Opis:
The research was carried out as part of the research project N N 404 260335 “The lifestyle of children and adolescents and their level of athleticism, fitness and somatic development” during Crampton test in 2633 students of elementary, secondary and high schools in West Pomeranian Voivodeship. 214 subjects, that is 8.1% of the whole group, were qualified for the group with the hypertension. The arterial hypertension was reported in 7.9% of girls and 8.4% of boys. The statistically significant dependencies between the prevalence of arterial hypertension and the size of metropolitan area where the children and adolescents live, as well as their sex were observed.

Aim: To bring us closer the problem of interaction between the experience of trauma in relationship with parents and perception of attachment of adolescent patients from a psychiatric hospital. To compare two groups - clinical with untreated adolescents Method: Seventy people were examined. The clinical group consisted of thirty inpatients of child and adolescent psychiatric hospital. The control group consisted of forty secondary school students. The method was based on the use of questionnaires to survey the perception of relationships (PBI) and trauma (CTQ). Results: The study showed difference in traumatic experiences between adolescent patients of a psychiatric hospital and the control group. The study identified more emotional neglect in clinical group. The study identified a slight difference in attachment perception. The study indicated connection between trauma and the perception of attachment. Conclusions: The reporting of trauma, signification of traumatic experience and perception of parental protection are relevant factors in risk of psychiatric hospitalization in adolescence
Celem pracy była próba przedstawienia powiązań pomiędzy doświadczeniem traumy w relacji z rodzicami a percepcją więzi u młodzieży, która w związku z kryzysem psychicznym została hospitalizowana w stacjonarnym oddziale psychiatrycznym. Określenie różnic było możliwe dzięki porównaniu grupy klinicznej z grupą młodzieży nieleczonej. Istotne było również zastosowanie narzędzia dotyczącego wydarzeń traumatycznych (CTQ).

Clinical and psychosocial characteristics of adolescent pediatric patients hospitalized after different types of suicidal behaviors : a preliminary study

Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine the clinical characteristics of adolescents hospitalized after a suicide attempt or instrumental suicide-related behavior. Methods: Participants included thirty-six adolescents from the pediatric unit of a Polish hospital who made a nonfatal suicide attempt (SAA) or engaged in instrumental suicide-related behavior (IBA), as well as a general population sample (GPS). Psychosocial features were measured using the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (K-SADS), the Social and Occupational Functioning Assessment Scale (SOFAS), the Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R), the Psychache Scale (TPS), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Center of Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale for Children (CES-DC), and the Prodromal Questionnaire (PQ-16). Results: The SAA group scored significantly higher than the IBA group and the GPS in modules related to irritability and anhedonia, voice hallucinations and delusions, suicidal acts, thoughts and ideation, and medical lethality. Additionally, the SAA scored higher on the SBQ-R and PQ-16 compared to the IBA group and the GPS. Conclusions: Although anxiety, mental pain, and depressive symptoms could not independently distinguish between the SAA and IBA groups, psychotic symptoms were more frequently present within the SAA group. The above symptoms may be important to consider when screening for suicide risk in the general population.

Tematem artykułu jest znaczenie profilaktyki i wsparcia nastolatków z zaburzeniami depresyjnymi. Kryzys zdrowia psychicznego w tej grupie wiekowej znacząco się nasilił w ostatnich latach, co jest wynikiem m.in. dynamicznych i nieprzewidywalnych zmian zachodzących w sferze życia społecznego, gospodarczego i cywilizacyjnego, dlatego poruszone w artykule zagadnienia mają na celu zwrócenie uwagi na upowszechnianie wiedzy na temat prewencji i wzmocnienia kondycji emocjonalnej młodzieży. W toku analiz wyraźnie podkreślono, że zarówno szkoła, rodzina, jak i troska o siebie są w stanie znacząco wpłynąć na zdrowie psychiczne nastolatków. Zwrócono uwagę na szkołę, która powinna zapewniać dostęp do psychologów szkolnych, realizować programy i warsztaty oraz promować wspierającą edukację. Dom rodzinny powinien tworzyć bezpieczną atmosferę komunikacji, zrozumienia i akceptacji, gdzie podstawą będzie bliskość i wspólne rozwiązywanie problemów wieku dojrzewania. Nastolatek z kolei nie powinien bać się szukać i prosić o pomoc oraz starać się podejmować świadome działania w celu zadbania o swój dobrostan.
The article describes the importance of prevention and support for adolescents with depressive disorders. The mental health crisis in this age group has significantly increased in recent years, which is the result of, among other things, dynamic and unpredictable changes in the sphere of social, economic and civilisational life, therefore the issues raised in the article are intended to draw attention to the dissemination of knowledge about prevention and strengthening the emotional condition of adolescents. The analyses clearly emphasized that school, family and self-care can significantly influence the mental health of adolescents. Attention was paid to the school, which should provide access to school psychologists, implement programmes and workshops and promote supporting education. The family home should create a safe atmosphere of communication, understanding and acceptance, where closeness and joint solving problems of adolescents would be the basis. An adolescent, in turn, should not be afraid to seek and ask for help and try to take conscious actions to take care of his or her well-being.

This paper presents some findings of a crosscultural research project on everyday family interactions with teenagers in Estonia, Finland, and Sweden – North European cultures that have all been traditionally characterized as relatively silent and reserved in comparison with other European nations. The three monocultural groups consisted of 17 Estonian, 19 Swedish, and 18 Finnish families living in their country of origin; the two bicultural and bilingual groups consisted of 18 Estonian and 18 Finnish families residing in Sweden. The results revealed that little talk characterizes all Estonian and Finnish families, whereas the Swedish mothers living in Sweden talked a lot. The Estonian mothers living in Estonia tended to be more concerned with controlling their children’s behavior, and elicited conversation from teenagers more frequently. At the same time, the Swedish mono-cultural teenagers were more talkative and more active in controlling their mothers’ behavior than their counterparts, exhibiting a higher degree of symmetrical mother-child interaction than their Estonian and Finnish counterparts. Finally, the discussion focuses on possible reasons and consequences of cultural variability in teenagers’ and their mothers’ conversational style.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to evaluate the perception of violence held by children and adolescents aged 8 to 16 years based on their artworks. 163 children’s drawings submitted from across Poland on "Children against violence." were analyzed. These pictures were analysed according to their contents. The artworks were made using various techniques: torn paper collage, collage, wax scratch, coloring pages, painting using poster paints and watercolors. Drawings have been classified in twelve thematic groups: "aggression against things", "peer violence","violence and addiction", "family violence", "workplace violence", "on-line violence," verbal violence", the continuity of violence", difficult choices" ,and " help ". Children and adolescents are good observers and they see various forms of violence, especially signs of bullying, and the impact of addictions on their development. Children know how to avoid and reduce violence.

The objective of this research was to determine whether and what differentiates the intensity of negative and positive emotions amongst socially adjusted and maladjusted adolescents. Empirical studies were conducted on a sample of 380 lower and higher secondary school students and 104 juveniles living in five different rehabilitation facilities. To measure the variables a questionnaire was constructed including statements allowing respondents to describe the frequency of 13 positive and 13 negative emotions. Socially maladjusted teenagers declare experiencing positive emotions rarer than their well-adjusted peers attending lower and higher secondary schools. On the other hand the students from public schools more frequently declare feeling some negative emotions (disgust, contempt, stress and disaffection) in comparison with rehabilitation facilities’ juveniles..

This article will refers to the normative nature of emotions in the suicidal situation of children and adolescents aged 12-19. Suicides are a huge problem for the 21st century civilization. Many countries have negative birth rates (The World Factbook –Poland: -0,11, 2014), suicide continues to be committed by very young people. The normality of emotion in suicide attempt is worth exploring subject. Suicidal thoughts, attempts or suicide are stigmatized in society - these actions are a departure from accepted principles or norms. Emotions, especially the negative ones, are an inseparable part of the suicide process. Due to the dangers that occur in the present day, it is worth paying attention to preventive and preventive measures directed mainly to the youngest representatives of society.
