptualizations of globalizing networks based on theories and approaches such Global Commodity Chains, Global Value Chains and Global Production Networks. In particular, the paper aims to conceptualize and discuss globalizing networks with a specific focus on foreign direct investments (FDI) and special economic zones (SEZs). The article is based on heuristic approach and in-depth literature study. The text has been prepared based on heuristic approach and literature studies and it can make a small contribution to the conceptualization within in management science theory.
Postępująca globalizacja w połączeniu z wzrastającymi zjawiskami sieciowania stają się coraz większym wyzwaniem dla badań naukowych w wielu dziedzinach. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono konceptualizację globalizujących się sieci opartą na teorii, Global Commodity Chains, Global Value Chains and Global Production Networks. Celem artykułu jest przyczynek do konceptualizacji tych zjawisk i kontynuacja dyskusji naukowej na temat roli globalizacji sieci w globalnym środowisku gospodarczym. Ponadto artykuł odwołuje się do znaczenia FDI oraz specjalnych stref ekonomicznych w procesie globalizacji sieci produkcyjnych. Tekst został opracowany na podstawie podejść heurystycznych oraz studiów literaturowych.

Opis:

The article concerns electronic literature and its place at the interface of traditional literature, technology and visual arts. This new genre of literature, associated with the development of digital media, shows that the boundaries of classical arts and disciplines in scientific research are blurring. This new phenomena require a new, transdisciplinary approach, combining literary and humanist competences with programming knowledge. The author presents a new literary phenomenon and indicates that literariness is a category which is more functional than literature in the case of studying e-literary. Literariness applies not only to literary works but also to other arts and phenomena in which it is the dominant feature of the work. This is exactly what happens in the case of electronic literature. It remains in the field of creativity in which the role of the word is the most important. At the same time, programming skills are required from the artist and the researcher, which do not fall within the scope of classical humanities. The author indicates that e-literary creativity is an area that opens up new perspectives for literary studies. It also sets new requirements for literary researchers.

The authors and readers of “Kultura Współczesna” need to face the following questions: 1. Does the term “culture” still carry any distinctive meaning? 2. How does the diffusion (dispersion) of the subject of research affect one’s attitude to its theory? 3. Why has transdisciplinarity (in “Kultura…”) turned out to be impossible? With the concept of culture widely disseminated across a variety of research, a new “culture outside culture” is born which turns into the main subject of discussion. Its rise is further facilitated by the “crisis” of theory driven by intergenerational criticism and lack of interest in developing new theoretical languages. Lack of trust in theory translates into a declining interest in transdisciplinarity.

Opis:

The aim of this article is to define alternative history genre (branch of fantastic literature) as a participating in the historical writing formula (H. White). The author juxtaposes literary studies, literature and history as neighboring branches of humanistic knowledge. Alternate history genre could be displaced as displaced by both, the history and literary studies. This genre, as a type of fantastic literature, is understood as dangerous phantasm, because of fictional abilities. In this article historiography and literary studies are diagnosed as forming a sisterhood relationship. When the opportunity arises, it is shown that the idea of postmodern history is no novelty, since until the decline of the 18th century history did not stand in oppossition to literature. Actually, the way of thinking about history as an (literary) art has a splendid tradition rooted in antiquity. It is shown that, in fact, there is no essential difference between alternate history (as a branch of fantastic literature) and counterfactualism as a methodology of history. It drives the author to a conclusion − by comparison of the methodologies of history and literary studies in the field of narrativity, and, according to Hayden White, comprehends history as a type of fiction, historio-graphia, literary artifact, or historical writing – that the alternative history novel could be understood as a third path to reconcile literary studies and historical studies. The participation of popular culture, where the alternate history genre and fantastic literature traditionally belongs, makes the history and literary studies more transgressive, widely open for the contemporary forms of communication and more hearable.

Artykuł dotyczy porównania poezji Romana Honeta i malarstwa Zdzisława Beksińskiego. Wychodząc od ogólnych podobieństw pomiędzy tymi twórcami, polegających na obecności w ich dziełach estetyki groteski, fantastyki, oniryzmu i surrealizmu, wskazane zostają bardziej szczegółowe podobieństwa. Obu artystów można sytuować w obszarze twórczości fantastycznej, w której ważną rolę odgrywa włączanie w obraz elementów cudownych i niesamowitych, spójne imaginarium i zniekształcające przedstawienie techniki twórcze. Zarówno Honet, jak i Beksiński niechętnie tłumaczą znaczenie swoich dzieł, pozostawiając odbiorcy dowolność skojarzeń lub podkreślając intuicyjny charakter procesu twórczego. Za pomocą przedstawień antropomorficznych hybdryd obaj twórcy wskazują na złożony status bytów nie-ludzkich, a co za tym idzie, również samego człowieka, w którym łączy się to, co zwierzęce, i to, co społeczne.
The article compares the poetry of Roman Honet and the paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński. Departing from the general similarities between the artists, consisting in the presence of the aesthetics of the grotesque, fantasy, oneirism and surrealism, the author outlines some more specific similarities. Both artists, for instance, can be situated in the field of fantasy art, in which an important role is played by the incorporation into the image of miraculous and fantastic elements, a coherent imaginarium and creative techniques distorting the representation. Both Honet and Beksiński are reluctant to explain the significance of their works, giving the recipient the freedom to make associations or emphasising the intuitive nature of the creative process. Using representations of anthropomorphic hybrids, both artists point to the complex status of non-human entities, and hence also to the human being, in which the animal and the social are combined.

Applied Polish studies are a currently developed research area and university teaching practice combining the traditional philological Polish studies with other scientific disciplines based on inter- and transdisciplinary academic collaboration principles to meet the needs arising from the performance of tasks assigned to specific professions requiring a background in Polish studies in the field of linguistic, literary and cultural studies. Originally developed by Stanisław Dubisz, the concept became a stimulus for establishing the Institute of Applied Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw and similar units at other Polish universities. This text shows the potential of a continued support for the development of applied Polish studies as an integrative research concept and associates it with the concepts of the Polish applied linguistics and applied languages studied at Western European universities.

The cinema, which was invented in the second half of 19th century, has caused the change of the human percpetive apparatus, at the same time intensifying the experience of life in a modern metropolis. This transformation still has implications in our everyday perception of space. The aim of my BA thesis is to elaborate this observation (which was mainly adopted from Walter Benjamin) by the way of presenting some practises of modern architecture which are inspired thematically and formally by audiovisuality. The examples I have chosen are based upon the notion that space is perceived nowadays with the impression of montage and mobility which was mainly shaped by the cinema. These assumptions lead to redefining terms of „cinema” and „architecture”, and introducing transdisciplinary research method.The thesis consists of three chapters. First one is devoted to the theory of links between cinema and architecture. I am especially interested in issues of the similarity of these two practices, the shaping of the cinematic perception of reality and the reformulation of film art as haptic or spatial, which enables to treat works of architecture as „quasi-films”. In the second part I introduce „mini-analyses” of the chosen architectural practices which are inspired by cinematic art. I present such groups as The Situationist International (loosely connected with architecture but revolutionary in terms of the understanding of urban space), Archigram and Metabolism, whose projects and theories were to become the basis of the deconstuctivist movement – the leading one in the contemporary architecture. I end this part with the description of some works of the deconstructivist architects (Bernard Tschumi and Daniel Libeskind). The third part is devoted to the projects of Rem Koolhaas – the architect who has often stated that he designs his buildings in a cinematic way. In the context of his architectural theories and exemplary works, I explore themes such as the narrative in architecture, the using of a screen and the cinematic collective consciousness.
Wynalazek kinematografu, przypadający na drugą połowę XIX wieku, przyczynił się do zmiany percepcyjnego aparatu człowieka, intensyfikując doświadczenie życia w nowoczesnej metropolii. Skutki tej transformacji do dziś mają swój udział w codziennym postrzeganiu przestrzeni. Celem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej jest rozwinięcie tego spostrzeżenia – zapożyczonego w głównej mierze od Waltera Benjamina – poprzez przedstawienie wybranych praktyk architektury współczesnej, dla których audiowizualność staje się źródłem tematycznych i formalnych inspiracji. Ukazane przeze mnie działania opierają się na przeświadczeniu, że nowoczesna przestrzeń postrzegana jest przez pryzmat „montażowości” i mobilności, które w głównej mierze kształtowany jest przez kino. Przyjęcie takich założeń prowadzi do redefinicji pojęć „kina” i „architektury”, a także wprowadzenia transdyscyplinarnej metody badawczej. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. W pierwszym nakreślona zostaje teoria dotycząca związków kina i architektury. Szczególnie interesują mnie kwestie podobieństwa obu praktyk, kształtowania się filmowej („montażowej”) percepcji przestrzeni zewnętrznej, a także przeformułowania sztuki filmowej jako sztuki haptycznej czy przestrzennej, co w dużym stopniu umożliwia także traktowanie dzieł architektonicznych jako „quasi-filmów”. W drugim rozdziale przedstawiam „mini-analizy” wybranych działań architektonicznych, w których zauważyć można inspiracje sztuką filmową. Przyglądam się grupom takim jak Międzynarodówka Sytuacjonistyczna (luźno związana z architekturą, ale jakże istotna w kwestii rewolucyjnego pojmowania przestrzeni urbanistycznej), Archigram i Metabolizm, których projekty i rozważania stały się podłożem dla wiodącego dziś w architekturze nurtu dekonstruktywistycznego. Opisem tego właśnie nurtu kończę rozdział, skupiając się na dokonaniach Bernarda Tschumiego i Daniela Libeskinda. W rozdziale trzecim analizuję projekty Rema Koolhaasa – architekta, który wielokrotnie podkreślał, że tworzy swe budynki zgodnie z zasadami rządzącymi sztuką filmową. W kontekście jego rozważań teoretycznych i przykładowych dzieł omawiam zagadnienia takie jak narracyjność w architekturze, wykorzystanie ekranu oraz filmowa świadomość zbiorowa.

Opis:

The article provides an overview of the Technology Assessment (TA) methods and procedures that have been used over the last forty years. Two typologies of methods are presented: the first is based on the project targets, the second reflects the origin of the method. Within the first group heuristic methods, methods of the future prediction and evaluation methods are discussed. The second group involves the economy derived methods, politically oriented methods and methods that come from the tradition of systems theory and systems analysis. Advantages and disadvantages of the methods in both groups are outlined. Finally the author presents optimal ways of methodological adjusting a technology assessment process to a problem, the order profile and the situation of the project contractor. A universal scheme integrating various methods and allowing to compensate their weaknesses is also discussed.

Opis:

The widely accepted definition which relates a career to an individual’s experience acquired during work, places it in the social space and in a specific time. The contextual and individual perspective provides an insight into the interrelationships between individual agency and the limiting or stimulating aspects of the social context. In career studies, it is emphasized that the concept of a career should be related to the category of work, because career is one of the key concepts used in Western societies of the twentieth century to describe the history of work understood as employment, despite the fact that new career theories go beyond this area of reference. The article discusses the development of career studies that reflect the transformation of the work environment. Attention is paid to the dynamic transformations in this environment are a background to changing career patterns and the relevant studies. The genealogical roots of contemporary career theories are shown, with special emphasis ontheir transdisciplinary nature. The article moreover focuses on problem areas inspired by the 1970s, which proved catalytic for modern career studies. The article concludes with reflections on the extent to which changes occurring in the area of work, and in particular experiencing discontinuities, pose a challenge to the fundamental principles and standards on which the theories, research and practices in the field of careers are based.

In this analysis, based on the content of two handbooks, some considerations concerning ways and areas of rural studies have been considered. Both handbooks have been designed as kinds of global analyses. In fact, both of them have been focused on the so-called Global North issues, with a few exemptions concerning Eastern Europe and Latin America. At the same time, there are some differences between both handbooks. While in the first one (published in 2006) some leading theoretical coordinates seem to be of primary importance, in the second one (published in 2016) some more peculiar analyses seem to dominate the whole discourse. Moreover, in the first handbook, the lack of major introduction and conclusion have been quite visible. It means that considerations focused on particular theoretical coordinates have been more autonomous. Quite contrary, in the second handbook, a whole number of quite specific analyses has required some significant remarks prepared by the editors. These differences have led to the conclusion that in the last 10 years rural studies have experienced some important impacts of inter- as well as trans-disciplinarity leading to combinations of various themes and analyses not easily forming more general and autonomous perspectives on rural issues.
W rozważaniach podjęta jest refleksja nad obszarami i sposobami badań w zakresie socjologii wsi, prezentowanymi w dwóch ostatnio opublikowanych podręcznikach z tego zakresu. Obydwa, chociaż mają ambicje odniesienia do globalnych zjawisk i problemów, tak naprawdę skupiają się na zagadnieniach dotyczących obszarów tzw. Globalnej Północy, z niewielkimi wyjątkami dotyczącymi Europy Wschodniej i Ameryki Łacińskiej. Zasadnicze jednak różnice między obydwoma podręcznikami są dwie. O ile w pierwszym (z roku 2006) ważna jest kwestia perspektyw analityczno-teoretycznych (tzw. teoretycznych koordynatów), o tyle w drugim (z roku 2016) istotniejsze są zagadnienia dotyczące rozmaitych bardziej szczegółowych kwestii, którym poświęcono odpowiednie fragmenty analiz. Ponadto w pierwszym opracowaniu brakuje wyraźnego wstępu i zakończenia, co świadczyć może o większej autonomii poszczególnych podejmowanych w analizach kwestii. Natomiast w opracowaniu drugim obszerna ilość szczegółowych analiz wymusza sformułowanie jakichś ogólniejszych uwag ze strony redaktorów tomu. Różnice między nimi świadczą o tym, że w ciągu 10 lat socjologia wsi (czy raczej studiów nad obszarami wiejskimi) doświadczyła efektów inter- i transdyscyplinarności, co spowodowało wymieszanie rozmaitych wątków i perspektyw analiz, które nie dają się łatwo wyodrębnić w bardziej autonomiczne perspektywy analizy obszarów wiejskich.

The paper presents a critical reflection on the issue of transdisciplinarity in defining interculturality as an object of scientific cognition on glottodidactics and intercultural pedagogy. Specifically, the authors propose a comparative meta-analysis of conceptualization of terms and paradigms, as well as teaching aims connected with interculturality in these two disciplines. Dywergencyjna tendencja w poznaniu i kształceniu jest tak silna, że zamiast obrazu w wysokiej rozdzielczości przestajemy widzieć rzeczywistość jako sensowną całość. Nastąpił więc czas zmąconych gatunków (blurred genres) i badań interdyscyplinarnych. Tymczasem pedagogika słabo sobie radzi z postulatem interdyscyplinarności. Rozbicie na poletka badawcze i specjalizacje blokuje pytanie o wielowymiarowe wychowanie. Problem jest jeszcze poważniejszy. Interdyscyplinarność ma także niekorzystne konsekwencje. Trzeba w tej sytuacji zmienić kulturę akademicką. Transdyscyplinarność stanowi wyższy poziom interdyscyplinarności jako zmiana statusu epistemologicznego poszczególnych nauk. Pedagogika filozoficzna w tym kontekście nie jest częścią pedagogiki, tylko wewnętrznym ruchem transdyscyplinarnym w pedagogice.
The divergence trend in cognition and education is so strong that instead of an image in high definition we cease to see the reality as a meaningful whole. Therefore, it is the time of blurred genres and interdisciplinary research. However, pedagogy hardly copes with the postulate of interdisciplinarity. The breakdown into research plots and specializations blocks the question about multidimensional education. The problem is even more serious. Interdisciplinarity also has adverse consequences, which brings on the need to change the academic culture. Transdisciplinarity makes a higher level of interdisciplinarity as a change in the epistemological status of the individual humanities. In that context, philosophical pedagogy is not just a part of pedagogy, but it is an internal transdisciplinary movement in pedagogy.

In this article I am looking into the phenomenon of boundaries' blurring and transdisciplinarity in the social sciences. I am particularly interested in the process of a mutual infiltration between humanistic existential psychotherapy, its philosophical approach, models of diagnosis, and a therapeutic process, and interpretative sociology, its assumptions of science, models of doing research, and data analysis. The main question concerns the way of reformulation and renegotiation of the existing boundaries, so that sociology could legitimately take adavantage of Gestalt theory and its applications, both in relation to science and to ethics. To attain this goal, I am investigating ontology, epistemology and metodology of these two disciplines, its similarities and differences, and drawing conclusions for the application in the research process of sociology (conceptualization, research field work, data analysis).
W tym artykule interesować mnie będzie zjawisko rozmycia i przekraczania granic między różnymi dyscyplinami w ramach nauk społecznych i humanistycznych. Skoncentruję się na analizie wzajemnego przenikania się logik charakterystycznych dla dwóch wybranych dyscyplin: podejścia, diagnozowania i sposobu pracy z klientami w psychoterapii humanistyczno-egzystencjalnej z założeniami, wytycznymi do prowadzenia wywiadów z badanymi i sposobem analizy w interpretatywnie zorientowanej socjologii. Podstawowe pytanie to, jak konkretnie przeformułowywać te granice, by socjologia w sposób uprawomocniony poznawczo w obrębie swojej dziedziny, a także w sposób uprawomocniony etycznie ze względu na badanych i badaczy mogła skorzystać z wiedzy i doświadczenia praktycznego psychoterapeutów Gestalt. W tym celu przyglądam się zagadnieniom ontologicznym, epistemologicznym i metodologicznym w obu dyscyplinach, patrzę na podobieństwa oraz różnice i wyciągam wnioski mogące służyć różnym etapom procesu badawczego w socjologii, od konceptualizacji badania przez czynności badawcze po analizę danych.

Opis:

In this article, I discuss the art of Luz María Sánchez, proposing to approach it through the conceptual category of what I term a collection or multiform artwork. I characterize the central themes of her work – violence, death and loss – and highlight the most important characteristics of her artworks, which include multiformity, fluidity, transgressiveness, transdisciplinarity, participativeness and interactivity. I likewise focus on her art’s status as artistic research and its structural and material grounding in databases and collections, as well as on its use in the context of the visual arts of sound, ethnographic research, cybercartography, subversivity and found objects. I explain how Sánchez’s art is research-interventionist in nature: she analyses social events, processes and various forms of power, focusing in particular on different forms of violence. Her works emerge from research-analytical activities based on the materials she collects and the databases she builds, which serve as the foundation for the resulting artworks. Sánchez’s political interests are an expression of indignation and concern at the same time; they express both an activist stance and ethical commitment. In her art, she addresses the fate of Mexican society which has been abandoned by state authorities and left to the mercy of drug cartels and gangs. At the same time, she develops her own personal discourse in the works she creates, discreetly telling her own story which is intertwined with the history of contemporary Mexico. Her works/collections depict a landscape after a catastrophe, expressing a sense of hopelessness and loss. At the same time, however, they paradoxically initiate or promote actions and tactics of resistance
Rozważam w tym artykule twórczość Luz Maríi Sánchez. Ujmuję ją przy użyciu proponowanej przez siebie kategorii dzieła sztuki jako kolekcji bądź dzieła wielopostaciowego (multiform artwork). Charakteryzuję centralne dla jej twórczości tematy: przemocy, śmierci i utraty. Wydobywam też najważniejsze właściwości jej dzieł: wielopostaciowość, płynność, transgresyjność, transdyscyplinarność, partycypacyjność i interaktywność, status artistic research, strukturalne i materiałowe ugruntowanie w bazach danych i kolekcjach, jak również posługiwanie się dźwiękiem w kontekście sztuk wizualnych, badania etnograficzne i cyberkartografię, wykorzystanie obiektów znalezionych i subwersywność. Uznaję, że sztuka Sánchez ma charakter badawczo-interwencyjny: analizuje wydarzenia i procesy społeczne oraz formy sprawowania władzy, skupiając się w szczególności na różnych formach przemocy. Jej dzieła wyłaniają się z pracy analitycznej, której efektem są gromadzone materiały i budowane przez artystkę bazy danych, służące jako fundament powstających dzieł. Zainteresowanie polityczne Sánchez jest wyrazem oburzenia i jednocześnie troski, jest postawą aktywistyczną i etycznym zaangażowaniem. W swej sztuce zajmuje się losem meksykańskiego społeczeństwa porzuconego przez władze państwowe, oddanego w ręce narkotykowych karteli i gangów. Jednocześnie rozwija w tworzonych dziełach swój osobisty dyskurs, dyskretnie opowiada własną historię, która splata się z historią współczesnego Meksyku. Jej dzieła-kolekcje ukazują pejzaż po katastrofie, wyrażają poczucie beznadziei, utraty. Zarazem jednak, paradoksalnie, inicjują bądź wspomagają działania sprzeciwu i taktyki oporu

Artists and scholars have long been interested in the relations between art and science. However, on account of the diverse and transgressive nature of these relations, they may escape attempts to classify them in accord with the traditional divisions of academic disciplines, which are so characteristic of contemporary times. These divisions also prove inadequate for consideration of the rapid technological and socio-cultural changes destabilizing the mutually autonomous territories of art and science. The author thus attempts to respond to the need for new conceptual frames that will allow the existing forms of collaboration between artists and scholars to be revealed and systematized in a more cross-sectional and reflective manner. For this purpose she proposes a new typology—a model organizing phenomena in which art combines with science.

Celem artykułu jest potwierdzenie tezy, że postulat transdyscyplinarności, wysuwany w  rozważaniach dotyczących współczesnego przekładoznawstwa, znajduje uzasadnienie w zbieżności podstawowych  założeń językoznawstwa kognitywnego, krytycznej analizy dyskursu i wiedzy o przekładzie. „Zwrot kulturowy” w przekładoznawstwie, odnotowany w tym samym czasie, co „zwrot kognitywny” w nauce o języku, oznacza  możliwość wkroczenia obu dyscyplin na teren praktycznie  zarezerwowany dla badań nad krytyczną analizą dyskursu. Przełamanie niechęci lub braku zainteresowania dla sąsiednich dyscyplin  prowadzi do rozszerzenia wspólnej płaszczyzny działania. Tezę ilustruje studium przypadku: przykład tłumaczenia tekstu, o którego językowym kształcie decyduje szeroki kontekst społeczny i kulturowy.
The paper argues that the postulate of transdisciplinarity, put forward by today’s TS scholars, is justified by the convergence of basic principles and assumptions which underlie Cognitive Linguistics, Critical Discourse Analysis and Translation Studies. The “cultural turn” in TS occurred at the same time as the “cognitive turn” in linguistics; both make it possible for CL and TS to cross the boundary and enter the area traditionally occupied by CAD. Overcoming the feeling of mutual reluctance or lack of interest in the research  carried out within neighbouring disciplines would make it possible to broaden the plane shared by the scholars. As an illustration, a case study is discussed, providing a text whose linguistic shape in translation is influenced by a broad social and cultural context.

Artykuł jest rozwinięciem referatu wygłoszonego na sesji „Przyszłość i perspektywy badań naukoznawczych” zorganizowanej w ramach cyklu seminariów „Nauka a społeczeństwo”. Podejmując ten temat zwracam uwagę na najbardziej charakterystyczny rys współczesnej nauki, jakim jest jej dynamika, wynikiem której, jak i jej motorem jest postęp technologiczny. Na tym tle pokazuję przemiany jakie dokonały się i nadal dokonują w nauce współczesnej. Szczególną uwagę zwracam na problemy metanaukowe w obszarze badań metodologicznych odniesionych do multi-, inter- i transdyscyplinarności oraz pewne implikacje praktyczne dla polityki naukowej. W ten sposób wskazuję na aktualność i dalsze perspektywy badań naukoznawczych, w których Polska ma bogatą tradycję.
The paper is an extended edition of my speech on the session “Future and perspectives of science on science studies” which was organized in the Polish Academy of Sciences within the framework of seminars “Science and society”. In my paper I pay a special attention on the most characteristic feature of contemporary science which is its dynamic development, the result of which as well as its efficient power is the progress in modern technologies. On this background I try to show the changes in contemporary science. My focus is made on some methodological issues in appealing to multi-, inter- and transcidisciplinary research and their implications for science policy. In this way I intend to point out the actuality and perspectives of science studies in which Poland has a rich tradition.

The book consists of texts by six authors. It concerns various dimensions of the new vision of Polish teacher studies, which was developed during the Programme Conference “Towards New Polish Studies” (Katowice, 17–18 April 2023). The texts oscillate around the diagnosis of needs and attempts to define the determinants of good Polish studies. The authors underline the fact that Polish language teaching has been interdisciplinary in nature for years, and is a sub-discipline existing between literary studies and linguistics, pedagogy and psychology, philosophy and sociology, university and school as well as theory and practice. They also point to the relationship between practicing various forms of interpretive activity and hopes for improving the level of Polish language education. At the same time, they prove that the rules of institutional evaluation break such hopes. The researchers formulate theses concerning competences and skills a Polish teacher should have in times of crisis, and highlight the role of educational research today in the face of new civilizational challenges for Polish language teaching
Na opracowanie składają się teksty sześciorga autorów. Dotyczy ono różnorodnych wymiarów nowej wizji polonistycznych studiów nauczycielskich, kwestie te zostały wypracowane podczas Konferencji Programowej „Ku Nowej Polonistyce” (Katowice, 17–18.04.2023). Wypowiedzi oscylują wokół diagnozy potrzeb i próby określenia wyznaczników dobrych studiów polonistycznych. Autorzy podkreślają, że dydaktyka polonistyczna ma od lat charakter interdyscyplinarny, to subdyscyplina istniejąca „pomiędzy” (literaturoznawstwem i językoznawstwem, pedagogiką i psychologią, filozofią i socjologią, uniwersytetem i szkołą, teorią i praktyką). Stosowane obecnie metodologie badań naukowych są często zbyt jednostronne i ograniczone, aby mogły zająć się kompleksowymi problemami zrównoważonego rozwoju. Przyjmując podaną przez Komisję Brundtland (1987) defi nicję zrównoważenia analizujemy najpierw pojęcia silnego (strong sustainability) i słabego zrównoważenia (weak sustainability), które oceniamy od strony fi lozofi i nauki w rozumieniu K. Poppera, T. Kuhna i M. Webera. Zakładając weberowskie rozumienie nauki – jako nauki uwzględniającej normatywność w sensie Wissenschaft – skupiamy się na przedstawieniu transdyscyplinarnej metody badań nad silnym zrównoważeniem. Metoda ta: (a) uzupełnia multi- i interdyscyplinarne metody badań, (b) łączy ze sobą doświadczenie naukowe i pozanaukowe, (c) jest więc tym samym widziana jako najwyższa forma scalania ze sobą różnych dyscyplin oraz kwestii praktycznych. Celem rozwiązania poszczególnych problemów zrównoważonego rozwoju konieczne jest bowiem nie tylko poszukiwanie złożonych modeli naukowych lecz przede wszystkim podejmowanie decyzji dotyczących realizacji przedsięwzięć wymagających politycznego zaangażowania rządów państw, samorządów, a także pojedynczych obywateli.
Current methodologies of scientifi c research are often too one-sided and limited to properly address the complex issues involved in sustainable development. Assuming the defi nition of sustainability put forward by the 1987 Brundtland Commission, we shall fi rst analyze the concepts of strong and weak sustainability, which we shall evaluate from the perspective of the philosophy of science, as construed by Popper, Kuhn and Weber. Assuming a Weberian understanding of science as a discipline seeking to take account of normativity in the sense implied by the term Wissenschaft, we shall focus on the presentation of a transdisciplinary approach to research into strong sustainability. Of this approach, it may be said that it (a) complements multi- and interdisciplinary research methods, (b) combines scientifi c and non-scientifi c forms of experience with one another, and (c) can, thanks to this, be regarded as furnishing the highest level at which different disciplines and practical issues can be merged. In order to successfully address specifi c problems of sustainable development, it is necessary not only to search for complex scientifi c models, but also, above all, to make decisions about the realization of initiatives that require political involvement on the part of national governments, local authorities and individual citizens.

Niestety, drogi Czytelniku, nie ma krótkiej i prostej odpowiedzi na te pytania, a ta która jest, wymaga przeczytania zebranych w tym tomie rozważań, analiz, interpretacji, czyli rozmaitych propozycji i indywidualnych sposobów rozumienia tytułowego sformułowania.
