Opis:
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is currently one of the fastest developing building design methods. Creation of a building using this technology involves the whole investment process, from the concept, through the design and evaluation process, to the execution and delivery of the building into operation. The main premise of the BIM technology is to design an object in 3D and then on the basis of a three–dimensional model created–generation of all design documentation. In this monograph, the authors concluded a comprehensive review of the literature on the use of the BIM technology in construction industry. The basic assumptions and concepts related to the BIM are explained in the introduction. The design methodology was discussed, starting with the rules for creating objects in the BIM environment, the classification rules for these objects, and the tools that are used in a 3D design. The characteristics of the BIM environment, the topic of a model’s parameters management, and the subject of a drawing documentation were discussed. The systems of cooperation of the BIM programs with a family of CAD programs, or programs used to carry out calculations of the structural load bearing capacity of a building were described. It was discussed how each participant in the investment process can make use of BIM technology for its needs and what benefits it brings. The study part ends with a case study, in which examples of building investments using BIM technology were given. The second part of the work is a description of the practical application of BIM technology–the designer’s workshop, using Tekla Structures software. The authors at the outset discuss the program environment, demonstrate how to build grids and analyze graphical interface. It was showed how to create steel elements with connections in nodes, concrete and reinforced concrete elements. Issues related to the model control, drawing and executive documentation were discussed. The monograph is ended with presentation of the Tekla BIMSight software as a universal environment for inter–model viewing and the clashes detection.

Opis:
Every translation is a second-order discourse, based on a first-order discourse, whose form is the result of negotiation between the discursive polysystems of the source and target cultures. Its dual role, representing the source-language discourse in the target culture as well as meeting the intended expectations of the target text receiver, inevitably entails the intervention of the translator as a second-order communicating subject, as will be illustrated using a French translation of a building design.

Opis:
This paper is an attempt to describe a building design as a hypertext genre. It represents a single– or multi-volume document that has to be submitted when applying for a planning permission issued by an appropriate administrative authority, usu. by Building Surveyors. Its broad thematic scope provides the best proof of its multidisciplinary character – indeed, it bears witness to the complexity of investment process which has to result eventually in the completion of a new building. Building designs consist of texts featuring various genres that belong to different discourse types – apart from administrative ones, they involve texts dealing with architecture, urban architecture, structural engineering, interior fit-outs, electrical and heating facilities, sanitary fittings. Law regulations precise the exact content of a building design, which heavily depends on the putative function of a building, its degree of complexity and environmental setting. A building design thus turns out to be a multilayered genre whose composition is related to extra linguistic factors (design location and its function). It exhibits features typical of hypertext genres: non-sequentiality (non-linearity), component independence of hyperstructure, polyphony (many authors), primacy of global coherence and interactivity. All the characteristics make it difficult to apply traditional models of describing linear texts to building designs, thus proving that the dividing line between text and hypertext genres is independent of the media boundary.

Opis:
Public utility buildings are formal, structurally and functionally complex entities. In order to demonstrate energy-related defects of building designs developed by students, the conduct of analyses was proposed. The completed designs of public utility buildings were examined with regard to the energy efficiency of the solutions they feature through the application of the following program: Ecotect software was sufficient. Thus, it has been reached that how can be designed public utility buildings according to energy efficiency. Paying more attention to the energy aspect must change the previously designed architectural design of buildings.

Opis:
This paper presents genres of design documentation as categorised by literary genetics. Design documentation usually embraces all designs of a given technical object at different stages of its development. Typically, design documentation comprises two designsconceptual (initial) and construction (execution). Building design documentation is a special case of design documentation. Due to its interdisciplinary nature and the complexity of building works and implementation procedures, it includes a series of designs: conceptual design, building permit design, construction (execution) design, tender documentation and “as-built” drawings. All the above mentioned designs are commissioned by the investor, who is a de facto recipient of only one-the conceptual design. The others are aimed at the parties responsible for the approval and execution of a project. The functions of particular designs differ according to the various expectations of their respective recipients, which is reflected in differences at the level of their genre structures.

Opis:
The paper aimed at an assessment of environmental and energy impacts of designed family house using green technologies. Investigated buildings are located in Kosice region. The analysis investigates the role of applied green technologies in proposed variants of family house from embodied energy and equivalent emissions of CO2 and SO2 by using LCA assessment method within “cradle to gate” boundaries. The main contribution of the study is underlining that green technologies have significant part in the reduction of the environmental and energy impacts.

Opis:
Nowadays, many residential buildings are built in areas close to railway and tram lines. Therefore, there is a necessity to find a method that allows taking into account in the process of building design influences of the vibration caused by passing trains and trams. This article presents analysis of propagation of vibration wave excited by the movement of trams in the soil on which is planned to build multi-storey residential building. To determine the amplitude of vibration the Finite Element Method (FEM) model was used. The FEM model which was used during the analysis takes into account variable heterogeneous mechanical properties of the soil. The analysis uses the results of measurements of vibration acceleration amplitudes done by employees of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics AGH during the works on government research project 4875/B/TO2/2010/38 and the results of drilling carried out to identify the composition of the soil at the planned place of foundation building. The developed method allows determining the wave vibration in the ground without necessity to perform complex measurements of soil vibration. The proposed method can be successfully applied in the preparation of project documentation for public buildings and reduces the costs of preliminary analysis of the influence of the traffic on the dynamic properties of the newly designed facility.
