The article briefly discusses two extensive articles, the first by Stanisław Żmigrodzki in 1901 and the second by Gabriel Sokolnicki in 1902 in which they described the history of the development of electric cars, their various types (with electricity supply from overhead line or from a battery), their state of development at the time (with special emphasis on the electric motors used in cars, speed control, gears, steering wheels, brakes, descriptions of the most popular models), the economics of their application and future prospects.

Opis:: In the years 2016-2020, there has been a significant acceleration in the development of technologies for the hydrogen energy use and their popularization in practice. The value of the global hydrogen market in 2018 was estimated at US $122 billion, predicted that it will increase to US $155 billion by the 2022. The appropriate policy framework has a major impact on the development of new technologies, in particular during research, prototype implementations and the initial phase of their commercialization. Of course, this also fully applies to hydrogen technologies, which was confirmed, i.a., in its study by The Hydrogen Council, a leading global organization in this field. The spearheading countries intensively involved in the development and dissemination of hydrogen technologies are primarily: Japan, China, South Korea, Germany, France, Great Britain, Scandinavian and Benelux countries, as well as Canada and the USA. A dozen more countries making up the leading group, such as: Italy, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, India and South Africa are making efforts to join the global hydrogen race and complete the leading group. The scale of the global development of hydrogen technologies is illustrated by the fact that at the end of 2019, vehicles with hydrogen fuel cells and the publicly accessible hydrogen refuelling stations serving them already operated in 18 countries. An effective use of the incurred expenditures undoubtedly requires the interested states to formulate an appropriate policy (strategy) for the hydrogenation of the economy, including, in addition to precisely defined long-term objectives, e.g. elements of support from public administration, assurance of: stable investment conditions and the necessary regulatory conditions. The article attempts to synthetically present the political framework, i.e. the functioning plans and programs as well as national strategies for the development of hydrogen technology and economy in 19 countries.

Opis:: The article presents a cross-sectional view of the development of the HEV car market over the last two decades. Hybrid cars are currently the widest group of cars equipped with alternative to classic drive systems. They are also the most numerous group among electric vehicles. The historical meanders of HEV development were described, as well as the current level of development of this market and the real prospects for the popularization of HEV cars. The level of world production of this category of motor vehicles in the twenty-year period 2001-2020 was also characterized. The article attempts to estimate the real size of the world's HEV fleet. The level of sales of this category of vehicles by individual countries and their changing percentage share in the passenger car market were also presented. Sales of electric hybrids even in the crisis year 2020 increased from 3.2 million to approx. 4 million vehicles, despite a decrease in sales of new passenger cars from 64 to 54 million units. The above fact also proves the market attractiveness of this type of vehicles and the constantly growing interest in them.
W artykule przedstawiono przekrojowy obraz rozwoju rynku samochodów HEV na przestrzeni ostatnich dwóch dekad. Samochody hybrydowe to obecnie najszersza grupa samochodów wyposażonych w alternatywne dla klasycznych układów napędowych rozwiązania. Stanowią też najliczniejszą grupę wśród pojazdów elektrycznych. Opisano historyczne meandry rozwoju HEV, obecny poziom rozwoju tego rynku oraz realne perspektywy spopularyzowania samochodów HEV. Scharakteryzowano również poziom światowej produkcji tej kategorii pojazdów samochodowych w dwudziestoleciu 2001-2020. W artykule podjęto próbę oszacowania rzeczywistej wielkości światowej floty HEV. Przedstawiono również poziom sprzedaży tej kategorii pojazdów przez poszczególne kraje oraz zmieniający się ich udział procentowy w rynku samochodów osobowych. Sprzedaż hybryd elektrycznych nawet w kryzysowym roku 2020 wzrosła z 3,2 mln do ok. 4 mln pojazdów, pomimo spadku sprzedaży nowych aut osobowych z 64 do 54 mln sztuk. Powyższy fakt świadczy również o atrakcyjności rynkowej tego typu pojazdów i stale rosnącym zainteresowaniu nimi.

Training influence over competence development of employees in automotive industry

Opis:: This thesis is to analyse training effectiveness among automotive industry employees within the scope of their professional competence development, technical knowledge and other skills. Employee’s competence development has been analysed as a method of effective human resources management. It has been proved here, that development through training has significant influence over company’s performance. Training concept focuses on purpose and meaning of the training for development of an organisation. Process of training needs identification was described, as well as training methods and assessment of their effectiveness. Afterwards, I have introduced automotive industry, taking into consideration employment groups and potential training needs. By means of a questionnaire, influence of the training over competence development has been researched. The research is focused on automotive employees, working in sales and customer service areas. The summary presents evaluation, whether trainings have influence on competence development of automotive industry employees.
Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza efektywności szkoleń przeprowadzanych wśród pracowników branży motoryzacyjnej w zakresie rozwoju ich kompetencji zawodowych, wiedzy technicznej i innych umiejętności. Omówione zostało pojęcie kompetencji pracowniczych, jako element skutecznego zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi. Dzięki temu wykazano, że ich rozwój poprzez szkolenia, istotnie wpływa na sytuację przedsiębiorstwa. Zdefiniowano pojęcie szkolenia, określając przy tym cel i rolę szkoleń dla rozwoju organizacji. Następnie przedstawiono proces identyfikacji potrzeb szkoleniowych, scharakteryzowano metody szkoleniowe i omówiono sposób oceny ich efektywności. Przedstawiono charakterystykę branży motoryzacyjnej, z uwzględnieniem obszarów zatrudnienia i potencjalnych potrzeb szkoleniowych. Za pomocą kwestionariusza zbadano wpływ szkoleń na rozwój kompetencji pracowniczych. Obiektem badawczym w przedstawionej pracy są pracownicy branży motoryzacyjnej, pracujący w obszarze sprzedaży i obsługi klienta. Podsumowanie badań stanowi ocenę, czy szkolenia wpływają na rozwój kompetencji pracowników branży motoryzacyjnej.

Road safety is a complex research problem and, due to different causes and circumstances, an interdisciplinary issue. Its essence lies in the intensification of the automotive industry, which, apart from many benefits, is also a source of negative phenomena and dangerous threats. The most important consequences are road accidents, whose number, types and consequences for traffic participants depend on many different factors. This paper is devoted to the issues of safety and order in road traffic as well as road incidents and their consequences in Poland.

Opis:: The research aims to recognize the potential of adopting the model-based design methodology to the development process of an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) fuelling system. Changing regulations often force the modern development of internal combustion engines (Euro 7, CO2 reduction measures, etc.). With the definitive ban on new registrations of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines in Europe (planned for 2035), there is still ongoing development of the adaptation of the fuelling system to LPG. There is still market potential in adapting new internal combustion engines, usually equipped with direct injection systems, to reduce customers’ cost of ownership of a vehicle. As the engineering process should be accelerated in the face of the variety of direct injection systems offered by OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), the model-based design methodology is proposed to make the development more effective. The article presents the SWOT analysis of this approach in the engineering process and the potential of the method in an LPG system development is concluded.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono niektóre rodzaje samochodów osobowych eksploatowanych przez sektor cywilny, jak też przez sektor wojenny podczas II wojny światowej. Zasadniczym kryterium przyjętym w artykule było wykorzystanie gazu generatorowego jako paliwa do napędu tego typu pojazdów. Były one produkowane w różnych krajach, potrzebę tego typu konstrukcji i produkcji wymusił m.in. kryzys paliwowy, także brak benzyny, paliw płynnych które zużywano na potrzeby wojny. W skład artykułu wchodzą ryciny, schematy, które ilustrują graficznie przedstawione zagadnienie.
This article presents chosen types of passenger cars exploited by the civil sector, as well as by the war sector, during World War II. The basic criterion applied in the article was the usage of producer gas as fuel for driving this type of vehicles. These were produced in various countries and the need for this type of constructions and production was forced, inter alia, by the fuel crisis, as well as by the lack of fuel, liquid fuels, which were used for the needs of the war. The article includes figures and diagrams which graphically illustrate the presented topic.

Empiryczna część została napisana w oparciu o przykład Bielska-Białej. Celem pracy jest identyfikacja czynników decydujących o atrakcyjności tego miasta dla przemysłu samochodowego, a także określenie przeciwnej zależności - znaczenia tego przemysłu dla rozwoju gospodarczego Bielska-Białej. Można stwierdzić, że branża motoryzacyjna jest obecnie kluczową gałęzią lokalnego przemysłu i w dużej mierze przyczynia się do utrzymywania dobrej sytuacji gospodarczej miasta. Odpowiada nie tylko za duży napływ inwestycji zagranicznych i tworzenie setek miejsc pracy, ale także za kreowanie znacznego popytu na produkty i usługi lokalnych firm. Zastosowaną metodą badawczą były studia literaturowe oraz analiza danych statystycznych.
The paper presents the evolution of the global automotive industry and its impact on the economic development of regions, in which manufacturing facilities are located. The empirical part was written based on the example of Bielsko-Biała. The aim of this study is to identify the factors determining the attractiveness of the city for the automotive industry, as well as to determine the opposite relation - the importance of this industry to the economic development of Bielsko-Biała. It can be concluded that the automotive industry is now a key sector of the local industry and largely contributes to the maintenance of good economic situation of the city. It is not only responsible for the large inflow of foreign investment and the creation of hundreds of jobs, but also for creating significant demand for products and services of local businesses. Applied testing methods were literature studies and analysis of statistical data.

Opis:: A socially responsible company should take responsibility for its impact but also take care of the impact throughout its supply chain. Its perspective must be wider than only its own practices. Supplier development process can be used to spread socially and environmentally responsible practices across the supply chain. The aim of the paper is to identify and classify the socially responsible activities practised by the car producers and dedicated to their suppliers. In the paper sustainability reports of seven automakers were analysed. The authors used the technique of content analysis. The socially responsible practices dedicated to suppliers was classified into three dimensions and four categories. All of the automakers disclose information in their sustainability reports on socially responsible practices focused on their suppliers. However, the practices differ in terms of dimension and the area of CSR applied.

Opis:: This study concerned clusters as well as research and development affecting the competitive advantage of the Thai automotive industry’s mould and die sector. The study of development, examination of the consistency of the structural equation model, and the direct influence of linkage and association of cluster, as well as research and development for competitive advantage of operational locations in the Thai automotive mould & die sector was carried out as well. Data was collected from 320 mould and die industry operators in Thailand with the goal of obtaining key information to align the business direction in response to market opportunities. An additional goal was to elevate the competitiveness of the Thai automotive mould and die industry toward positive growth and continual sustainability.
