Opis:
Consumers are increasingly aware of the health- and safety-related implications of the food which they can buy in the market. At the same time, households have become more aware of their environmental responsibilities. Regarding the production of food, a crucial and multifunctional role is played by agriculture. The way vegetables, fruits, and other crops are grown and how livestock is raised has an impact on the environment and landscape. Operations performed by farmers, such as water management, can be dangerous for the soil and the whole ecosystem. Consequently, there is a search for natural ways of sustaining the impact of agriculture on the environment. In this context, one of the most popular ideas is organic agriculture. In the literature on the subject, there are many concepts that some authors consider to be synonymous even as others argue that these terms are not interchangeable. There is, for example, "organic agriculture," "alternative agriculture," "sustainable agriculture," "ecological agriculture," "biological agriculture," "niche farming," "community-supported agriculture," and "integrated pest management." Very often, techniques and products related to organic agriculture are described by marketing experts with the use of abbreviations such as "bio" and "eco." Products with such markings and labels are increasingly popular in stores that often give them separate shelves for their sale. Despite the higher price compared to conventional products, they are increasingly sought by consumers. The entry examines the various impacts of organic agriculture with a view to these trends.

Opis:
At the turn of the 21st century Polish agriculture intensively changed as the consequence of: 1) the socio-economic transformation that started in 1989, 2) the general transition from a centrally-planned economy to a market economy and 3) Poland’s accession in 2004 to the European Union. In this paper, we try to describe, in a synthetic way, the spatial heterogeneity of development of agriculture in Poland. For this purpose we identified the types of contemporary Polish agriculture. We applied the measures of global (Moran 1950) and local (LISA) spatial autocorrelation devised by L. Anselin (1995) and used their calculations in classification methods. Our dataset consists of 69 variables and 3,069 spatial units at the LAU2 level. As the result of the analysis we identified 20 types of agriculture in Poland and presented their characteristic features. We have paid particular attention to a spatial distribution of identified types. We concluded that the distribution is not only a result of natural or socio-economic conditions and local spatial relationships, but also to a greater extent is still affected by historical conditions (mainly partitions and changes of borders after the First and Second World Wars).

Opis:
In the face of current global threats, including the COVID-19 Pandemic, new technological solutions are needed. Globalization, progressing urbanization, the decreasing availability of cultivable land for food production, water contamination, flood risk and climate change, can all be viewed as potential threats to food safety. According to forecasts and trends, the future of both agricultural policy and agricultural innovation will be based on big data, data analytics and machine learning. Therefore, it is and will continue to be important to develop information systems dedicated to agricultural innovation and the management of food security challenges. The main aim of the study is a classification of data for a uniform AMIS from data from IREIS, GC and AIIS based on survey and expert interview data obtained. We propose to expand the range of data produced by small farmers while keeping in mind the protection of farmers and their rights and the possible benefits of the data provided. The literature recognizes the value of such data but it has not yet been legally regulated, protected, managed and, above all, properly used for agricultural and food security policy purposes. Therefore, we develop the idea of extended farmers’ participation in the production of agricultural activity data. The research used a survey questionnaire and expert interviews. A viable AIIS needs current data that farmers already produce as well as additional data needs which we identify in our research. We propose an architecture of databases and describe their flow in the Agriculture Management Information System (AMIS).

Opis:
The subject of this paper is to attempt to assess the legal regulation relating to the conservation of the resources, formations and elements of the nature in the agricultural activity carried out in the areas covered by one of the forms of the nature conservation. The analysis of the Nature Conservation Act of 2004 demonstrates that the legislature put in place a few limitations of the agricultural activity, related to the use of resources and elements of nature in the valuable areas due to the natural values. The scope of the prohibitions and restrictions laid down in the specific form of nature conservation depends on its objectives and functions. The subject of the analysis was the legal term “rational agriculture” with respect to the intended sustainable use of the natural resources. In the present Act, one claimed lack of specific instruments introducing requirement or even encouraging the making, in areas covered by conservation area, including agricultural activities, which helps to maintain high nature value. Ordering the terminology and adapting it to modern concepts of environmental protection, regulation of forest management, it would be time to replace the term “rational agriculture” to “sustainable agriculture”, referring to the modern concept of sustainable socio–economic development, the needs of environmental protection. It should be more precisely defined in relation to the term of the existing legal standards for environmental protection in agricultural activities, such as cross–compliance requirements. Regardless of the adopted terminology the legal term rational or sustainable farming should be referenced to the cross compliance requirements.

Opis:
Idea zrównoważonego rozwoju rolnictwa to silny bodziec do wdrożenia nowoczesnych metod i koncepcji zarządzania w gospodarstwach rolnych.
From the dawn of history, humanity is struggling with the phenomenon of hunger, the elimination of which is determined by the production of food and its distribution. Despite the ever-improving efficiency, agriculture is not able to match the growing number of consumers in the world and their increasing requirements while maintaining care for the environment. Innovation that can prevent the negative effects of global problems (including climate change, scarcity of raw materials or demographic change, etc.) is one of European Commission’s current main priorities. The idea of agriculture’s sustainable development is a strong incentive to implement modern methods and concepts of farms management. The lean management method can increase the effectiveness of implemented activities, increase efficiency and minimize the number of production wastes for the benefit of the natural environment. The article presents, for the first time in the Polish literature, the application of lean management method in agriculture. For this purpose, the indicators have been presented that have an impact on the synergy of lean and green management systems in an agricultural holding. The proposed synergy model allows to determine the level of maturity of proposed indicators in a selected Polish farm.
