Opis:: The article offers an analysis of the actualisation of Ukrainian vocabulary, primarily in the Galician dialect. Yurii Vynnychuk's novels Tsenzor sniv (Eng. Dream Censor) and Tango smerti (Eng. The Tango of Death) have been chosen as sources for this research. Particular attention is paid to vocabulary for naming abstract notions, some polite words, and vocabulary relating to L'viv domestic life. Furthermore, the semantic structure and stylistic features of the actualised L'viv dialect are identified. The results indicate that the vocabulary in Yurii Vynnychuk's novels was used to describe life in L'viv during the interwar period. In addition, an analysis of modern dictionaries demonstrates that Galician vocabulary, and the L'viv dialect in particular, are returning to the core of the lexical system.
Artykuł poświęcony jest aktualizacji słownictwa galicyjskiego. Materiałem badawczym są powieści Jurija Vynnychuka Cenzor sniv (2013) i Tango smerti (2016), na których podstawie autor charakteryzuje główne grupy lwowskiego koine, wyróżniając słownictwo abstrakcyjne, domowe, indywidualne wzory etykiety i wiele innych. Określa funkcje zaktualizowanego słownictwa w tekstach literackich oraz analizuje reprezentację jednostek leksykalnych we współczesnych słownikach języka ukraińskiego. Ponadto w artykule dokonana została analiza osobliwości opisu używanych skrótów słownikowych badanych leksemów.

Opis:: To illustrate the vibration characteristics of a rotating pipe in flow, experiments were conducted for a pipe in flow, a rotating pipe in still water and a rotating pipe in flow. For the pipe in flow without rotation, the trajectory diagram is ‘8’ shaped. For the rotating pipe in still water, a multiple frequency component was induced, and a ‘positive direction whirl’ was found. For the flow and rotation, at a flow velocity of 0.46 m/s, the vibration is dominated by the combination of flow and rotation. With an increase in rotating frequency, the trajectory of the rotating pipe varies from an ‘8’ shape to a circular shape and the ‘reverse direction whirl’ is induced, which is different from ‘positive direction’ in still water. The vibration frequency ratio increases uniformly with flow velocity. At a flow velocity of 1.02 m/s, at which the frequency is close to the theoretical natural frequency, the vibration frequency ratio is f*≈1. Predominantly governed by vortex-induced vibration (VIV), the vibration behavior of a rotating pipe subjected to fluid flow conditions has been found to exhibit complete vanishing of whirl. The vibration characteristics of a rotating pipe in flow are studied by the experiments which is benefit for structural drilling design.

Opis:: The paper begins with the historical facts related to the collection of CyrilloMethodian sources' photocopies in the Scientific Archive of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It aims at identifying the original manuscript copies of some Prologue Vitaе of Cyril and Methodius whose photocopies were preserved in this archive, at finding out their present location, and at checking the available data about them. Three such manuscripts are located in the National Scientific Library of Ukraine in L'viv, one in the Shevchenko Scientific Society and another one in the holdings of the L'viv National Library. The originals of eight other photocopies, however, have not been located and most probably no longer exist, which makes these photocopies the only evidence at present and thus a precious part of the Slavonic CyrilloMethodian heritage. The author of the article presents all the available information about them and publishes the transcripts of three of these photocopies.

Co więcej, listy Manteuffla rzucają też światło na jego relacje z rosyjską cenzurą. Na uwagę zasługuje również krótka wzmianka na temat czasów studenckich Manteuffla w Dorpacie. Until recently, little has been known about the cooperation of baron Gustaw Manteuffel (1832–1916), an outstanding chronicler of Polish Livonia, with the Kwartalnik Historyczny, published in Lwów (L’viv, Lemberg). Manteuffel’s letters to Aleksander Semkowicz have recently been found in the collection of the Library of the University of L’viv. These are especially valuable as they will fill the gaps in the biography of the Polish-Livonian baron. One such gap is his cooperation with the editorial staff of the Kwartalnik Historyczny and Polish historians from Galicia. The correspondence sheds light on such matters as the way in which the periodical was smuggled into the country, where it was forbidden, and Manteuffel’s relations with Russian censorship. There is a brief mention of Manteuffel’s student years at Tartu.

Opis:: Between the years 1918 and 1939, philanthropic associations played a major social role in L’viv, as did in other large Jewish communities in Central and Eastern Europe. The aim of this research paper is to present and discuss selected Jewish associations providing assistance to children, students in secular schools and youth studying at universities. It has to be pointed out that their high level of activity was an expression of the modernization processes taking place among the Jewish population and, clearly, the enhancement of these processes.
