Opis:
Perversions of the archive In the article, the author discusses the problematic status of an archival document,taking into account the concepts of perverse historiography and the methodological indicators of the apartheid archive. Documents stored in IPN (Institute of National Remembrance) have been used to show the challenges faced by the people investigating the documents stored there and attempting to unify the material found in the archive. The analysis of Autor Solaris, a 2016 biographical documentary film about Stanisław Lem, is preceded by reflections on the involvement of the archive researchers in politics and their reproductions of clichés and stereotypes about the past, which the author sees as directly leading to blurring and erasing of the victims’ testimonies. In doing so, the author uses critical analyses of the pornographic aspects of the presentation of mass murder victims. Relating to a concept proposed by one of the critics indicating that using archival sources in modern art leads to a mass amnesia, the author points to the dangers of using Nazi propaganda films in contemporary documentary film.

Opis:
The paper focuses on the reception of Derrida’s Archive Fever among (new) media theorists and its relevance for the ongoing discussions in that academic field. Although this Derrida’s text is often described as the one in which he provides a statement on the pervasive revolutionary impact of new media, its reception among media theorists remains scarce. Several media scholars that tackle the text, however, have an ambivalent stance on it: they appreciate some of Derrida’s theses, but regard them largely obsolete. The first part of the paper analyzes these critiques and argues that many of the objections on Derrida’s behalf are caused by the misinterpretation of important features of the deconstructive thought. In its second part, the paper firstly deals with certain weaker points of Derrida’s reflection and then proceeds to examine his insights pertinent to the problems of contemporary media theory that were neglected in earlier reception. Finally, paper reaffirms the claim about the need for a more profound exchange between the deconstruction and media studies, albeit one that would avoid the examined shortcomings.

The archives of higher education institutions in Poland are a very important link in the national archive network. Their role arises from the tasks they perform in the creation of the national archive resource. These archives, in addition to serving their basic function, carry out additional tasks in the process of the collection and proper protection of historical resources. The purpose of this article is to present the role performed by the institution’s archive of the Maritime University of Szczecin. Among other things, this article discusses office and archival regulation, which is mandatory in the organizational unit and is characterized by the archive of MU.

Celem artykułu Spuścizny rodzinne i rodowe w zasobie Archiwum Państwowego w Warszawie jest prezentacja przykładowych opracowanych zbiorów archiwalnych znajdujących się w zasobie Archiwum Państwowego w Warszawie, zaklasyfikowanych w ewidencji archiwalnej jako „archiwa prywatne i spuścizny”. W treści tekstu autor porusza wiele kwestii związanych z wyjątkowym charakterem zawartości takich zbiorów archiwalnych oraz wyzwania związane z ich porządkowaniem zgodnie z obowiązującymi przepisami archiwalnymi. Do analizy wykorzystano trzy zbiory rodzinne: Archiwum rodziny Pawłowskich (zesp. 72/3843/0), Archiwum rodziny Krohów (zesp. 72/1285/0) i Archiwum rodziny Dmochowskich (zesp. 72/3876/0). W jej ramach zostały omówione historie rodów w świetle zewidencjonowanych akt i dokumentów pamiątkowych z wykorzystaniem dodatkowych opracowań źródłowych w roli kontekstów.
The purpose of the article “Family and Ancestral Heritage| in the Resources of the State Archive in Warsaw” is to present the examples of developed archival collections found in the resources of the State Archive in Warsaw, classified in the archival records as “private archives and heritage”. In the content of the text the author raises many issues related to the unique nature of the content of such archival collections and the challenges associated with their organization in accordance with applicable archival regulations. Three family collections were used for the analysis: the Pawłowski family a rchive (association 72/3843/0), the Kroha family archive (association 72/1285/0), and the Dmochowski family archive (association 72/3876/0). Family histories were discussed in the light of the recorded files and commemorative documents, using additional source studies as contexts as a part of that analysis.

The 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) archive is a good moment to reflect on its operation. Its annual reports enable us to recognize the scale and quality of the archive’s operation. Reports prepared between 2003 and 2015 for various purposes and authorities show how the archive has fulfilled its basic duties. The quality of UKSW’s archive is monitored by the State Archive in Warsaw. As a interfaculty unit of UKSW, the archive also comes under the authority of one of the University’s deputy vice-chancellors. The archive mainly reports to these principal bodies on an annual basis. The archive holds the records of the Warsaw Theological Academy which was later transformed into UKSW.

The article concerns the recently found private archive of Teresa Feodorowna Ries (1866-1956) who was a famous Viennese sculptor before the World War II. After the annexation to the German Reich in 1938, Ries, who was Jewish, remained in Vienna until probably 1942. Despite the imminent danger and difficult living conditions in Vienna, she tried to organise and regulate the preservation and whereabouts of her works. Her studio in the Gartenpalais Liechtenstein was evacuated and the works expropriated. The whereabouts of many of these works are still unclear, and many are considered lost. In 2018 this private archive was offered for sale in an auction house in Monaco. Since there was no interested party, the author of this article was lucky enough to acquire it about half a year later. The private archive contains letters, documents, photographs, a diary, poems, newspaper articles, lists of artworks, the last will and testament of her mother Bertha Ries and her own, handwritten by Ries. The term ‘archive’ includes different aspects which reflect in the work of Ries in both artistic and historical perspectives. The archive, the accumulation and the collection starting from the beginning, should be transferred into the here and now. The archive, as a place for the memory, for memories and records, returns to its starting point – Vienna. With all the collected documents and gathered information it is now possible to achieve an insight into the life of the artist Teresa Feodorowna Ries, and to continue the search for missing parts and links. The fact that today the original or complete form and condition of certain sculptures can only be seen in photographs is obviously a limiting factor when writing about the artist and her work, but also raises further interesting questions: how to write about something that does not exist any longer?

Następnie zamieszczone są teksty referatów prelegentów konferencji. Naczelny Dyrektor Archiwów Państwowych, Władysław Stępniak opisuje ideę narodowego zasobu archiwalnego, obecny stan prawny przepisów odnoszących się do zasobu niepaństwowego oraz kierunek zmian umożliwiający wspieranie archiwów społecznych. Joanna Newman, konsultantka ds. dokumentacji i archiwów z Nowej Zelandii wskazuje czynniki wzmacniające trwałość archiwów społecznych oraz działalność departamentu ds. archiwów społecznych funkcjonującego w ramach struktur archiwistyki państwowej. Julianne Nyhan, adiunkt na Wydziale Informatologii w University College London opisała sytuację archiwów społecznych w Wielkiej Brytanii, gdzie pojęcie AS jest dobrze zakorzenione, prowadzone są szerokie badania nad tą dziedziną oraz działa grupa rzecznicza archiwistyki społecznej. Stefano Vitali, szef Agencji Nadzoru Archiwów Regionu Emilia Romagna w Bolonii opisał działalność agencji odpowiedzialnych za kontakt z niepaństwowymi dysponentami i wytwórcami materiałów archiwalnych oraz sposoby wspierania niezależnych instytucji archiwalnych przez państwo. Cornelia Wenzel, kierowniczka archiwum w Fundacji Archiwum Niemieckiego Ruchu Kobiecego scharakteryzowała niemieckie tzw. "wolne archiwa", wywodzące się z ruchów protestu roku 1968 oraz działające sieci tych organizacji. Anna Kurpiel, koordynatorka projektów historyczno-edukacyjnych w Centrum Studiów Niemieckich i Europejskich im. Willy Brandta Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego w swoim tekście wpisuje archiwistykę społeczną w szerszy nurt tzw. historii publicznej, opisując, także w oparciu o własne prace etnograficzne, rolę tego nurtu i dyskusję nad nim w Polsce.
Publikacja została wydana w efekcie konferencji międzynarodowej „Archiwa społeczne. Modele współpracy z państwem”, która została zorganizowana przez Ośrodek KARTA 6 października 2014 roku w ramach projektu „Stabilizacja archiwistyki społecznej w Polsce”. Projekt „Stabilizacja archiwistyki społecznej w Polsce” realizowany jest w ramach programu Obywatele dla Demokracji, finansowanego z Funduszy EOG.
Konferencja pokazała, że nie ma jednego dobrego, sprawdzonego modelu współpracy między archiwami społecznymi a państwem, natomiast istnieje lub istniało wiele dobrych praktyk w zakresie polityki archiwów państwowych w stosunku do podmiotów tworzących niepaństwowy zasób archiwalny, programów dotacyjnych, samoorganizowania się czy sieciowania archiwów społecznych, które to mogą stanowić dla Polski punkt odniesienia. Publikacja ukazuje się w kluczowym dla polskiej archiwistyki społecznej momencie dzięki zmianom prawnym w ustawie archiwalnej oraz działaniom Ośrodka KARTA na rzecz stabilizacji sytuacji AS-ów. Konferencja i jej efekty przyczynią się do budowania polskiego modelu archiwistyki społecznej. Model ten, na co wskazuje Katarzyna Ziętal w tekście wstępnym, warto budować w oparciu o program rozwoju narodowego zasobu archiwalnego, którego elementem będzie dotacja dla archiwów organizacji pozarządowych oraz rejestr narodowego zasobu archiwalnego. Archiwa społeczne w postulowanym przez KARTĘ modelu, to organizacje niezależne, niewłączane w państwowe struktury instytucjonalne, korzystające ze wsparcia państwa, dzięki któremu profesjonalizują się i standaryzują swoje działania oraz podejmują działania sieciujące.
