Opis:
The previous measurement campaigns planning used in geodesy is conducted exclusively for individual points. For the natural process aimed at the adoption of the introduction of the planning (prediction of constellation state) in navigation, which is characterized by the movement, one should adopt measurement campaigns planning for linear objects. In contrast to the existing planning solutions, focused on point presentation of the state of the constellation of navigation system, the author of this article rearranges the proposal of determination of geometrical factors, and their summation. In the presented simulation, one has specified the route of passing at certain times and it was assumed that the receiver will move with variable motion. One has defined the geometric ratios (PDOP), which allow to distinguish the results corresponding to the adopted criteria for the measurement of linear object to be conducted with the best possible accuracy.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to picture the characteristics and functions of traditional Chinese calendars and almanacs. In traditional Chinese society, great attention was paid to everything being done at the “right time”. Primarily, this only concerned matters strictly related to field works and rituals, but over time, attempts to harmonize human activities with the course of nature led to the point that almost every sphere of Chinese life depended on the positive or negative influence of the prevailing time. The ability to “manage time” properly was what made the ruler the Son of Heaven. This resulted in the creation of an extremely complicated system of time notation, which involved many different, mutually complementary methods based on natural cycles and historical periods. Calendars and almanacs played the role of a “temporal map” used to guide people in a world of complex relations between time and human life.

Opis:
Belgian novelist Marie Gevers lived all her life surrounded by venerable trees alongside a pond, in the gorgeous estate of Missembourg. Her imagination and sensibility were deeply impregnated by the changing of natural elements and seasons, which were enhanced as authentic characters in her literary work. Plaisir des météores (1938) is emblematic of this impregnation, being a personal and poetical rewriting of legendary almanacs, which invigorated less-literate populations in the remote countryside for centuries after the invention of the printing press. Enlightened by this particular tradition and an analysis of the author’s creative stylistic devices, season renewal appears as an everlasting dramaturgy, leading us to adapt ourselves to the world’s perpetual metamorphosis, in a pure Ode to Joy.

Opis:
This article presents a short history of the origin and creation of the Almanac “Women and Russia,” which began as a samizdat underground publication devoted to the problem of women and childrearing in the USSR. The idea for creating such an Almanac originated in the mid 1970s in the Leningrad circle of ‘unofficial culture’, at the initiative of the artist Tatyana Mamonova, religious philosopher Tatyana Goricheva, and the women author Natasha Malachovska. The women writers featured in the first edition of the Almanac addressed not only questions about the social conditions prevailing in the USSR, but above all exposed the consequences for women living and functioning in a patriarchal social order, and ironically one where all the questions concerning ‘women’s rights’ were deemed to have been resolved in a progressive fashion much earlier. Not only is the substance of the Almanac important, but the circumstances surrounding its publication and the subsequent consequences related to its publishing also reveal the state of the ‘women’s movement’ in the USSR of that time. These include the reactions of the representatives of the dissident culture, the interventions of the security apparatus and the attendant repression of the women activists and its effect on their lives, and the support of feminist organizations from abroad. Each of the afore-mentioned reactions and consequences became an element of and shaped the everyday lives of the activists involved in the creation of the Almanac. The events related in this work confirm the opinion of those researchers who consider that the publication of the Almanac marked the beginning of the resurrection of the feminist movement in Russia.

Opis:
Mathieu Laensberg’s Prophecys in a nineteenth-century Bulgarian fragment (a sketch on fortune-telling books and prophetic literature in the Balkans)The article presents comments on and text edition of two folios of the so-called Bulgarian fragment of Mathieu Laensberg’s prophecy, written in the Bulgarian language of the first thirty years of the nineteenth century. The article does not focus on the prophet’s very speculative biography, neither on one of the Enlightenment’s most valued Almanacs, from Belgian Liege, which since its first appearance in 1636 was also associated with Laensberg. Rather, she aims at sketching preliminary observations about some typological features of the prognostic and prophetic literature, both western and eastern, emphasizing the analysed text and its comparison to the horoscopic portion in’s 1838 Perpetual Calendar by Teodor Pirdopski, who was best known as a gifted compiler of damascenes and miscellanies.

Opis:
A possibility of utilising the GPS system for navigation and transport are fundamentally dependent on the accuracy in positioning. Two fundamental factors decisive for its value are the values of the User Range Error (URE) and Dilution of Precision (DOP), strictly related to the number of satellites forming the constellation. The nominal constellation of GPS satellites consists of 24 units which gives a possibility of identification of coordinates all over the globe. In the last few years, however, the nominal number of satellites in the constellation was much higher, and the URE value has been constantly increasing. The authors of the paper try to estimate the impact of the changing number of GPS satellites on accuracy of position coordinates with a variable URE value. Mathematical model for estimating geometrical indicators’ value, utilizing data derived from the almanac files has been presented. Following a drawn-up algorithm and calculations made with Mathcad software, the authors carried out a comparative analysis of mean daily values of DOP indicators for a variable number of satellites included in the GPS constellation in the years 2001-2013. Then, the authors have established representative values of Two Distance Root Mean Square Error (2drms) 2D and 3D, and calculated a percentage increase of accuracy in the period under discussion.

Opis:
The article is an attempt to answer the question whether Lithuanian modernist literature of the first decade of the twentieth century falls within the category of national literature, and if so, what model of such defined literature it represents or shapes. In accordance with the assumption that this category takes on meaning only in the context of the place and time in which it is invoked, the understanding of the tasks of literature characteristic of Lithuanian modernists is reconstructed here in comparison with the concepts of literature dominating in the Lithuanian intellectual life of that period.  The search for an answer to this question is also a pretext for reflection on the role of modernism in the history of Lithuanian culture and the process of the formation of Lithuanian modernity. The subject of analysis in this search is the first Lithuanian literary almanac Gabija, published in Cracow in 1907, and above all the texts of its editor, bilingual writer Józef Albin Herbaczewski.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to show the evolution of the ideas of the French Enlightenment author, Sylvain Maréchal. In 1788, he writes an almost revolutionary work, The Honest Man’s Almanac, in which he breaks with the Christian axiology of time, and thus with the Gregorian calendar. He proposes a new system of measuring time, and replaces the names of saints and patrons of the Catholic Church with those of philosophers, artists, writers and politicians who deserve eternal memory of their posterity. In 1793, during the French Revolution, he creates another piece, The Calendar of Republicans. Retaining the main idea of his work of five years earlier, the author this time proposes a republican calendar, created under the influence of the revolutionary events in France. He fundamentally changes the list of the ‘new saints’, taking as his criterion their dedication and sometimes even the sacrifice of their lives to the idea of the republic in the history of humanity. He thus anticipates the cult of the ‘martyrs’ of the republican cause, which will develop in the revolutionary France in 1793.

The article features two Scandinavian calendar clogs from the Ethnographic Division of the National Museum in Poznań. Perpetual wooden calendars are known from several European countries, but only in Scandinavia were they made in large numbers. Two distinctly different types of calendar clogs are known: the simple ‘agricultural almanac’ type, characteristic of Norway, and a more sophisticatedcomputing variety (with golden numbers), found chiefly in Sweden. The Poznań clogs are described in detail and identified as Swedish runic staffs: one is heptagonal, dating from 1599 and made in the Linköping area; with the other being flat, sword-like, possibly equally old, originating from the district of Uppland.
