Waste is a serious threat to the environment and calling for waste management. This work focuses primarily on the characteristics of waste and the recycling of waste batteries and accumulators and their impact on the environment. An important aspect of limiting the negative impact of waste batteries and accumulators on the environment is their proper management, therefore the study focuses on the presentation of the system for the management of waste batteries and accumulators in Poland.

W ramach pracy przeprowadzono badania mające na celu porównanie żywotności dwóch akumulatorów rozruchowych o podobnych parametrach znamionowych. Jeden z akumulatorów był typowym akumulatorem kwasowo-ołowiowym (SLI), a drugi wykonanym w technologii AGM. W ramach badań przeprowadzono szereg prób ładowania i rozładowania. Po każdym cyklu kontrolowano parametry akumulatorów w celu oceny wpływu pracy cyklicznej na ich trwałość.
In the course of this study, research was conducted to compare the durability of two batteries with similar nominal parameters. One of the batteries was a typical lead-acid battery (SLI), while the other was a battery manufactured using AGM technology. During the research, a series of charge and discharge tests were conducted. After each cycle, the parameters of the tested batteries were monitored to assess the impact of cyclic operation on their durability.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the processes occurring during the refining of lead with aluminum, by analyzing and studying ternary Pb-(M)-Al systems, where M is one of the following metals: Sb, As, Se, Cu or Ni, which are the main contaminants of secondary lead from recycling waste lead-acid batteries. The Pb-Sb-Ca system, crucial for removing antimony while retaining tin, was also analyzed. The research included analysis of 2- and 3-component phase systems simulated, process kinetics under laboratory conditions for pure ternary systems, and chemical and phase composition analysis. Phase analysis showed the presence of permanent aluminum compounds such as AlSb, AlAs, Al2Se3,Al3Ni and phases with copper in the dross. In addition to the direct association of aluminum with a given contaminant, aluminum oxides such as Al0.5Sb0.5O2 and AlAsO4 as well as calcium oxide with antimony Ca4Sb2O7 were also found in the dross. On the basis of the tests carried out, 680 C was considered the optimal temperature for starting the refining process, with the amount of aluminum that was approx. The research provides new scientific data toward more efficient secondary lead refining technologies relevant to recycling waste lead-acid batteries and producing lead-tin alloys for the battery industry.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań mechanicznego przerobu odpadów akumulatorów Li-Ion i Ni-MH z telefonów komórkowych z otrzymaniem frakcji masy anodowo-katodowej do przerobu hydrometalurgicznego. Przedstawiono również wyniki przetopu masy anodowo-katodowej z otrzymaniem stopu Co-Ni i Ni-Co. Prace badawcze prowadzono w IMN Gliwice w ramach projektu kluczowego nr POIG.01.01.02-00-015/09-00 oraz pracy statutowej.
This paper results of mechanical processing of the scrapped Li-Ion and Ni-MH batteries from mobile phones, from which the anode-cathode mass was obtained for hydrometallurgical processing, have been presented. Besides, results from smelting the anode-cathode mass enabling production of the Co-Ni and Ni-Co alloys are given.

The paper presents fast method of identifying industrial and general use rechargeable batteries condition and defects exemplary lithium-ion cells. The proposed method is based on measuring a internal battery electrical impedance for selected frequency points and the next the results are compare with reference characteristics. Diagnostic process is performed for a few minutes when the battery is charging or discharging. So far used, the most popular methods require controlled charging and discharging cells to determine approximately of their capacity and need a long time of the diagnostic process (about few hours to over a dozen hours). The new method allows the dramatically reduction of measurement time and in effect reduces financial work costs of service. The paper shows a various setup systems with commonly use RLC impedance bridges were used in the research. The analysis of measurements allowed to determine the specific spectral function, which indicates rechargeable battery condition. Moreover, it is also possible to apply the obtain method to another electrochemical cell type.

Establishing green and reliable energy resources is very important to counteract the carbon footprints and negative impact of non-renewable energy resources. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous material finding numerous applications due to their exceptional qualities, such as high surface area, low density, superior structural flexibility, and stability. Recently, increased attention has been paid to surface mounted MOFs (SURMOFs), which is nothing but thin film of MOF, as a new category in nanotechnology having unique properties compared to bulk MOFs. With the advancement of material growth and synthesis technologies, the fine tunability of film thickness, consistency, size, and geometry with a wide range of MOF complexes is possible. In this review, we recapitulate various synthesis approaches of SURMOFs including epitaxial synthesis approach, direct solvothermal method, Langmuir-Blodgett LBL deposition, Inkjet printing technique and others and then correlated the synthesis-structure-property relationship in terms of energy storage and conversion applications. Further the critical assessment and current problems of SURMOFs have been briefly discussed to explore the future opportunities in SURMOFs for energy storage and conversion applications.

To assess the impact of not just the battery as such but its multi-element composition on the state of the environment, a new approach is proposed through the determination of the reliability of ecosystems, which makes it possible to obtain quantitative indexes of the stability and losses of natural ecosystems. These data can be used as indicators of the state of the environment, and hence as the assessment of an environmental component that is important for determining the actual impact of the multi-element composition of batteries. On the basis of such indicators, which can be obtained using the SimaPro software, it is possible to calculate thresholds beyond which negative phenomena occur, as well as to predict and simulate situations, to carry out the mapping of sources of risks, to monitor changes, and this will allow identifying the causes of these changes or determining the factors that slow down or retard the approach of ecosystems to a critical state, i.e. to develop preventive measures to avoid disasters. The eco-indicator 99 is one of the methods that allows us to accept one estimate for the whole product - the so-called ecological index. It is the sum of all individual eco-points or partial indexes for all life-cycle processes. The computational procedure is carried out by summing up the results of weighing the phases of the life cycle.

Opis:
The paper considered the theoretical information of generators for several power sources, schematic theirsolutions, and the main disadvantages and advantages. A generator for 4 batteries based on field-effect transistors with optical galvanic isolation and a clock generator built on the basisof the Atmega328 microcontroller, which is part of the Arduino Uno device, was studied. The result of the study was the confirmation of the existenceof the "Tesla-switch"effect. A program code was developed for the alternate switching of six transistor switches of the optical decoupling. The structural diagram of the device was studied, and the influence of the generator frequency and the consumed power of the load on the output parameters of the device were determined. The considered idea of energy saving and environmental friendliness of power supply systems is relevant, in particular in casesof blackouts.
W artykule rozważono informacje teoretyczne dotyczące generatorów dla kilku źródeł zasilania, schematy ich rozwiązań oraz główne wadyi zalety. Zbadano generator dla 4 baterii oparty na tranzystorach polowychz optyczną izolacjągalwaniczną oraz generator zegara zbudowany na bazie mikrokontrolera Atmega328, który jest częścią urządzenia Arduino Uno. Wynikiem badań było potwierdzenie istnienia efektu "Tesla-switch". Opracowano kod programu do naprzemiennego przełączania sześciu przełączników tranzystorowych odsprzęgacza optycznego. Zbadano schemat strukturalny urządzenia oraz określono wpływ częstotliwości generatora i mocy pobieranej przez obciążenie na parametry wyjściowe urządzenia. Rozważana idea oszczędzania energii i przyjazności dla środowiska systemów zasilania jest istotna, w szczególności w przypadku awarii zasilania.

In 2009 the transport company of city Gdynia (Poland) introduced in the operation trolleybuses fitted with traction batteries. This solution was designed for emergency situations, such as: damage of overhead lines or power loss. Transport company also considering the use of batteries in regular use. The article presents the operational experiences gained during the current operation. Furthermore, there are presented new trends in traction batteries technologies
