Opis:: The article discusses of acquiring borrowings in the Ukrainian dialect over the territory of river San, occurring on Polish territory. Examined dialect is classified to south-western team of Ukrainian dialects and because of location it possesses features of insular dialects - peripheral. Assimilation and linguistic interference are on the factors contributing to acquiring borrowings from Polish language. This process, at the present stage of functioning of the dialect, is increasing phenomenon. Full or partial adaptation of Polish borrowings constitutes a contemporary source of enrichment of dialect vocabulary. However, the uses of this dialect retain their national and religions identity, the characteristic feature of East Slavic-Ukrainian lingual area.

Opis:: It was noted in 1965 that in one Ukrainian dialect from the Podlasie region we find the form of proposition bed in the sense of “przed” (before), instead of pered used generally in the Ukrainian language. The author accounts for it with such process as reduction of -ere- into -re- or -ē-, not without an influence of the respective Polish form przez (through) or the Church Slavic prez; vocalization of the initial p- into b-, which is possible - as testified by similar examples from the dialects and Ukrainian, Polish, and other Slavonic languages.

Opis:: The article analyses the speech of the Ukrainian community in Warmia and Mazury after 65 years of its existence in an alien linguistic milieu, which additionally has not been conducive to its religious, political and cultural life. It was the aim of the author to determine the present state of Ukrainian dialects in the constantly growing linguistic pluralism which leads to linguistic assimilation. The research material was collected in the group of respondents who were interviewed by the author. The author limited the range of conversation topics to vocabulary connected with cultivating customs and traditions of different festivals as well as rituals connected with wedding, baptism and funeral. The performed analysis shows that the processes of assimilation threaten both city dwellers as well as villagers. Still, in villages these processes are less visible and even postponed by one generation.

Opis:: The article deals with the conflicting data about the grammar of the Ukrainian emigrant dialects of the multi-lingual and multi-dialectal area between the Danube and the Dniester rivers, obtained with the help of dialectal textography and the program. The idea of the dialectal norm, which is in the program, and the reality of the language, which is in the text, determine the value of such facts as a source of the information of the dynamics, it’s detailing, stages of the dialectal formation. The analysis of these facts helps to establish the phases of the borrowing of the other dialect elements, to fix the primary stages of the formation of the new ones, the disappearance of native features, to explain the discrepancy between the new data, the information of the AUL and previous descriptive researches, to distinguish the dynamic processes, communicative factors and the other reasons of the inconsistent information, related to the multi-lingual character of the speakers, deficient taking into account the peculiarities of the grammatical phenomena in the area, the mosaic structure of the dialects and dialectal features.

Opis:: The article is devoted to the problem of the formation of the speech culture of primary school pupils who are carriers of dialectal speech. The modern linguodidactic representatives' and teachers' views of the problem raised are analyzed in the article. Opis:: The reviewed monograph is the first extensive paper on the vocabulary of the western variant of the Ukrainian language based on the texts of the ‘Twelve’, an interwar literary circle of writers from Lʹviv. The paper highlights the social dialects that functioned in Lʹviv during the interwar period, in particular the jargon of schoolchildren and athletes. Particular attention is paid to balak, which became a linguistic feature of the Batyar subculture. This subculture reached its peak in the 1920s and 1930s. Material collated from three editions of B. Nyzhankivskyi’s collection Street (1936, 1941, 1995) illustrates the specifics of Soviet editorial practice, which was aimed at limiting the use of western Ukrainian vocabulary in order to artificially bring the Ukrainian language closer to Russian.
Recenzowana monografia jest pierwszą obszerną pracą na temat słownictwa zachodniej odmiany języka ukraińskiego na podstawie tekstów "Dwunastki", międzywojennego literackiego ugrupowania pisarzy z Lwowa. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na dialekty społeczne funkcjonujące we Lwowie w okresie międzywojennym, w szczególności na żargon młodzieży szkolnej i sportowców. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na balak, który stał się językową cechą subkultury batiarskiej. Subkultura ta osiągnęła szczyt rozwoju w latach dwudziestych i trzydziestych XX wieku. Materiał zebrany z trzech wydań zbioru B. Nyzhankivskiego Ulica (1936, 1941, 1995) ilustruje specyfikę radzieckiej praktyki edytorskiej, której celem było ograniczenie użycia zachodnioukraińskiego słownictwa, aby sztucznie zbliżyć język ukraiński do rosyjskiego.
