Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań wydajności wybranych brokerów komunikatów: Apache ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ oraz Apache Kafka. Analizie został poddany czas przesłania wiadomości wyznaczony na podstawie czasu wysłania i odebrania komunikatu. Testy zostały przeprowadzone za pomocą autorskich aplikacji klienckich napisanych w języku Java. Badania uzupełniono opisem teoretycznym architektury każdego z narzędzi, w tym specyfikacji JMS i AMQP, oraz podstawowym opisem funkcjonalności brokerów.
Article presents results of performance analysis of selected message brokers: Apache ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ and Apache Kafka. To analyze has been subjected time of messaging determined based by time of sending and receiving message. Tests were carried out by authorial client application, written in Java language. The research was supplemented with a theoretical description of each tools architecture, including JMS and AMQP specifications and a basic description of brokers functionality.

For this reason I created an application showing in a straightforward way the concept of web applications founded on asynchronous communication. Creating applications that will immediately react to actions performed by users is the future of web applications. MEAN technology enables the creation of such applications providing web tools written in JavaScript: MongoDB, Express.js, AngularJS and Node.js.
Znajomość trendów w technologiach internetowych jest obecnie dla początkujących programistów znaczącym atutem na rynku pracy, dlatego stworzyłam aplikację, która w sposób przystępny przedstawia koncepcję aplikacji internetowych opartych na komunikacji asynchronicznej. Tworzenie aplikacji, które będą w czasie rzeczywistym reagować na działania użytkownika stanowi przyszłość aplikacji internetowych. Technologia MEAN umożliwia tworzenie takich aplikacji za pomocą narzędzi napisanych w języku JavaScript: MongoDB, Express.js, AngularJS oraz Node.js.

Opis:: The paper aims to present the potential, for foreign language students, of the exolingual interactions online in public and open forums. For the analysis of students’ commentaries, I apply the observation categories that were first elaborated for the analysis of posts published in press sites. I focus on narrative commentaries in which web users organize phenomena and events discussed in public discourse and try to give them their individual interpretation. I consider this kind of interaction on press sites as contributing to the civic debates: I argue that they can be also integrated in observation categories used to describe and analyze exchanges between students discussing social issues in reference to foreign language media information. In the paper I present two kinds of commentaries: those written by native speakers in public forums and those written by FL students in response to public commentaries.

Opis:: The paper presents some possibilities of using the observation technique in the virtual space of the Internet. It begins with some thoughts about the main changes of the Web and their consequences for its users as well as for the social researchers. Opis:: W tym artykule została przedstawiona analiza wydajności dwóch protokołów obsługiwanych przez systemy kolejkowe, tj. protokołu MQTT (ang. MQ Telemetry Transport) oraz AMQP (ang. Advanced Message Queuing Protocol). Analiza ta została przeprowadzona z użyciem dwóch brokerów wiadomości - ActiveMQ oraz RabbitMQ. Analizie został poddany czas przesłania wiadomości wyznaczony na podstawie czasu wysłania i odebrania komunikatu dla obu protokołów w obu przytoczonych systemach kolejkowych. Testy zostały przeprowadzone przy pomocy własnych aplikacji napisanych w języku Java oraz szkielecie aplikacji Spring.
This article presents an analysis of the performance of two protocols supported by queuing systems, i.e. MQTT and AMQP. This analysis was performed using two message brokers - ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ. The time of sending the message was analyzed, determined on the basis of the time of sending and receiving the message for both protocols in both of the above-mentioned queuing systems. The tests were carried out using proprietary applications written in Java and the Spring application framework.

Stosunki między Stanami Zjednoczonymi a Koreą Północną w dyskursie Donalda Trumpa na platformie Twitter

Opis:: Niniejsza praca magisterska dotyczy strategii dyskursywnych w postach Donalda Trumpa na Twitterze. Praca składa się z trzech części. W pierwszym rozdziale zdefiniowano Krytyczną Analizę Dyskursu oraz przedstawiono ją jako metodę analizy dyskursu politycznego. Wyjaśniono czym jest dyskurs polityczny i określono warunki, jakie muszą zostać spełnione, aby zaklasyfikować dany tekst jako należący do owego dyskursu. W tej części omówiono również strategie dyskursywne oraz zabiegi stylistyczne często stosowane przez polityków. Drugi rozdział dotyczy komunikacji zapośredniczonej komputerowo i zawiera omówienie komunikacji synchronicznej i asynchronicznej. Zaprezentowano w nim również informacje dotyczące serwisu społecznościowego Twitter, służącego jako platforma do mikroblogowania. W tej części pracy opisano również sposoby wykorzystania Internetu przez polityków, służące autopromocji oraz utrzymaniu stałego kontaktu z wyborcami i mające na celu dotarcie do możliwie największej grupy odbiorców. Trzeci, ostatni rozdział pracy zawiera analizę przykładowych tweetów Donalda Trumpa dotyczących Korei Północnej i Kim Jong Una, z uwzględnieniem ich funkcji, tj.: obelg, komplementów, gróźb, krytyki opozycji i mediów oraz autoprezentacji. Tweety porównano z wybranymi artykułami z popularnych mediów, w celu sprawdzenia, w jaki sposób te same fakty zostały przedstawione przez Prezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych, a w jaki sposób przez popularne strony internetowe traktowane jako rzetelne źródła informacji. Celem analizy było sprawdzenie, jakie strategie dyskursywne są wykorzystywane przez Donalda Trumpa w jego postach na Twitterze. Badanie wykazało, że jego język jest prosty i ograniczony, a głównymi strategiami, jakimi posługuje się prezydent są: wyolbrzymienia, określniki ilościowe (many, some, every) oraz przymiotniki (głównie negatywne) wskazujące na emocjonalny i wartościujący sposób wyrażania się.
The thesis addresses the discursive strategies in Donald Trump’s posts on Twitter. It consists of three chapters. The first chapter defines Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and presents it as an approach to studying political discourse. This part explains the notion of political discourse and lists the conditions that must be met for an utterance to be put in political frames. Common discursive strategies as well as rhetorical figures employed by politicians are discussed. The second chapter concerns Computer-Mediated Communication and its division into synchronous and asynchronous communication. This part of the thesis provides information about a microblogging and social networking service – Twitter. It describes how politicians use the Internet to promote themselves and to reach the largest possible audience. The third chapter offers an analysis of Donald Trump’s tweets relating to North Korea and Kim Jong Un. The posts are divided into several categories, i.e.: insults, compliments, threats, criticism of the opposition and media, Trump’s self-presentation and others. They are compared with selected articles from popular websites in order to show how the same facts are presented by the President of the U.S. and the media, the latter being perceived as a reliable source of information. The purpose of the analysis was to identify the discursive strategies used by Donald Trump on Twitter. The study showed that his language is simple and limited; the most common strategies employed by him include exaggerations, quantifiers (e.g. many, some, every) and adjectives (particularly with negative meaning) which indicate an emotional and evaluative way of expressing one’s thoughts.

Opis:: This study investigates the effect of a vlogging project on Malaysian ESL students’ speaking performance in a secondary school. Additionally, the students’ experience and perception of making and using vlogs in their language learning were also investigated. To this end, a mixed-methods approach was adopted and the data was collected from 73 participants. A quasi-experiment was conducted to determine the effect of the vlogging project while a questionnaire and a retrospective self-report were utilised to obtain the participants’ views pertaining to their experience in creating vlogs. The findings indicate statistically significant improvement in the ESL students’ speaking scores. Additionally, the participants viewed the vlogging project positively and perceived it as a student-friendly learning tool which can also promote self-evaluation and function as a source of motivation. Drawing on the findings, ESL teachers should consider the pedagogical benefits of vlogs and incorporate them as an instructional technique in the language classrooms. This study indicates that the use of vlogs warrants further research in order to inform the feasibility and pedagogical impact of using vlogs to enhance students’ speaking skills.

Artykuł przedstawia wybrane wnioski z przeprowadzonego badania w działaniu, którego celem było wyodrębnienie i opisanie skutecznych działań doboru oraz interpretacji francuskojęzycznych zasobów medialnych. Umiejętności te, właściwe dla kompetencji medialnej i niezbędne dla rozwijania autonomii uczeniowej, rozwijane były w zadaniach dyskusja online, zorientowanych zarówno na doskonalenie sprawności komunikacyjnych, jak i na realizację złożonych celów poznawczych, powiązanych z konstruowaniem wiedzy.
The present paper rests on the assumption that elaborating the determinants of media competence facilitate the conceptualization of the individual communicative competence development in accordance with formal requirements for teaching/learning at advanced L2 levels. The paper presents the chosen conclusions of my action-research project, whose major aim was to elaborate the determinants of constructive learning actions involving the selection and proper interpretation of media resources in French. These skills, inherent to media competence and necessary for the learner autonomy development, were trained in discussion tasks aimed at improving communicative skills and accomplishing cognitive goals connected with knowledge construction.

Opis:: Nowadays, when face-to-face human interactions are restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students have fewer opportunities to put their oral communicative abilities to the test. Under these circumstances, technology becomes an ally of both teachers and learners. While synchronous tools enable students to communicate with one another in real time, asynchronous tools allow them, among others, to record their utterances for review and self-evaluation. This paper aims to indicate which technological solutions could help teachers increase learners’ oral production in the ESP classroom (with particular emphasis on Medical and Business English) and which ones could help students improve their speaking skills independently.

Opis:: In the paper, taking into account the empirical research of different authors, the chosen pedagogical, sociological as well as psychological aspects of the on-line teaching and learning processes in the university education are presented. It has been shown that the use of on-line education causes a significant influence on the didactic process in contemporary university. The typical features of the asynchronous learning networks have been discussed in the framework of cognitive psychology, based on the constructivist theory of learning by Jerome Bruner, cognitive constructivist theory by Jean Piaget and the social constructivist theory by Lev Vygotsky. Special attention has been focused on chosen critical variables for successful on-line learning and such groups of problems as: networked collaborative classrooms, community-building paradigm and types of networked interactions. The functions fulfilled by teachers in the asynchronous learning: organizational, social and intellectual, and their competences, have been described.
