Opis:
In this paper the results of experimental research of residual deflection accumulation process in plates under the influence of repeated static loads in the mode of “creeping” and “relaxing” are presented. The main ideas of the nature of plate deformation, which make it possible to take into account the history of loading resulting deformation, and the results of modeling the process of accumulation of residual deflections in the use of short-term service loads are formulated in this document.

Opis:
The basic information on an algorithm of a family of new triangularprism, 3D-based, hpq/hp-adaptive, solid-to-shell transition finite elements has been presented in the paper, where h, p and q detonate an averaged size as well as longitudinal and transverse orders of approximation of the elements, respectively. Novelty of the elements consists in application of hpq- and hp-approximations in solid and shell parts of the elements, respectively. In that context, crucial parts of the algorithm such as: hierarchical shape functions, modification of the stiffness and nodal forces of the shell part of the elements, and constrained hpq/hp-approximation are elucidated. Usefulness of the elements for modelling and analysis of complex structures is proved by a numerical example.
Algorytm rodziny opartych na podejściu trójwymiarowym, adaptacyjnych, przejściowych elementów skończonych typu hpq/hp. Praca przedstawia algorytm rodziny nowych, opartych na podejściu trójwymiarowym, pryzmatycznych, adaptacyjnych elementów przejściowych od elementów bryłowych do powłokowych. Elementy oparto na aproksymacjach typu hpq/hp, gdzie h,p i q oznaczają średni wymiar elementu oraz wzdłużny i poprzeczny rząd aproksymacji. Istotne novum zapropowanych elementów polega na zastosowaniu w części powłokowej elementu adaptacyjnej aproksymacji typu hp, a w części bryłowej adaptacyjnej aproksymacji typu hpq. W tym kontekście omówiono dokładniej hierarchiczne funkcje kształtu, modyfikacje macierzy sztywności i wektora sił elementów oraz aproksymacje z więzami. Przydatność elementów w modelowaniu i analizie struktur złożonych potwierdzono zamieszczonym przykładem numerycznym.

Opis:
In this paper we present a hypergraph grammar based multi-frontal solver for three dimensional grids with point singularities. We show experimentally that the computational cost of the resulting solver algorithm is linear with respect to the number of degrees of freedom. We also propose a reutilization algorithm that enables to reuse LU factorizations over unrefined parts of the mesh when new local refinements are executed by the hypergraph grammar productions.

Opis:
The first part of our paper presents a composite programmable graph grammar model for the self-adaptive two dimensional hp Finite Element Method algorithms (2D hp-FEM) with mixed triangular and rectangular finite elements. The two dimensional model is a starting point for the three dimensional model of self-adaptive hp-FEM presented in the second part of this paper. A computational mesh is represented by a composite graph. The operations performed over the mesh are expressed by the graph grammar rules. The three dimensional model is based on the extension of the two dimensional model with rectangular finite elements. In the second part of this paper, we conclude the presentation with numerical examples concerning the generation of the optimal mesh for simulation of the Step-and-Flash Imprint Lithography (SFIL).

Opis:
The paper presents a system of Composite Graph Grammars (CGGs)modelling adaptive two dimensional hp Finite Element Method (hp-FEM) algorithms with rectangular finite elements. A computational mesh is represented by a composite graph. The operations performed over the mesh are defined by the graph grammar rules. The CGG system contains different graph grammars defining different kinds of rules of mesh transformations. These grammars allow one to generate the initial mesh, assign values to element nodes and perform h- and p-adaptations. The CGG system is illustrated with an example from the domain of geophysics.

Opis:
In this paper we introduce formal definitions for several graph transformation systems modeling three dimensional h-adaptive Finite Element Method (3D h-FEM) algorithms with tetrahedral finite elements. We introduce a composite graph representation of the computational mesh and graph transformation rules expressing the mesh operations. In particular, there are graph transformation rules expressing the generation of the initial mesh consisting with tetrahedral finite elements, graph transformation rules expressing the construction of an elimination tree for interfacing with multi-frontal direct solver algorithm, graph transformation rules selecting sub-graph representing finite elements for further refinements, graph transformation rules responsible for execution of mesh refinements. We also discuss several benefits of using graph transformation system instead of classical FEM approach, including the benefits from the viewpoint of multi-frontal direct solvers.

Opis:
In this paper we present several graph transformation systems modeling three dimensional h-adaptive Finite Element Method (3D h-FEM) algorithms with tetrahedral finite elements. In our approach a computational mesh is represented by a composite graph and mesh operations are expressed by the graph transformation rules. Each graph transformation system is responsible for different kind of operations. In particular, there is a graph transformation system expressing generation of an initial mesh, generating element matrices and elimination trees for interfacing with direct solver algorithm, a graph transformation system deciding which elements have to be further refined, as well as a graph transformation system responsible for execution of mesh refinements. These graph transformation systems are tested using a graph transformation tool (called GRAGRA), which provides a graphical environment for defining graphs, graph transformation rules and graph transformation systems. In this paper we illustrate the concepts by using an exemplary derivation for a three dimensional projection problem, based on a set of graph transformation rules.

Opis:
We present a mesh adaptation method by node movement for two-dimensional linear elasticity problems with unilateral contact. The adaptation is based on a hierarchical estimator on finite element edges and the node displacement techniques use an analogy of the mesh topology with a spring network. We show, through numerical examples, the efficiency of the present adaptation method.

Opis:
In this paper, we present a solver for non-stationary problems using L 2 projec- tion and h -adaptations. The solver utilizes the Euler time integration scheme for time evolution mixed with projection-based interpolation techniques for solving the L 2 projection problem at every time step. The solver is tested on the model problem of a heat transfer in an L-shape domain. We show that our solver delivers linear computational cost at every time step.

Opis:
This paper concerns the modeling and analysis of machine elements using the adaptive finite element method. The adaptation used is of hpq type, which means that the finite element dimension h and element transverse q and longitudinal p approximation order may be different in each element. These parameters are determined automatically by the program to obtain modeling and approximation error levels not higher than the assumed admissible level of the errors. The presented paper focuses on the use of transition elements between basic elements corresponding to the three-dimensional theory of elasticity and the first-order shell model. Three applied transition elements differ in their assumptions regarding the continuity of the displacement, strain, and stress fields between the basic models. The effectiveness of the application of transition elements was assessed in terms of the removal of the internal boundary layer at the boundary between the models and the convergence of adaptive solutions taking into account these models.
