Opis:: The present paper discusses the issue of value capturing. The author’s objective was to identify factors determining the character of value capturing. In order to meet the objective, value capturing, along with several variations of the phenomenon, were identified. Next, an analysis of two companies, in light of value capturing and factors determining the character of the phenomenon was conducted. Results indicate that the character is determined by endogenous factors associated with the process of creating and transforming value by companies.Purpose – The aim of the paper is to identify factors determining the specific division of value created by companies. Methods – The study utilized a case study approach which compares a pair of companies. The study compared the attitude of other companies and their approach towards the above-mentioned pair, which may be justified by sensitivity of some areas of the issue. The selection of the case study approach results from an early stage of studies on value capturing. Results – Research results indicate that companies with limited capability for independent transformation of use value into exchange value, insufficient realization of some activities in value chain in relation to needs, and poor tangible and intangible assets, are prone to asymmetrical division of value.Limitations – In general, qualitative studies precede quantitative ones, and enable more general conclusions to be drawn. Therefore, further studies on a more sizeable sample are feasible in order to reach more applicable conclusions and for them to serve as a basis for actions to be undertaken by companies. Practical implications – Results of the study allow general guidelines for developing business models and determining direction of development for companies to be established.Novelty of the study – It seems that the present study is relatively novel due to a short period of interest in value capturing, and consequently, few publications discussing the issue available. Further studies associated with the present issue ought to examine pairs of cooperating entities which divide value asymmetrically. However, it requires methods of collecting sensitive data to be developed.

The first task is to create future revenue streams through innovations, The second focuses on increasing efficiency by matching the existing components of the business model. Optimizing these imperatives is the basis for strategic renewal and organizational success. The article presents the author’s concept of a strategic renewal process comprising four stages: triggering changes, forming concepts, changes implementation, verifying and formalizing changes. These stages were analyzed by way of implementing strategic renewal – regulatory issues and value development – exploration and exploitation.

Opis:: In this paper, we address the pursuit-evasion problem of tracking an Omnidirectional Agent (OA) at a bounded variable distance using a Differential Drive Robot (DDR), in an Euclidean plane without obstacles. We assume that both players have bounded speeds, and that the DDR is faster than the evader, but due to its nonholonomic constraints it cannot change its motion direction instantaneously. Only a purely kinematic problem is considered, and any effect due to dynamic constraints (e.g., acceleration bounds) is neglected. We provide a criterion for partitioning the configuration space of the problem into two regions, so that in one of them the DDR is able to control the system, in the sense that, by applying a specific strategy (also provided), the DDR can achieve any inter-agent distance (within an error bound), regardless of the actions taken by the OA. Particular applications of these results include the capture of the OA by the DDR and maintaining surveillance of the OA at a bounded variable distance.

Opis:: A simple and inexpensive live trap for capturing fossorial small mammals is described. It consist of a plastic tube (dark and hard, or any other imitation material) with a swinging door at each end. The trap was either positioned along or at the end of the tunnel. The hight efficiency of capture and recapture is shown with four colonies of Mediterranean voles. Up to six traps can be constructed in 1 hour, in any place, with very common and abundant material. The price is very low.

Opis:: The article presents the results of studies on the identification and analysis of problem areas concerning aspects of ergonomics in laparoscopic surgeries. The studies were based on the research carried out in both real conditions and simulation conditions. The described metho-dology and research material refers to the photographic documentation of the operating room and laparoscopic instruments, in addition to performed staged procedure as well as the way of planning the deployment of members of the surgical team and patient positioning. The next step in the research was acquisition of the data concerning the way of performance of bariatric procedures in real conditions with the use of wireless goniometer and torsiometer, made with video recording. The method of carrying out the research as well as the identification of barriers in the process of ergonomic assessment of laparoscopic procedures have allowed the authors to obtain the research material which was the starting point for the development of a research model for ergonomics in laparoscopic procedures.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki studiów w zakresie identyfikacji oraz analizy obszarów problemowych dotyczących aspektów ergonomii w zabiegach laparoskopowych w oparciu o przeprowadzone badania naukowe w warunkach rzeczywistych jak i warunkach symulowanych. Opisana metodyka i materiał badawczy odnoszą się do wykonanej przez Autorów dokumentacji fotograficznej sali operacyjnej oraz narzędzi laparoskopowych, przeprowadzenia inscenizacji zabiegu jak również zaplanowania rozmieszczenia członków zespołu chirurgicznego oraz ułożenia pacjenta. Kolejnym opisanym etapem badań jest akwizycja danych dotyczących sposobu wykonywania zabiegów bariatrycznych w warunkach rzeczywistych z zastosowaniem bezprzewodowych goniometrów dokonana za pomocą rejestracji wideo. Sposób przeprowadzania badań jak również rozpoznanie barier w procesie oceny ergonomicznej zabiegów laparoskopowych pozwoliły Autorom na uzyskanie materiału badawczego stanowiącego punkt wyjścia do opracowania modelu badawczego w zakresie ergonomii zabiegów laparoskopowych.

Opis:: Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) still treat expenditure on the purchase of the knowledge management (KM) tools as an expense and not in the category of investment. It seems that in order to motivate an SME to implement a KM tool to support it should be shown the advantages and disadvantages benefits of such activities. Opis:: The increasing pervasiveness of media in society implies the ubiquitous processes of geodata-capture and real-time feedback. The concept of Geomedia considers these developments and raises the questions of geoprivacy and corporate surveillance. The aim of this study was to investigate what kinds of geolocation data are shared wittingly or unwittingly, and in what contexts. Beyond that, we ask how much individuals know about the data-sharing processes and the underlying commercial logic, and how they act upon this knowledge (whether paradoxically or not). Our study was theoretically framed by contextual privacy (Nissenbaum 2011), because we assumed that a violation of privacy is perceived differently according to the context. The quasi-experimental design (using a WiFi-capture device) combined with a questionnaire revealed the participants’ attitudes to, and awareness of, data sharing, and their understanding of geoprivacy and geomedia use. The main results show that people are aware of the underlying commercial logic, have privacy concerns and, strongly depending on contextual factors, their knowledge and capabilities, act upon this awareness. Finally, we show that smartphones covertly share a huge amount of meta and traffic data.
