Opis:
W trakcie manewru dobijania statku do nabrzeża może nastąpić uderzenie i w rezultacie wydzielenie energii w systemie statek - urządzenie odbojowe - nabrzeże. Przekroczenie dopuszczalnej wartości energii prowadzi do uszkodzenia jednego z tych elementów i w rezultacie do wypadku. Podczas manewru część energii kinetycznej statku ulega zamianie na pracę obrotu statku względem punktu kontaktu z nabrzeżem. W artykule przeprowadzono analizę efektywnej energii cumowania pochłanianej przez urządzenie odbojowe w aspekcie straty części energii statku podczas obrotu. Przedstawiono zależność promienia obrotu statku od krzywizny kadłuba.
During the manoeuvre of the ship's berthing at the quay an impact may occur and the resulting emission of energy in the system vessel - fender device - quay. Exceeding the permissible energy value causes damage to one of these elements and results in an accident. During the manoeuvre part of the vessel's kinetic energy is converted into the vessel's turning in relation to the contact point with the quay. The article analyses the effective mooring energy absorbed by the fender device in the aspect of loss of part of the vessel's energy during turning. The relationship between the vessel's turning radius and the hull curve has been presented.

Opis:
In this paper, consistently trained Artificial Neural Network controller for automatic ship berthing is discussed. Minimum time course changing manoeuvre is utilised to ensure such consistency and a new concept named ‘virtual window’ is introduced. Such consistent teaching data are then used to train two separate multi-layered feed forward neural networks for command rudder and propeller revolution output. After proper training, several known and unknown conditions are tested to judge the effectiveness of the proposed controller using Monte Carlo simulations. After getting acceptable percentages of success, the trained networks are implemented for the free running experiment system to judge the network’s real time response for Esso Osaka 3-m model ship. The network’s behaviour during such experiments is also investigated for possible effect of initial conditions as well as wind disturbances. Moreover, since the final goal point of the proposed controller is set at some distance from the actual pier to ensure safety, therefore a study on automatic tug assistance is also discussed for the final alignment of the ship with actual pier.

The ship’s pilot can obtain the ship auxiliary information through the navigation system, when berthing system can display the parameters such as traverse speed and distance of the ship. But most of the system data show that there are insufficient precision. Taking the CORS system to obtain the location information, data Calculation of Berthing System based on Polar Coordinate Algorithm, this paper puts forward a solution to the “dead point” of the berthing and aiding system, which has a certain reference value for the design of the ship berthing assistance system.

Opis:
The berthing of ship to the quay is last stage of navigation process. An ideal manoeuvre would be consisted in a total loss of speed at the moment the ship makes contact with the quay. In practice, the ship has some speed, which caused the impact of ship in the quay. The accident can be happened when kinetic energy overdone the admissible value during contact the ship-quay. In results, the damage of ship's hull or port structure can occur. The fenders improve the safety of berthing operations by partially absorbing the kinetic energy of ship. The fenders parameters should be properly selected relative to existing condition during ship's berthing. It depends on effective energy of berthing ship. There are used some method to calculate of its value. One of them is based on phenomena of ship turning relative to point of first contact to the quay. Then the part of ship's kinetic energy is altered to work of turn, and in result, energy of ship impact is decreased. This part can be determined by coefficient of eccentricy. Its value mainly depends on radius of ship's turning, which is equal of distance between point of ship, gravity and point of first contact with quay. Simplified method of calculation the eccentricy coefficient based on ships angle of approaching to the quay. But such estimated value is weighted some discrepancy. The paper presents the analysis of methods of calculation the kinetic energy during first impact in the quay. Especially, the geometrical shape of ship's hull is considered to achieve the accuracy value of ship's impact energy during the berthing to the quay. The application of elaborated method permits to optimize the parameters of fender system.

Opis:
Almost every voyage culminates in a manoeuvre to berth the ship safely along a quay or wharf. During this phase a ship is affected by a number of factors, one of them being wind. This paper seeks to understand how wind affect a ship in regards of power consumption during berthing. A field study was conducted on a car passenger ferry, where every approach in one harbour was logged and analysed over a period of four months. The goal was to provide greater knowledge about energy usage and the study presents several interesting findings. It is estimated that power consumption is stable when the median wind speed is less than 4 m/s. Stronger winds have a significant effect on power consumption, e.g 17 m/s gives an 106,31% increase from calm conditions. Furthermore there is not discovered any correlation between consumption and wind direction in this study.

Opis:
This paper presents a novel step forward in finding the loads of particular mooring ropes that balance the steady environmental excitations for a ship staying at berth. The industrial static equilibrium method for a rough assessment of ship mooring safety is considered to be well-established. The static loads are directly related to the rope’s MBLs (minimum breaking loads) while applying a certain safety margin (usually 50%). The problem is reduced to a set of linear equations that may be solved analytically. The generality in terms of arbitrary horizontal and vertical angles of mooring ropes is preserved. All derivations are provided to enhance trust in the very simple yet absolutely accurate and fast linear solution. The accuracy is studied both analytically, throughout all the development stages, and finally by comparison to the exact numerical solution of the original nonlinear equilibrium equations for an exemplary mooring pattern. A discussion of selected effects in load distribution is also given. Using the approach presented, for instance, we can efficiently test mooring safety when any mooring rope of the set is accidentally broken.

Opis:
The berthing of ship to the quay is the last stage of navigation process in marine shipping. During the ships berthing the impact in berth can occur and in result the appearing of energy in ship - fender device - berth system. The exceeding of admissible value of this energy leads to damage of one of these elements and in effect causes the accident. The accident can happen as unwanted event connected with negative consequences (damage of ship and port structure). It can be connected with ship's strike in quay. The fenders are devices to protect the port structures and ships bulk while berthing to the quay. Design and choice of fender system should contain selection suitable devices answering of existing or planning construction of structure, which select system should be protected. The buckling type of fenders (arch, conical shape) are the newest generation combining excellent absorbing energy with reaction forces of ship berthing. The paper presents the study of fenders designing based on analytical, experimental and numerical considerations. The paper presents an example of fenders designing. The buckling type of fenders achieved by carrying out of laboratory research was made. The Portowców Quay in Port of Świnoujście real research of ships berthing was carried out.

Opis:
This paper simulated a simultaneous un-berthing of two container ships. The simulation was intended to determine the number and capacity of tugboats considering an emergency situation in a port. A port provides the number and capacity of tugboats based on the regulation of the Transportation Ministry. In an emergency condition at the terminal and the maximum environmental conditions of wind, wave, and current, the vessel should be un-berthed simultaneously. In this study, two container ships are un-berthed simultaneously in eight scenarios. The available tugboats are simulated using the MMG model to pull the vessels from the jetty turn them in the approaching channel and pass the main channel to achieve the anchorage area. The trajectories of maneuvering using the existing tugs are compared to the normal passage using the appropriate capacity of tugboats. The number and capacity of the tugboat to comply with the safety criteria and avoid collision between the un-berthed ships is proposed.
