At the beginning of the present article the author will show - referring to the classics of political thought such as Aristotle and Francesco Guicciardini - that Ukrainian society failed, so far, in the art of producing a nomocratic (rule-based) system of government. The author puts forward a thesis that this fact was decisive in the past and is decisive now about the weakness of the Ukrainian state. It opened the way for Russia’s interference in the country’s affairs and also allowed the excesses of voluntarism on the part of the wealthy and well-connected in the system of power. Then the author points out that - with few exceptions - the lands included in the territory of Ukraine are not subject to the process of formation of nomocratic forms of government typical for Western countries. Certainly nomocratic patterns were not provided to Ruthenia / Ukraine during its relations with the Polish Crown. Therefore, in their laborious construction of the state of law, Ukrainians do not have a tradition to which they could refer. This makes the complicated situation even more difficult, though, as it seems, the aim of another Maidan was to create a law-abiding state.
In the following discussion, I am of the view that reforming Ukraine may occur thanks to a statesman who will be able to gain public support during several terms of office. It does not have to be associated with the transition to authoritarian forms of government that would impede cooperation with the West and increased the credibility of the Russian narrative, which devotes a lot of time to Ukrainian fascism. Leading politicians of the Ukrainian scene would be difficult to place in the role of Men of Providence who could, in the spirit of the rule of law, pursue a policy of equal distance from Russia and the European Union, which seems to be the best use of Ukraine’s geopolitical position.
The article is dedicated to Ihor Kostetskyi, the organizer and general secretary (1957‑1979) of the Ukrainian Shakespeare Society. The article presents the history of the foundation of the Ukrainian Shakespeare Society. Special attention is paid to the organizational, publishing, and translation activities of Ihor Kostetskyi. The article analyzes archival materials proving Kostetskyi’s active participation in the Ukrainian Shakespeare Society. The article describes the main directions of the society’s activities and notes the need for further study into the history of the Ukrainian Shakespeare Society.

The article refers to the influences of the hetman as well as the monarchical idea on the Ukrainian cultural activism in the interwar period that is linked with the Greek Catholic Church. In this paper the influence of the Ukrainian conservatism activist Wiaczesław Łypyński on the journalism, the writers as well as the editors in the interwar period have been showed. The great attention has been paid to the role of Ukrainian activist in popularization of conservatism idea among the Ukrainian population of the interwar period in Poland.
The article analyzes the life and poetry of a little-known Ukrainian poet of the Polish origin Maria Karpinska-Wengrenowska (1899-1963), a member of the union of the country writers „Plough” (1922-1925). In 2007, in Kiev the book Chords o f grief of this writer was published for the first time.
The article opens a series of planned publications, in which the authors present rare, dialectical, sometimes archaic lexical units extracted from the recently published dictionaries by Ivan Vahylevych. In two variants of Idyotykon and in the Dictionary of the South- Ruthenian Language they managed to search for about 700 lexical items, which either were omitted in the Etymological Dictionary of Ukrainian Language, or require more detailed lexicological commentary. 32 words start with A-B are discussed in the article.
This article examines the mobilizing function of Ukrainian cinema in response to the Russian invasion. It starts by providing a concise overview of the mobilizing aspect of Ukrainian culture during the initial stage of Russian aggression in 2014-2019. The following section presents the situation of the Ukrainian film industry during the Russian invasion in 2022 and 2023, as well as the role played by cinema in mobilizing Ukrainian society and the world community to counter the aggressor. As shown, the production of new audiovisual content and the promotion of Ukrainian films strengthen the resiliency and unity of Ukrainians while also contributing to the formation of a coherent narrative encircling ongoing events. Furthermore, Ukraine's engagement in international film festivals and the dissemination of Ukrainian cinema via dedicated screenings play a significant role in fostering a positive perception of Ukrainians and Ukraine, acquiring moral support and financial and military aid. The article's final section analyzes recent cinematic projects related to the ongoing Russian invasion, examining the reasons and obstacles their creators face. The article is primarily based on analysis of pre-existing data sourced from the official websites of Ukrainian cultural institutions and renowned Ukrainian online media.
