Opis:: The aim of the paper is to stress that in the crisis of verbality observed specially in mass communication there is an urgent need for changing the direction of the discussion about the aesthetic value of verbal texts which is in progress in philological community. The change proposed is that the priority should be given to intellectual value manifested by the gradual category which could be named for the purposes of presented considerations as the thoroughness of the text. The novelty lies in the fact that the thoroughness of the verbal content is viewed in the context of a possible application to detect AI-generated text which is the real challenge posed to the 21st century communication researchers.

Opis:: The author, inspired by philosophical aesthetic reflection, presents one of the aesthetic qualities: ugliness. Based on the assumption that “Grimms’ Fairy Tales” directly reach the realm of the unconscious, utilising towards that end not only symbolic meaning, but also a wide range of operations through imagined sensory perception, she identifies in the texts such fragments of the stories which relate to specific sensations caused in the real world using physical stimuli. The analysis constitutes only a case-based introductory study of the issue of senses in literary texts. She does not focus on the tale as an independent existential creation, which carries a multitude of interpretative references and meanings, only the possibilities offered by the analysis of a work, which consists of a transfer of a literary description to the imagination of the sensory experience occurring (hypothetically) in the receiver’s imagination.

Opis:: The text considers the concept of aestheticization and the influence of mass culture on it in the light of Stefan Morawski’s views. Morawski adopted a value-laden attitude towards mass art. That is why in his reflections on aestheticization processes its role remains unnoticed by him, contrary to his original declarations. This is why I have to ask Morawski questions that he leaves unanswered. Does in fact the spectacularity of contemporary life result in its “art-like” constitution? The author of the essay gives a positive answer here, stressing that mass art becomes the model for shaping life, and tries to answer what this pattern is based on. Thus Morawski’s views appear here as a negative point of reference. The positive part of the considerations, on the other hand, focuses on Walter Benjamin and Jean Baudrillard.

Opis:: In order to understand the effects of ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation and salinity stress on the visual quality and morphological parameters, one-year-old seedlings of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) were grown under three UV-B levels (0, 4.32, 6.05 kJ m-2 d-1) and four salinity regimes (Control, 50, 100 and 150 mM NaCl) under greenhouse conditions. The results showed that enhanced UV-B radiation increased visual quality, growth index, plant biomass, shoot/root ratio, number of branches and leaves, leaf fresh and dry weight, leaf area index, specific leaf area, leaf thickness. The UV-B radiation had no significant effect on root length; however, shoot height, length of axillary shoots, length of inter node, leaf area, leaf length and width and concentration of chlorophyll b were negatively impacted by the UV-B radiation. On the other hand, salinity caused a significant decrease in plant biomass, root length, shoot height, shoot/root ratio, length of axillary shoots, length of inter node, number of branches and leaf area, leaf area index, leaf length and width, leaf fresh and dry weight, specific leaf area and concentration of Photosynthetic pigments. However, the number leaves and leaf thickness significantly increased under NaCl salinity treatments. Visual quality and growth index were hardly affected by increasing salinity until 100 mM, but declined clearly at 150 mM NaCl salinity. The interaction between UV-B irradiation and salinity showed that pre-treatment with UV-B irradiation alleviated the harmful effects of NaCl and improved the visual quality rosemary plants.

Opis:: This paper presents the results of the study on the heritage value of 85 forest memory sites of the Pomeranian Crime of 1939. Almost all of the areas surveyed were found to be characterised by high or outstanding historic and intangible value, while aesthetic value was found to be the lowest of all the values included in the analysis. The author discussed the relationship between the aesthetic value of the forest, the value of cultural heritage and forest management methods in cultural landscapes under State Forests administration.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań nad wartością dziedzictwa kultury 85 leśnych miejsc pamięci Zbrodni Pomorskiej 1939 roku. Stwierdzono, że niemal wszystkie obszary charakteryzuje wysoka lub wybitna wartość historyczna i niematerialna, natomiast walory estetyczne charakteryzują się najniższym poziomem spośród wszystkich wartości objętych analizą. Autorka omówiła relacje zachodzące pomiędzy wartością estetyczną lasu, wartością dziedzictwa kultury i metodami zagospodarowania i hodowli lasu w krajobrazach kulturowych administrowanych przez Lasy Państwowe.

Opis:: Stairways are one of the built elements of landscape architecture that shape the character of a space. Our research takes a closer look at the stairways of historical value in the environment of Buda Castle World Heritage Site. Firstly, through the production of sketches, the dominant spatial effects, views, focal points and motifs perceived during the use of the chosen stairways, were analysed. Secondly, an assessment matrix was formulated from criteria such as scale, materials, size, quality of adjacent green spaces, etc. Our aim is to underline and give evidence of the potential of stairways in influencing the open spaces and the views in historical urban environments.
Schody terenowe są obiektami architektury krajobrazu kształtującymi charakter przestrzeni. Omówione tu badania prezentują w bliższym ujęciu historyczne schody w otoczeniu wpisanego na Listę Światowego Dziedzictwa UNESCO Zamku w Budzie. Jako pierwsze przeanalizowano dominujące efekty przestrzenne, widoki, punkty formalnie ważne i motywy dostrzegane podczas korzystania ze schodów. Jako drugą - na podstawie kryteriów, takich jak skala, materiały, wielkość, jakość przyległych terenów zieleni itp. - sformułowano macierz oceny. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie dowodów na potencjał schodów terenowych do wpływania na otwarte przestrzenie i widoki w historycznych środowiskach miejskich.

Opis:: There are various authors who discussed the nature and manner of the existence of aesthetic values and the characterisation of aesthetic experience, among others, Thomas Acquinas, Roman Ingarden, Władysław Tatarkiewicz, Stanisław Ossowski, and Mieczysław Wallis. Taking into consideration their positions, the author claims that, potentially, each object as a coincidence of respective qualities is suitable for an aesthetic attitude. It may appear aesthetically somewhat, such that it alone may move (with its contents), i.e. it may draw attention, stir, delight, arouse fancy, affect strongly. All this may be done „disinterestedly”, therefore without any reference to the practical sphere (to the sphere of usefulness, profit), nor should this object be a source of pleasure („cause good composition”).
