Opis:: Na polskim rynku ukazał się w 2016 roku „Przewodnik po Watykanie” pod redakcją Roberto Cassanellego, Antonio Paulucciego i Cristiny Pantanelli. Przewodnik ten pomyśla-ny jest zarówno jako pierwsza synteza naukowa dotychczasowej wiedzy na temat kompleksu sakralno-zabytkowego na Wzgórzu Watykańskim, a zarazem jako przewodnik ukazujący wszystkie budowle Watykanu, jak i Ogrody Watykańskie – zarówno te dostępne dla zwiedzających, jak i dla nich niedostępne. Podzielony na dwie części: Watykan oraz Muzea Watykańskie przewodnik w oparciu o najnowsze ustalenia nauki prezentuje wszystkie obiekty, poprzedzając kolejne prezentacje z trasami zwiedzania wstępem historycznym przedstawiającym dzieje opisywanych obiektów. Pomimo drobnych potknięć i niedokładności jest on pierwszą taką syntezą ukazującą w przystępny sposób, lecz na bardzo wysokim poziomie naukowym, Watykan i jego wszystkie zabytki, ogrody oraz instytucje.
In 2016, the "Guide to the Vatican" by Roberto Cassanelli, Antonio Paulucci and Cris-tina Pantanelli was published in Poland. This guide was conceived as the first scientific synthesis of current knowledge about the sacral-historical complex on Vatican Hill, and also as a guide showing all the buildings of the Vatican, as well as the Vatican Gardens - both those available to visitors and unavailable to them. It is divided into two parts, the Vatican and the Vatican Museums. It is a guide, based on the latest scientific findings and presents all the objects with sightseeing routes and a historical introduction showing the history of the objects described. Despite minor mistakes and inaccuracies, it is the first such synthesis that presents the Vatican and all its monuments, gardens and institutions in an accessible way, but at a very high scientific level.

Opis:: The complex contexts of the Chinese world generated various approaches of the Vatican diplomacy, which represented interests of Catholics of two Chinese states: the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC). Backing the Taipei government, the Vatican was drawn into a direct rivalry between PRC and Taiwan for the diplomatic recognition of the latter in the world. Until 2018, the official relations of the PRC authority with Chinese Catholics were limited exclusively to the Beijing-dependent Catholic Patriotic Association. After many fruitless attempts to establish relations with PRC by papal diplomacy, “The 2018 Vatican–China Agreement” (2018 Nián de fàn zhōng xiéyì) became the first official bridge in the process of establishing diplomatic relations between these ideologically conflicted entities, in the context of maintaining diplomatic relations between the Holy See and ROC. However, after this agreement was concluded, the condition of the Catholic Church in PRC remains difficult and controversial. The divergences of interests and expectations of both parties to the agreement are considerable. However, what looks like a ‘diplomatic experiment’ of Vatican diplomacy actually becomes the specific asymmetric policy of two Chinas. Depending on the priorities and other circumstances – the focus of Vatican diplomacy shifts – not always consistently, either to Beijing or lately less frequently towards Taiwan.

Opis:: The article presents the concept of the university developed in the mid-nineteenth century by Cardinal John Henry Newman. Newman believed that the university should provide pure and universal knowledge. He was against the professionalization of academic education. According to Newman, the task of universities was to “introduce to life in society” and to “adapt to the world.” This idea grew out of European optimism and a deep belief that teachers and students were part of the same intellectual community. Newman’s concept retains its value because it is rooted in the legacy of humanistic ideal of the education present in the university from very beginnings of this institution. As we know from history university was a place for gaining universal knowledge. However, disturbing cracks can be seen in this idea, which is related to the commercialization and parameterization of the education process. Both lead to deep pathologies of academic life. We see these changes not only in Poland, but also in Western Europe and the United States. After the change of the political system in 1989, Polish universities were significantly degraded and the status of an academic teacher decreased dramatically. The only remedy is to restore universities to the autonomy they deserve and to move away from attempts to politicize or ideologize them.

It presents the main issues of the dimplomatic relations between the Vatican and polish government during its communist time and their impact on the real situation of the church in the country.
Tematem niniejszej pracy jest „Polityka Wschodnia Watykanu na przykładzie państwa polskiego w latach 1945 - 1978.” Praca przedstawia zatem najważniejsze zagadnienia oraz drogę regulowania stosunków dyplomatycznych z rządem PRL, a także jej wpływ na stosunki wyznaniowe w Polsce w okresie od zakończenia II wojny światowej i zerwania konkordatu ze Stolicą Apostolską, aż do powołania krakowskiego kardynała Karola Wojtyły na przywódcę Kościoła Katolickiego.Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia generalny stosunek Stolicy Apostolskiej do komunizmu oraz państw bloku wschodniego w okresie od zakończenia II wojny światowej aż do zakończenia pontyfikatu papieża Pawła VI. Rozdział drugi prezentuje historię stosunków Watykanu z władzami PRL w latach 1945–1958, czyli w okresie pontyfikatu papieża Piusa XII. Stan badań nad pierwszymi dziesięcioleciami historii PRL pozwolił na bardziej syntetyczne przedstawienie tematu, a sam rozdział spełnia funkcję wstępu do okresów późniejszych. W rozdziale trzecim zostały omówione kontakty podejmowane pomiędzy Stolicą Apostolską a polskimi władzami w latach 1958 - 1970, w tym tajne rozmowy mons. A. Casarolego z władzami oraz jego pierwsza oficjalna wizyta w Polsce. Rozdział czwarty przedstawia natomiast drogę normalizacji stosunków i sytuacji Kościoła w Polsce w latach 70’ zakończonych utworzeniem stałych kontaktów roboczych.

Opis:: In these remarks I make the attempt to highlight a much pointed out in the media problem of the controversial behavior of Christian clergy, including the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, as well the popes themselves. I call these sins. It is not – in my opinion – an abuse of the term, because the are a breach of norms and moral rules of that religion (and not only that). Those who commit them know about it and still they do not stop their practices – even despite the fact that one of them belongs to the sins “crying for hevean’s revenge.” Mostly those practices are being hidden before the eyes of others, and if that doesn’t succeed, they are being justified with circumstances they cannot control. It is however discussable how much these justifications are plausible.

Opis:: Particular attention should be pay on the project from 1875 of monumental organ for the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome made by the great French visionary of the symphonic organ, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll (1811-1899). This 124-stops colossus was to crown the work of Cavaillé-Coll and was “to complement the artistic achievements of the greatest masters of architecture, sculpture and painting, because music, the most religious of fine arts, did not have a worthy monument in this place” . Unfortunately, this project has never been implemented at its destination. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, around 130 years after the idea came into being, in the small village of Lichen Stary, located in the geographical center of Poland, in the largest Catholic temple of the country, the vision of Cavaillé-Coll materialized. In the years 2002-2007, the Polish company „Zaklady Organowe Zych” according to the concept of prof. Andrzej Chorosinski reproduced the sound of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll's organ in a monumental instrumentarium with 157 stops managed by a six-manual console. This article describes in detail the design of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll's organ for the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome, completed organ of the Basilica of Our Lady of Lichen in Poland and a comparative analysis of these two sound concepts.

Opis:: The article endeavours to give a bird’s eye view of catechesis in Italy as from 1870 to the threshold of Vatican Council II – 1962. The point of departure is a study of the use of the Catechism as the handbook for catechesis. The study will then move on study the efforts of individuals – from priests to Pope Pius X – who sought to positively influence catechesis through their ministry and how different Congresses and Conventions helped in trying to formulate a more coherent catechesis throughout Italy. Finally, the paper will end by a study of the Active Method which was to be the unifying factor for catechesis in Italy prior to Vatican Council II.

Opis:: The citizenship of the Vatican City State is characterised by individual features relating above all to the manner in which it is conferred and its forfeiture. The introduction of the legal category of Vatican nationality has its origins in the Lateran Treaty, but it was in 1929 when Pope Pius XI promulgated the law Legge sulla cittadinanza ed il soggiorno N. III concretising this institution which has lived to see its own reorganisation over time. Based on an analysis of Vatican legislation, it is possible to conclude that the present Vatican legislation is largely updated to current needs without losing its unique characteristics. The main intention was to present whether and how Legge sulla cittadinanza, la residenzae l’accesso N.CXXXI changes Vatican citizenship and what differences can be found in the newly created law. This process was based on a comparative method of legal acts, an analysis of the literature, as well as observation of interrelationships and dependencies. On the basis of this exercise, it was determined that the 2011 law remains within the original legal framework, but that its amendment is of a practical nature, intended to give individuals freedom of action and not to lead them to the appearance of possible negative consequences associated with the loss of citizenship.
Obywatelstwo miasta-państwa Watykan charakteryzuje się indywidualnymi cechami odnoszącymi się przede wszystkim do sposobu nadawania i jego utraty. Wprowadzenie kategorii prawnej obywatelstwa watykańskiego swój początek bierze w traktacie laterańskim, jednakże papież Pius XI w 1929 r. promulgował ustawę Legge sulla cittadinanza ed il soggiorno N. III, konkretyzującą tę instytucję, która z biegiem czasu doczekała się swojego przeorganizowania. Na podstawie analizy aktów prawnych Watykanu można wysnuć tezę, że teraźniejsze prawodawstwo watykańskie w dużym stopniu aktualizuje się do obecnych potrzeb, nie tracąc przy tym swoich unikatowych cech. Głównym zamiarem było przedstawienie tego, czy i w jaki sposób Legge sulla cittadinanza, la residenza e l’accesso N.CXXXI zmienia obywatelstwo watykańskie oraz jakie różnice odnajdziemy w nowo powstałej ustawie. Proces ten oparto na metodzie komparatystycznej aktów prawnych, analizie piśmiennictwa, a także obserwacji wzajemnych związków i zależności. Na podstawie tego działania ustalono, że ustawa z 2011 r. pozostaje w pierwotnych ramach prawnych, lecz jej zmiana ma charakter praktyczny, mający dawać jednostkom swobodę w działaniu oraz nie ma ich doprowadzać do pojawienia się ewentualnych negatywnych skutków związanych z utratą obywatelstwa.
