Opis:: This paper aims to profile Brazilian Information Science journals and compare their quality and impact indicators, be these traditional or altmetrics indicators. It is an exploratory and descriptive research, with quantitative analysis of 23 journals, analysed in accordance with their Qualis (2013-6) assessment, their h and g indices from Google Scholar Metrics and their altmetrics data from Facebook for the period 2011 to 2016. The Qualis assessment was obtained from the Sucupira Platform, the indices from Harzing’s Publish or Perish, and the altmetrics through the Facebook Application Programming Interface (API). The results show that the journals were created between 1972 and 2011, that they are edited by universities and that the most adopted frequency of publication is biannual (52%), followed by quarterly (39%). Regarding the national quality indicator Qualis, 73% of the journals fall within the higher stratum of B1 to A1. Regarding impact, 30.4% of the journals have an h-index greater than 10, and only 13% have a g-index greater than 20. Regarding their altmetrics, 34.7% have a Facebook altmetric value greater than 1,000 interactions. It can be concluded that the position of the journals vary if applied to the Qualis assessment system, the h and g indices and Facebook altmetrics. The journal that displays the greatest coincidence between the national index, and those of Google Scholar Metrics and the Facebook altmetrics was Encontros Bibli which is classed as Qualis A2, h-index 11 and g-index 17, and 2,261 interactions on Facebook.

Opis:: Altmetrics, as a new scientometric measure, shows the scholarly impact of a scientist and her/his social activity on social networking platforms. We analysed communication on ResearchGate within the group formed by Nicolaus Copernicus University different domains researchers. They share interest in information visualisation and form local collaboration team. We considered two compositions of research sample: the original team and the nearest collaborators. The common attributes of RG users such as coauthorship, skills set, topics, and ascribed domains were analysed. Based on these units, we carry out the sociographs to reveal social structure dynamics. Domain analysis was performed by the use of the PCA – the method which is able to extract the most essential factors from the variables set. The results indicate a good coincidence for these two approaches: collaboration between researchers and their skills development can significantly change their major. We strived to show that RG is a space of interdisciplinary training in building and identifying their own field research based on full text. Thus RG is a proper tool for crossdisciplinary qualitative analysis. Altmetrics and visualisation are mutually substituted and complemented devices, perceived as new tools for team science study. This requires, nevertheless, not only the use of appropriate tools, but also collecting a large dataset on global scientific activity within multidisciplinary groups.

Opis:: Cytowania przytaczane w literaturze światowej, a ostatnio statystyki wykorzystania materiału naukowego dostarczające informacji na temat zainteresowania i oddźwięku, jakie zdobywają publikacje naukowe, nadal pozostają ważnymi wskaźnikami wpływu w ocenie publikacji. Ukazują one bowiem widoczny wkład danej pracy naukowej w rozwój nauki i badań. Public Library of Science (PLOS), platforma projektu typu non profit oferująca dostęp do czasopism naukowych na zasadzie licencji wolnej dokumentacji oraz wydawca publikacji typu open access, była jednym z pierwszych tego typu projektów, w którym wprowadzono możliwość analizy innowacyjnych metryk, tzw. article-level metrics (ALM), tj. badania wpływu publikacji naukowych na poziomie artykułu, a nie czasopisma, z uwzględnieniem zmian, jakie zaszły w komunikacji naukowej wraz z rozwojem sieci. Badania uzupełniane są danymi kontekstowymi świadczącymi o zakresie społecznej uwagi poświęcanej danej pracy naukowej, uzyskiwanymi w czasie rzeczywistym z naukowych portali społecznościowych lub z alternatywnych metryk, takich jak blogi naukowe, zakładki, media społecznościowe.
Citation counts and more recently usage statistics provide valuable information about the attention and research impact associated with scholarly publications. The open access publisher Public Library of Science (PLOS), a nonprofit publisher and advocacy organization founded to accelerate progress in science and medicine by leading a transformation in research communication, has pioneered the concept of article-level metrics, where these metrics are collected on a per article and not a per journal basis and are complemented by real-time data from the social web or altmetrics: blog posts, social bookmarks, social media and other.

In addition to the existing, quantitative and qualitative methods of research and publications assessment, used in the print environment, the open environment of the modern Web gives in this respect a new opportunities. Reputation of all participants in scientific communication (scientific institutions, scientists, publishers, publications) can be determined on the basis of a large number of metrics, allowing for a multi-faceted evaluation of the impact of these actors in the research community. For this purpose, the science adapted the tools and services used inWeb2.0. The paper presents the possibilities of using services of Science2.0 for multifaceted evaluation of achievements of scientists and especially their publications.

Opis:: Wspieranie działań mających na celu promowanie idei otwartej nauki to dzisiaj jedno z ważnych zadań stojących przed bibliotekami. Pośród wielu aktywności z tym związanych jest zarządzanie danymi badawczymi na uczelniach. Wsparciem systemowym w ramach tego zadania ma być Repozytorium Otwartych Danych Badawczych Uczelni Krakowskich (RODBUK), które zostało uruchomione w marcu 2023 roku. Wśród obowiązków, jakie realizują bibliotekarze rozwijający RODBUK, jest uruchamianie narzędzi poprawiających widoczność oraz mierzących wykorzystanie i cytowanie deponowanych danych badawczych. Prezentowane badanie jest pierwszym w polskim piśmiennictwie projektem zakładającym pilotaż szerszych badań mających na celu zweryfikowanie używania wskaźników altmetrycznych w repozytoriach danych badawczych. Artykuł ma zasadniczo dwa cele: analizę repozytoriów danych badawczych pod kątem wykorzystania w nich wskaźników altmetrycznych oraz ocenę, czy w repozytoriach działających na systemie do zarządzania danymi badawczymi Dataverse są uruchamiane metryki altmetryczne. Do analizy wybrane zostały repozytoria zarejestrowane w Ranking Web of Repositories i repozytoria stosujące oprogramowanie Dataverse. Do przeglądu literatury przedmiotu i przygotowania artykułu użyto metody analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa. W gromadzeniu danych została użyta analiza dokumentów zastanych. Zastosowanie wymienionej metody badawczej pozwoliło przeanalizować i porównać ze sobą zebrane informacje. Wnioski, jakie nasuwają się po przeprowadzeniu badania, są następujące: wskaźniki altmetryczne są używane w repozytoriach danych badawczych, jednak w bardzo ograniczonym zakresie. Może być to spowodowane tym, że repozytoria danych są na etapie początkowego rozwoju i narzędzia te są obecnie mało popularne. Niemniej sama idea zliczania występowania wzmianek o danych badawczych w różnych serwisach i mediach społecznościowych, a nie tylko na portalach typowo naukowych, jest ciekawą alternatywą w analizowaniu zainteresowania danymi badawczymi i ich wykorzystania.
Support in activities that are aimed at promoting the idea of open science consti-tutes nowadays one of the essential assignments and tasks facing the academic library. The supporting activities at universities include identifying and implementing relevant research data management services. A systemic support framework for this particular assignment is provided by the Open Research Data Repository for Cracow-based Institutions of High-er Learning (Polish: RODBUK), initiated in March 2023. The number of responsibilities that are executed by the librarians engaged in the development of the RODBUK includes launching new tools that facilitate visibility and measure the use and citation numbers of the data deposited in the repository. The present study is the first project in the literature published in Poland that envisages an application test of broader studies (in a pilot run) that aim to verify the actual utilization of altmetric indicators in research data repositories. This article aims at two related objectives: an analysis of available research data re-positories in terms of the use of altmetric indicators, and the evaluation whether altmetric metrics are used in the repositories based on the Dataverse research data management system. The repositories indexed in the Ranking Web of Repositories and the repositories that use the Dataverse software were selected for the analysis. The review of the literature of the subject and the preparation of the article was based on the analysis and review lit-erature method. A desk research analysis was used to collect available data. The application of the above research method made it possible for the author to analyse and compare the collected information. The conclusions are the following: altmetric indicators are used in research reposito-ries, albeit on a very limited scale (and in a limited scope). This may have been effected by the fact that the existing data repositories are only at their initial stage of development and the available tools are still not widely used. However, the very idea of summing up the oc-currences of mentions on research data in a different number of services and social media, not only on portals that are oriented and geared towards specific research purposes, still presents an interesting alternative in the analysis of the interest and usage of research data.

Opis:: W artykule omówiono działania wpływające na zwiększenie widoczności naukowców w sieci: wybór prestiżowych źródeł do publikowania, praktyka otwartej nauki, współpraca naukowa wśród badaczy, obecność w społecznościowych serwisach skierowanych do ludzi nauki oraz śledzenie alternatywnych wskaźników metrycznych. Przedstawiono również przykłady dobrych praktyk stosowanych przez badaczy Politechniki Lubelskiej oraz ich współpracę z innymi pracownikami uczelni (bibliotekarzami, pełnomocnikiem do spraw otwartego dostępu) w tym zakresie.
The article discusses activities that enhance web visibility of scientists, such as: selecting prestigious sources for publishing, practice of open science, collaboration among researchers, presence on academic social networking sites and tracking of altmetrics. Examples of good practices applied by Lublin University of Technology researchers and their cooperation with other university employees (librarians, open access coordinator) in this area are also presented.
