Współczesne układy hamulcowe w motocyklach sportowych są konstrukcjami dwuobwodowymi co oznacza, że możemy dowolnie regulować siłę hamowania koła przedniego oraz tylnego. W motocyklach sportowych nie stosuje się rozwiązań typu kombi. W obecnym czasie mamy do czynienia ze stosowaniem coraz większej liczby systemów elektronicznych wspomagania układu jezdnego motocykli. Wyposażanie motocykli w elektroniczny system ABS staje się standardem w ruchu ulicznym. Prawidłowa ocena sytuacji na drodze przez kierującego może niekiedy nie wystarczyć i występuje potrzeba hamowania awaryjnego. Odpowiednie umiejętności kierowcy oraz niezbędna wiedza pozwalają na uniknięcie niebezpiecznych sytuacji. Celem artykułu jest analiza opóźnienia hamowania występującego w trakcie procesu hamowania sportowych motocykli.
Modern brake systems in sports motorcycles are dual circuit structures, which means that can freely adjust the braking force of the front wheel and the rear. In sports motorcycles are not used combi type solutions. At the present time we are dealing with the use of an increasing number of electronic systems supporting running gear of motorcycles. Equipping motorcycles with electronic ABS system is becoming the standard in road traffic. Proper assessment of the situation on the road by the driver may sometimes not be enough, and there is a need for emergency braking. Suitable driving skills and essential knowledge, allow avoiding dangerous situations. The aim of the article is to analyse the braking deceleration occurring during the braking process of sports motorcycles.

Opis:
The paper describes systems responsible for driving safety of vehicles weighing up to 3.5 t. It is focused on selected failures (fouling) of braking systems that are typical during motor cars operation. Simulation testing regarding effect of selected failures (fouling) of braking system elements on braking force and braking efficiency were performed. In order to perform such testing, author of the paper worked out the methodology of testing which is also described here. The test results (partial) are displayed as tables and charts. The negative effect of selected failures on braking force and braking efficiency index is influencing directly on motor cars driving safety. It is also emphasized that it is important to maintain and observe automotive manufacturers’ technical requirements regarding braking system elements such as tyre pressure, tyre tread condition, brake shoes wear, etc. Basing on the test results it is found that excessive wear of tyres and brake shoes wear could be the reason of significant WSH index decrease resulting in faulty car. This can be visible through lower than allowable level of braking efficiency index WSH, which is the basic legal diagnostic parameter of break system condition assessment. Replacing such elements significantly improves braking efficiency index WSH.

Opis:
Regenerative braking is a technique that employs electric motors to convert the dynamic mechanical energy from the motor’s spinning rotor and any attached loads into electricity. However, such a type of regenerative braking can only slow but not stop the vehicle because there is too little energy to excite the motor acting as a generator at low speeds. Therefore, this paper presents a unique flywheel-based regenerative braking system for railway vehicles. This system is supposed to meet high safety and comfort expectations in all operating conditions. The braking action control of this system should allow braking of empty or loaded vehicles according to load, the anti-blockage braking action of wheels and prevent wheel-slide during braking or wheel slip during acceleration. The new regenerative braking system under development, like any kinetic energy recovery system, requires the application of continuously variable transmission. The essence of the new solution is to design and build this type of variable transmission using only one planetary gear controlled through the powertrain control module for an electric motor cooperating concurrently. This paper describes complete modelling and simulation realisation on a closed-loop servomotor drive, which cooperates with the variable transmission of the regenerative braking system based on the Scilab/Xcos environment.

Opis:
The study involved performing a numerical thermal analysis of selected components in a car braking system. The primary goal of the study was to determine the regions which are most susceptible to variations in temperature, and to determine the degree of thermal impact upon them. The analysis was performed using the Abaqus environment. The examined components of the braking system were made of materials reflecting mechanical properties of the real subassemblies. The FEM analysis enabled determination of the distribution of temperature in the system with respect to the properties of the investigated materials and applied boundary conditions.

The reliability of monorail crane braking system has an important influence on thebraking safety. The high speed and heavy load operation poses a great challenge to the braking safety,and it is necessary to evaluate its braking reliability accurately and efficiently. Firstly, the dynamic performance and thermal-mechanical coupling characteristics of high-speed and heavy-loadmonorail crane under different braking parameters were analyzed. Secondly, the random response model of braking distance and braking temperature was established by combining the design of experiment method (DoE) and Dendrite Net (DD). Finally, the high-order momentsaddlepoint approximation (SPA) method was used to evaluate the emergency braking reliability of the monorail crane. Theresultscan provide a reference for the selection of key parameters and the evaluation of braking safety of the monorail crane braking system under high-speed and heavy-load conditions.

Opis:
Widespread usage of emission free public transport is the preferred strategy in many cities to reduce a congestion and pollution from the road traffic. The trolleybus is a kind of urban public transport, i.e. a fully electric vehicle, which is considered as a promising tool to enhance the efficiency of public transport and to attain the goals of sustainable development and quality of city life. The operation control of service brake system and secondary brake system (the braking torque of traction electric motor) is realized with help of one pedal in the trolleybus. Thus, there are modes of the joint operation for these systems during the braking process. Authors focus on the development of rule-based algorithm for the blending control of traction electric motor and anti-lock braking system to enhance the overall braking efficiency of a vehicle. The mathematical model of the trolleybus braking dynamics was developed for this purpose. Test bench and ride tests on different road surfaces were carried out to determine the parameters of vehicle braking efficiency and to validate the developed mathematical model. The corresponding experimental data were used to analyse the efficiency of proposed rule-based strategy for the blending control of traction electric motor and anti-lock braking system of the trolleybus. As a result, the availability of proposed control algorithm is confirmed, which secures the required braking efficiency and provides a high braking stability of the vehicle.

The road safety depends on many factors, including the efficiency of the technical system and the disposal of the driver of the vehicle. As wear of most of the vehicle assemblies threatened only with a breakdown, excessive wear of the braking system components may pose a risk of a traffic accident. The article presents a study on the quality of the brake fluid conductivity as a function of temperature and water content conducted for a selected group of vehicles. This group of vehicles was characterized by different production date and had a different of vehicle mileage. We presented the methodology of statistical analysis of the quality of brake fluid tests in selected 38 passenger vehicles in operation.

Heavy agricultural trailers can be equipped with a three-axle chassis with a tandem axle set at the rear and one mounted on a turntable at the front. In such trailers, selection of the distribution of braking forces that meet the requirements of the EU Directive 2015/68, with regard to braking, largely depends on the type of tandem suspension used. The requirements for brake force distribution in agricultural trailers of categories R3 and R4 are described. On this basis, a methodology for calculating the optimal linear distribution of braking forces, characteristic of agricultural trailers with air braking systems, was developed. An analysis of the forces acting on a 24-tonne three-axle trailer during braking was performed for five different suspensions of the rear tandem axle. An optimization algo-rithm using the quasi Monte Carlo method was described, on the basis of which a computer program for selection of the linear distribution of braking forces was developed. The calculations were made for an empty and loaded trailer with and without the weight of the tandem suspension. The most uniform distribution of braking forces was obtained for two leaf spring with dynamic equalization and air suspension, in which the ratio of the braking force of the tandem axle and the total braking force varied between 22.9% and 25.5% for the different calculation variants. A large variation in the braking force distribution was achieved for the two leaf spring suspension, in which the ratio of tandem axle braking force and the total braking force ranged from 2.7% to 6.4% for the leading axle and from 27.8% to 36.2% for the trailing axle. The presented calculation methodology can be used in the initial phase of the design of air braking systems for three-axle agricultural trailers.

The design dimensions of the executive hydraulic cylinders of the brake system of heavy-duty mining dump trucks cause high fluid flow during the braking process. Therefore, dimensions of the anti-blocking system modulator spool pair require unique electromagnets or hydraulic amplifiers to control. These solutions do not allow the required modulator performance. Thus, a modulator scheme with a division of the flow of fluid from the source to the brake cylinders was developed. This scheme allows during emergency braking passing, an additional amount of fluid to cylinders through the valve, installed parallel to the main valve upon pressure increase phase and controlled by the pressure difference. The task is to develop a method for calculating the main structural dimensions of a modulator. The calculation of the valve of the second cascade, installed in parallel to the main stage, is carried out for the emergency braking mode with the maximum flow rate to ensure the required performance of the braking system. The balance of fluid flows equations is compiled at the key points. The flow rate of the fluid through each of the valves is determined by the Torricelli formula, and the pressure difference across the valves is assuned equal. The obtained relations allows building a family of Q-p curves, which can be used to select the diameter and stroke of the additional valve depending on the flow rate in the brake system.
