Opis:
Cultural heritage institutions (e.g. museums) expand the scope of information technology adaptation and make mobile applications available to the users. Up to date mobile devices (like smartphones or tablets) become fully functional devices for display and interaction with online museum information resources. This type of information dissemination can be exploited efficiently in shaping information literacies for young users for whom mobile device has become a major tool for communication, entertainment and knowledge acquisition. The paper presents the results of comparative analysis of mobile applications for museum information services in Poland. The study covered recent and most popular mobile application for online exhibitions and for accessing museum collections and it has been limited to mobile applications for Android operation system. The analysis was based on selected applications highly rated on Google Play Store and AppBrain.com. The popularity of mobile applications was established based on statistical data- rating score, user comments and the total number of downloads. The study indicates selected features such as mobile devices capacities, built-in mechanisms (gyroscope, GPS, camera), interactivity and multimedia features.

Opis:
In this paper, model reference output feedback tracking control of an aircraft subject to additive, uncertain, nonlinear disturbances is considered. In order to present the design steps in a clear fashion: first, the aircraft dynamics is temporarily assumed as known with all the states of the system available. Then a feedback linearizing controller minimizing a performance index while only requiring the output measurements of the system is proposed. As the aircraft dynamics is uncertain and only the output is available, the proposed controller makes use of a novel uncertainty estimator. The stability of the closed loop system and global asymptotic tracking of the proposed method are ensured via Lyapunov based arguments, asymptotic convergence of the controller to an optimal controller is also established. Numerical simulations are presented in order to demonstrate the feasibility and performance of the proposed control strategy.

Today, the number of cyclotrons operating in the world largely exceeds 200. The field of uses covers production of radioisotopes for medicine, therapy by neutron and ion beams, nuclear, atomic and solid state physics research, material analysis and radiation damage studies, and production of intense neutron beams for present and future purposes. Despite this diversity, continuing efforts driven by both research laboratories as well as commercial firms result in a series of improvements in the various techniques used in the design and operation of cyclotrons. This paper intends to draw the main directions of evolution in the following issues: injection and extraction systems, beam dynamics (including high intensity issues), magnetic and electric fields computation, as well as existing and possible future applications in medicine, production of energy, neutron spallation sources and transmutation technologies. The question of a possible resurrection of FFAG (Fixed-Field, Alternating Gradient) cyclotrons, a concept invented in the fifties, will be shortly brought up.

Opis:
The paper discusses the role of tests in creating the Digital Youth Health Platform. As a result of its crucial role in ensuring a user-friendly interface, special focus was placed on usability testing. The results of these tests provide important suggestions for improvements that can be made to increase the attractiveness and usability of the platform. The platform for which the tests were conducted is being developed as part of an international project implemented under the Erasmus+ program, in which Bialystok University of Technology is one of the participants. The platform is distinguished by an advanced interface in which artificial intelligence algorithms identify and personalize selected user features, and thus support the work of specialists.

The paper presents the theoretical and technological aspects of forming magnesium alloy parts for aircraft and automotive applications. The main applications of magnesium alloys in the aircraft and automotive industries are discussed. In addition, the forging technology for magnesium alloys is generally described, with a particular emphasis on wrought alloys. A brief outline of the state of the art in the forging of magnesium alloys is given based on a survey of the specialist literature and the results of previous research by the authors.

W pracy przedstawiono zagadnienie oceny wydajności aplikacji tworzonych w modelach natywnym oraz hybrydowym. Analizę porównawczą przeprowadzono przyjmując jako kryterium czas wykonywania funkcji natywnych, takich jak np. dostęp do sprzętu, dostęp do sieci, zapis i odczyt danych z wykorzystaniem mechanizmów specyficznych dla konkretnego systemu operacyjnego. Pomiary wykonano przygotowując dwie jednakowe pod względem funkcjonalnym aplikacje dla systemu operacyjnego Android, jedną w języku Java (metodologia natywna), drugą w języku JavaScript i HTML z wykorzystaniem mostu PhoneGap (metodologia hybrydowa), w których wywoływano określone funkcje natywne i mierzono czas ich zakończenia. Badania wykonano dla kilku wersji systemu operacyjnego Android w celu uzyskania szerszego poglądu na analizowane zagadnienie.
This paper presents the performance evaluation of the mobile native and hybrid applications. The comparison of application performance was carried out assuming a native function execution time (e.g. an access to the hardware, an access to the network, writing or reading files or contacts) as a main criteria. The measurements were conducted by preparing two functionally identical applications for Android OS, one written in Java language (native methodology) the other written in JavaScript and HTML languages with the aid of PhoneGap bridge (hybrid methodology), that were later used to call selected native functions and measure their execution time. The evaluation was performed for three versions of Android OS in order to have a broader perspective on the analysed issue.

Market still delivers too few applications that would assist people with disabilities in the hardships of daily commuting in the urban space. An additional challenge is also to find solutions in a range of existing applications. Existing solutions, in turn, are often still far from perfect, both in terms of available features and size possessing the database. The most common defects are: instability of offered applications, too small font that cannot be enlarged, the lack of both control and voice messages issued by applications, the inability of planning routes or track changes in real time (eg. traffic, weather conditions, technical difficulties, etc.), small number of users involved in creating applications, the lack of Polish language in the application, or even the availability of applications on particular platform on mobile devices. Because of the multitude of not-quite perfection of existing applications and the constantly growing demand for such services, the authors of this article conducted a preliminary analysis of mobile applications for people with disabilities of the locomotor system, in an attempt to define the basic requirements to create a certain standard. The article is also an introduction to the study of designing applications on the mobile for a provincial city in Poland.

Opis:
3D printing, 3D scanning and reverse engineering may constitute a significant breakthrough in research all over the world, especially within medical and military technologies. Particularly 3D printing seems to be a promising method to produce 3D objects manufactured layer-by-layer. The broader use of the above technologies may allow customization of various products and lower costs of design and production. At the same time progress in 3D printing technologies needs to be monitored and analyzed in order to deal with possible future threats. This article aims at investigating the extent to which the military and biomedical applications of 3D scanners and 3D printers are exploited, including in the framework of the authors’ own concepts, studies and observations.
