Opis:: Podwaliny [Foundations], the poem written by Leopold Staff right after the war and carrying traces of a profound trauma, takes advantage of the motifs drawn from the biblical parable of good and bad construction practices (Gospel According to St Matthew, 7:24–27). In her interpretation of the poem, the author analyses the way(s) in which the biblical paradigm has been transformed, and the consequences of this procedure. Use is made of the opinions of the scholars who have reconstructed the primary function of parabolic stories, having identified in them the original forms of thinking which preceded the evolvement of abstract concepts encoding qualities.

Opis:: Forma Uczty Babette, tajemniczość i odniesienia do rzeczywistości religijnej sprawiają, że film Axela jest rodzajem przypowieści skomponowanej na wzór przypowieści biblijnej. Jego celem jest ukazanie nadprzyrodzonej mocy sztuki, ofiary i daru, które w całej różnorodności swoich znaczeń zawierają się i kumulują w najbardziej niezwykłej uczcie, jaką kiedykolwiek sportretowano na srebrnym ekranie. Uczta przygotowana przez Babette reprezentuje zderzenie dwóch odmiennych kultur – ascetycznej i religijnej kultury duńskiej społeczności wiejskiej oraz różnorodnej kultury przedmiotów, zmysłów i znaczeń reprezentowanych przez francuską sztukę kulinarną. Członkom kongregacji obce są nieznane potrawy, ich różnorodność, a także sama tradycja biesiadowania, kojarzona ze złem i szatanem. Problem wynikający ze spotkania z obcą kuchnią zmienia się w religijny, a konflikt ze sfery estetyki przenosi się na etykę. Siłą autonomii filmu Axel każe nam postrzegać Babette jako artystkę, a jej ucztę jako dzieło sztuki. Sztuka może zbliżyć nas do Boga, a uczta traktowana jako dzieło sztuki była wyłomem w konkretnej rzeczywistości i pozwalała wznieść się ponad nią; poprzez piękno, harmonię i niezwykłe doznania uwznioślała uczestników uczty i zbliżała ich do świętości. Artysta doświadczał spełnienia, to, co duchowe, łączyło się z tym, co zmysłowe, ziemia wznosiła się do nieba, a losy bohaterów dopełniały się.
The form of Babette’s Feast, mystery and references to the religious reality cause that Axel’s movie is a kind of parable composed in the fashion of a Biblical parable. It is designed to reveal the mystery of the supernatural power of art, sacrifice and gift, which in a whole variety of its meaning, are included and accumulate in the most unusual feast ever portrayed on the silver screen. The feast prepared by Babette represents a clash of two distinct cultures – the ascetic and religious culture of a Danish village community and the diverse culture of objects, senses and meanings represented by France’s culinary art. The congregation members find the unknown foods, their diversity, the very tradition of feasting strange; these are associated with evil and Satan. The problem arising from an encounter with the strange cuisine is turned into a religious one, and the conflict is shifted from the sphere of aesthetics into ethics. By strength of the film’s autonomy, we are told by Axel’s movie to regard Babette as an artist and her feast as a work of art. Art can take us closer to God, and the feast, treated as a work of art, was a breach in concrete reality and made it possible to rise above reality; through beauty, harmony and unusual sensations it elevated the feast participants and brought them nearer to sacredness. The artist experiences fulfilment, what is spiritual unites with what is sensual, the earth ascends to heaven and the heroes’ fates are accomplished.

Opis:: Jednym z aspektów, którymi zajmuje się hermeneutyka biblijna, jest kwestia gatunków literackich obecnych w Piśmie Świętym. Do charakterystycznych gatunków literatury biblijnej należy z całą pewnością przypowieść. Z przypowieścią najczęściej spotykamy się w Ewangeliach. Przypowieści nie były jednak „wynalazkiem” Jezusa. Gatunek ten rozwijał się już na długo przed Jego narodzeniem. Niniejsze opracowanie podejmuje właśnie problem genezy i kształtowania się przypowieści nowotestamentowej – od literatury greckiej i rzymskiej, przez literaturę starotestamentową po rabinacką.
