Opis:
A new method for synthesis of cermet composite materials was developed based on aluminothermy. Employing this method a cermet composite material with a high content of AlN crystal phase was synthesized. Fine powders of aluminum and silica glass were mixed and heated in a corundum crucible for 6 hours at 1100°C in air. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the composite material thus synthesized contains a high concentration of AlN particles (about 33 vol. %) embedded in an aluminum silicon alloy. A small amount of Al2O3 particles (about 8 vol. %) was also found. The method proposed can also be used for synthesis of aluminum matrix composite materials containing, besides AlN, other ceramic reinforcement phases. The properties of these composite materials can be tailored by choosing an appropriate composition of the initial powder mixture for aluminothermic synthesis.

Opis:
Due to the high demand for secondary alloys in the automotive and aerospace industry, this work investigates the effect of higher iron content on the quality of AlSi7Mg0.6 sand castings. Secondary-recycled Al-Si alloys contain an increased amount of impurities due to their remelting of scrap metal. One of the most unwanted impurities found in these alloys is iron. Iron leads to the formation of various Fe-rich intermetallic phases, whose morphology influences the mechanical properties even at low Fe content. It also promotes the formation of casting defects, such as porosity and shrinkage. The formation of porosity in secondary Al-alloys is another major aspect that can affect the final properties of castings. Since these materials are mainly used to produce castings for the automotive industry, such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, and so on, it is necessary to produce castings without any defects. Therefore, the quality of AlSi7Mg0.6 sand casting is investigated at lower iron content (0.128% wt. Fe) and compared to the higher iron content (0.429% wt. Fe), whereby a correlation between iron content and porosity is monitored.

Opis:
Aluminum toxicity is the major growth-limiting factor for crop cultivation on acid soils. Tolerance mecha-nisms for Al stress in triticale have not been systematically investigated so far. It is presumed, that in the case of this species they may be a function of the interaction between wheat and rye genes. In this study the se-quences of forty-six Diversity Arrays Technology markers associated with aluminum tolerance in triticale and under selection pressure were blasted against BLAST database for the identification of possible functions of the respective genome regions in Al-stress response. The analysis has showed sequences similarity to the domains involved in signaling, disease response and DNA repair mechanisms.

Opis:
The internal damping of metallic materials varies with many different environmental effects. These are the frequency, amplitude of strain or stress, and temperature. In addition, internal damping is effected by corrosion fatigue, grain size, and porosity. The damping also depends on the number of fatigue cycles. There is a functional relationship among the damping, number of cycles and applied stress. In this study, these seven different environmental factors and their effects on the damping are analysed in the case of 6061 aluminium alloy. The relationships between the damping and every single effective factor are complex and vary depending on the aluminium type.
Tłumienie wewnętrzne w materiałach metalicznych zmienia się w zależności od wpływu wielu czynników środowiskowych. Czynnikami tymi mogą być częstość i amplituda przykładanego naprężenia i odkształcenia oraz temperatura. Ponadto na tłumienie wewnętrzne wpływa zmęczenie korozyjne, rozmiar ziarna i porowatość materiału. Tłumienie zależy również od liczby zrealizowanych cykli zmęczeniowych. Istnieje funkcyjna relacja pomiędzy wartością współczynnika tłumienia a liczbą cykli i stanem naprężenia. W pracy zaprezentowano siedem różnych czynników środowiskowych decydujących o poziomie tłumienia wewnętrznego na przykładzie stopu aluminium 6061. Zależności pomiędzy współczynnikiem tłumienia a każdym z tych czynników z osobna okazały się dość skomplikowane i wrażliwe na typ badanego aluminium.

Opis:
The paper covers the research on the process of solutionizing of 7075 aluminum alloy in cold tools during the stamping of a high-strength structural element (B-pillar’s base). For technological reasons, in order to obtain high strength parameters of the 7075 alloy, it is necessary to carry out a solutionization process, which allows to obtain dispersion strengthening during ageing process. Properly performed heat treatment of the alloy increases the strength of the material to approx. 600 MPa. The combination of the process of solutionization with simultaneous shaping is aimed at improving and simplifying technological operations of aluminum alloy stamping, shortening the duration of the manufacturing process and reducing production costs. The manufactured lower part of the B-pillar will be used for the verification of the validity of the developed method. During the experiment, a series of stamping tests were carried out, in which the lubricants, pressure and position of the upper and lower blankholders were the variables. The obtained results allow to estimate the influence of the cooling conditions on the strength of the drawpieces obtained after the process of artificial ageing. In order to verify and analyse the results more quickly, a numerical simulation was carried out.

Anticorrosive epoxy and polyurethane coatings were compounded using zinc-free nanosized phosphates of strontium (SP) or strontium and aluminum (SAP). For comparison, a nanosized calcium aluminum ammonium phosphate (CAP) and a microsized zinc phosphate (ZP) were tested. Results of salts spray and cyclic corrosion tests revealed better anticorrosive properties of the SAP-based coatings in relation to the samples with the other Zn-free fillers or ZP. Electrochemical noise tests of uncoated steel in aqueous suspensions of the phosphates exhibited similar corrosion inhibition efficiency of the Sr-based phosphates and ZP, and worse anticorrosive features of CAP. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy did not show better protective properties of ZP-based coatings than the samples with the Zn-free fillers.

Opis:
The main goal of the work is development of the multiscale numerical model of the incremental forming process for manufacturing integral elements applicable in the aerospace industry. Description of the proposed incremental forming concept based on division of large die into a series of small anvils pressed into the material by a moving roll is presented. A complex multi scale numerical model of mentioned incremental forging process based on the digital material representation (DMR) concept was developed and is also described within the paper. Finally, obtained results in the form of strain distribution are presented and compared with the outcome from conventional forging at the macro and micro scale, respectively.

Opis:
The leaching with acids is one of many methods used for recovery of valuable components from industrial wastes. The processing and neutralization of this type of waste is very difficult due to toxic properties. This work shows the results of aluminum leaching from industrial black dross with oxalic acid depending on temperature, acid concentration, effect of liquid to solid ratio (L/S) and time process. The oxalic acid has not been used so far for processing of aluminum black dross. The main purpose of this work was to determine the optimal conditions of this process. The results show that the maximum leaching efficiency of aluminum (75.2 %) was obtained with a liquid to solid ratio of 20:1 using 0.5 mol·dm-3 oxalic acid at 75 °C for 3 h.

Opis:
The article compares the use of sorption and sorption-coagulation methods for cleaning fresh and mineralized oil-containing waters. The sorbents used are thermally expanded graphite obtained by heat treatment of graphite bisulfate in a boiling layer, and activated carbon of BAU-A grade, which is widely used for purification of liquid media from oils and oil products. As an alternative to the sorption method, research was conducted on the application of the sorption-coagulation method with the simultaneous use of aluminum-containing coagulants: aluminum sulfate and aluminum hydroxochloride and activated carbon. It is shown that the advantages of using the sorption method using thermally expanded graphite are based on the high efficiency of oil extraction from water bodies and multiple regeneration of the spent sorbent.
