Opis:: A very important aspect of websites nowadays is their accessibility. Thanks to modern, constantly evolving technologies, it is possible to create friendly services for each user, regardless of his state of health. Web sites accessibility may be considered in aspects of their functionality and readability. One of methods for exploring this issue is the use of validators, i.e. automated tests to check the syntax of the documents posted on the Internet. The purpose of this article is to compare the selected tools. The structure of the article is as follows. Firstly, we explain the importance of the accessibility of the web sites. Then we briefly characterize our proposal of validators evaluation criteria for studying web-accessibility and present the results of evaluation of selected validators. Finally, we are presenting conclusions.

Opis:: Bardzo ważnym aspektem współczesnych stron internetowych jest ich dostępność. Dzięki nowoczesnym, ciągle rozwijającym się technologiom możliwe jest tworzenie serwisów przyjaznych dla każdego użytkownika, niezależnie od jego stanu zdrowia. Dostępność stron WWW może być rozważana zarówno w aspektach ich funkcjonalności, jak i czytelności. Jedną z metod badania tego zagadnienia jest zastosowanie walidatorów, tzn. automatycznych testów sprawdzających poprawność składni dokumentów umieszczonych w internecie. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest porównanie wybranych narzędzi ze wskazaniem rekomendacji. W pierwszej kolejności wyjaśniono znaczenie dostępności stron WWW, następnie krótko scharakteryzowano wybrane walidatory i przedstawiono wyniki ich oceny. Artykuł kończą wnioski ze zrealizowanego badania.
A very important aspect of websites nowadays is their accessibility. Opis:: Tematyka dostępności stron internetowych cieszy się coraz większą popularnością wśród specjalistów w dziedzinie produktów cyfrowych. Na przestrzeni lat świadomość społeczna dotycząca potrzeb osób zmagających się z niepełnosprawnościami i innymi utrudnieniami znacznie wzrosła, co przekłada się na chęć tworzenia rozwiązań odpowiadających tymże potrzebom. Celem artykułu było zbadanie stopnia dostępności cyfrowej strony internetowej Wydziału Filologicznego Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Posłużono się metodą techniczną. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że analizowana strona jest dostępna cyfrowo w średnim stopniu. Pomimo spełniania wielu podstawowych kryteriów, brakuje na niej wielu ważnych rozwiązań ułatwiających korzystanie osobom z niepełnosprawnościami oraz seniorom.
The topic of web accessibility is becoming increasingly popular among digital product specialists. Over the years, public awareness of the needs of people struggling with disabilities and other handicaps has increased significantly, which translates into a desire to create solutions to meet those needs. The purpose of this study was to examine the degree of accessibility of the digital website of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz. A technical method was used. The study showed that the analyzed website is digitally accessible to a medium degree. Despite meeting many basic criteria, it lacks a number of important solutions to facilitate the use of people with disabilities and seniors.

Opis:: The article presents experiences from the “Copernicus Multisenses” project implemented by the Copernicus Science Center in 2023. Its goal was to increase accessibility for people with visual and hearing impairments. The article focuses on the research and participatory aspects of the project, paying attention to the challenges related to the stereotypical perception of disability in the context of cultural institutions. The article also analyzes the categories of scientific and cultural capital that influence the participation of people with disabilities in cultural institutions. The study accompanying the project was concerned with improving the accessibility of space and exhibits at the Copernicus Science Center for people with visual and hearing impairments, while including the active participation of these people in identifying accessibility barriers. The conducted study was based on the disability studies framework. The article poses a question of what the true accessibility is in a science center.

Tytuł:: Audio describing films : a first look into the description process

Opis:: This article uses the data gathered in an experiment carried out to investigate audio description decision-making processes to analyse the scripting process of audio description for films. As part of the study, describers from Poland and Spain prepared audio description for ten clips from Polish and Spanish films. Data was collected through a multi-method approach, which included keylogging, think-aloud verbalisations, screen and face recording. Results, based on a qualitative analysis of screen and face recordings and think-aloud protocols, show that the audio description scripting process resembles operations involved in both writing and translating, and may be divided into three main processes (pre-drafting, drafting and post-drafting) and seven intertwining subprocesses (understanding, planning, searching, generating text, revising, reviewing, and cueing).

Opis:: Przedmiotem badań jest korzystanie z oferty instytucji kultury przez osoby z niepełnosprawnościami. Na wstępie przedstawiono wyniki badań innych autorów dotyczące tej tematyki. Wskazano jednocześnie, że brakuje przekrojowych badań, które dotyczyłyby uczestnictwa w kulturze zróżnicowanego grona odbiorców z niepełnosprawnościami. Zidentyfikowana luka badawcza została uzupełniona poprzez realizację badań własnych, mających charakter pilotażowy. Ich celem było wskazanie w jaki sposób osoby z niepełnosprawnościami korzystają z oferty instytucji kultury i co zrobić była ona dla nich bardziej dostępna. Problem badawczy został sformułowany w następujący sposób: jakie są oczekiwania i potrzeby osób z niepełnosprawnością w zakresie szeroko rozumianego uczestnictwa w kulturze oraz poziomu ich zaspokojenia przez instytucje kultury w Małopolsce. W badaniu wykorzystano technikę ankiety. Przeprowadzone badania pilotażowe dotyczące uczestnictwa w kulturze osób z niepełnosprawnościami pozwalają stwierdzić, że badane osoby potrzebami chętnie korzystają z oferty instytucji kultury oraz zauważają pozytywne zmiany w dostosowaniu małopolskich instytucji kultury do potrzeb osób z niepełnosprawnościami jakie nastąpiły w przeciągu ostatnich dwóch lat, ale jednocześnie wskazują co jeszcze jest wymaga poprawy. Osoby z niepełnosprawnościami wskazują, że największą barierą w dostępie do oferty kulturalnej są bariery społeczne, wynikające z niezrozumienia potrzeb osób z niepełnosprawnościami.
The subject of the research is the use of the offer of cultural institutions by people with disabilities. The results of research by other authors on this topic are presented in the beginning. At the same time, it was pointed out that there is a lack of cross-sectional research that would concern the participation of a diverse group of audience with disabilities in culture. The identified research gap was filled by conducting own pilot research. Their goal was to show how people with disabilities use the offer of cultural institutions and what to do to make it more accessible to them. The research problem was formulated as follows: What are the expectations and needs of people with disabilities in terms of broad-understood participation in culture and the level of satisfaction of cultural institutions in Małopolska. The survey technique was used in the study. Pilot studies conducted on the participation of people with disabilities in culture allow us to conclude that surveyed people with special needs willingly use the offer of cultural institutions and notice positive changes in the adaptation of cultural institutions of Małopolska to the needs of people with disabilities that have occurred over the last two years, but at the same time indicate what else is left to do. People with disabilities indicate that the biggest barrier to access to the cultural offer is social barrier resulting from a lack of understanding of the needs of people with disabilities.

Opis:: Niniejsza praca została zrealizowana w ramach studiów II stopnia na kierunku Elektroniczne Przetwarzanie Informacji na wydziale Zarządzania i Komunikacji Społecznej Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Jej głównym celem jest dogłębna analiza user experience serwisów krakowskich uczelni wyższych. Strony krakowskich uczelni wyższych w znacznej mierze utrudniają użytkownikowi m.in: proces rekrutacji na studia, odnalezienie potrzebnych wnioskówi dokumentów czy innych niezbędnych informacji. Często brakuje na nich funkcjonalności bądź są one źle nazwane. Zauważalnym problemem jest także brak estetyki wykonania tych serwisów oraz panujący chaos i nieintuicyjne rozmieszczenie elementów. Podczas analizy należy też zwrócić uwagę na bardzo ważną kwestię spełniania przez stronę standardu WCAG 2.1. Odbiorcy tych stron - głównie studenci - często nie są świadomi w czym tkwi problem. Dzięki wnioskom płynącym z badania, powstały jasne rozwiązania dotyczące tego, co w tych serwisach należałoby zmienić.
The thesis was created as part of the master's degree studies in the field of Electronic Information Processing at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication of the Jagiellonian University. Its main goal is an in-depth analysis of the user experience of Kraków's universities' websites. Unfortunately, those websites contain a lot of difficulties for users, among others, in the recruitment process path, in finding the necessary applicationsand documents or other information. They often do not have proper functionalities or the features are misnamed. A noticeable problem is also the lack of aesthetics of these websites, as well as the prevailing chaos and unintuitive arrangement of elements. During the analysis, attention should also be paid to the very important issue of meeting the WCAG 2.1 standard by the website. The recipients of these websites - mainly students - are often not aware of the problem. Thanks to the conclusions of the study, clear solutions were created regarding what should be changed on these websites.

Niniejsza praca badawcza analizuje przedstawienie zmieniającej się tożsamości brytyjskiej klasy średniej w dziełach Mike'a Leigh, zwłaszcza "Abigail's Party" i "Another Year", w kontekście społeczno-politycznej transformacji od ery Thatcher do współczesnych czasów. Podczas narastania wpływów Thatcher, posiadanie domu na własność stało się centralnym symbolem aspiracji klasy średniej, podkreślając etos prywatyzacji i indywidualizmu, jak zostało to zilustrowane poprzez postać Beverley w "Abigail's Party". Jednakże, posiadanie domu staje się nieosiągalne dla wielu, odzwierciedlając wyzwania i redefinicje tożsamości klasy średniej w krajobrazie po Thatcher. Ponadto filmy Leigh podkreślają ewolucję ról kobiet, sygnalizując szersze zmiany w dynamice płci w brytyjskim społeczeństwie.
