Opis:: The paper presents the results of an educational research project implemented in the school year 2016/2017 in selected primary schools in urban environment (Łódź). The aim of the study was to diagnose oppositional discursive strategies (initial opposition movements, relationships between partners, reaching agreement), in a group of thirty 8- to 9-year-olds and 9- to 10-year-olds. The research was conducted in a place that provides children with natural play conditions (school common room). The investigator appeared in the role participant as an observer (the researcher came from the examined environment and had the opportunity to “blend into” the events). The material came from participant observation. The observation embraced practical and socio-cognitive activity of the pupils. The results enables recognition of cognitive-social and communicative-interactive competences of the child. In none of the observed opposition episodes physical violence was applied to the interlocutor (only in a few cases children continued to dispute). In the process of reaching agreement in disputable situations, the children focused on agreeing on conflicting behaviours, opinions or views without an adult intermediary (despite the fact that children did not always reach an immediate agreement in the disputed situation).

Opis:: Autorka artykułu ukazała rozwój dziecka w kontekście funkcji mu-zyki. Podkreś liła wspierającą rolę edukacji muzycznej w kształtowaniu funkcji poznawczych, psychicznych, emocjonalnych, społecznych i fizycznych dziecka. Zaprezentowała wybrane eksperymenty związane z funkcjami poznawczymi, z pamięcią, koncentracją, myśleniem przestrzennym, twórczością oraz z przed-miotami szkolnymi (matematyką, językiem polskim, językami obcymi). Muzyka, która nieodzownie łączy się z przeżywaniem, wspiera rozwój emocjonalny i spo-łeczny dziecka, jest wykorzystywana w celach terapeutycznych i rekompensacyj-nych (zaburzenia mowy). Ruch jest nieodłącznym elementem zajęć muzycznych wśród małych dzieci, co pozostaje w ścisłym związku z ich rozwojem fizycznym. Zaprezentowano liczne badania wskazujące na korelację pomiędzy muzyką a roz-wojem dziecka.
The author presents children’s development in the context of the function of music. She underlines the supportive role of musical education in forming children’s cognitive, mental, emotional, social and physical functions. She presents a selection of experiments related to cognitive function, memory, concentration, spatial thinking, creativity as well as school subjects (mathematics, Polish language, foreign languages). Music, which is immanently associated with experiencing, is used for therapeutic and compensation purposes in speaking disorders. Motion is an inseparable element of musical activities of small children and is thus closely related to their physical development. Numerous research examples indicate the correlation between music and children’s development.

Opis:: Reflecting on the understanding of the world from the perspective of children is significant for several reasons. First, it allows us to examine the kind of thinking and actions of children which is of an interpretative nature: it reveals not only the child’s personal knowledge, but above all, the ways of understanding, categorising and evaluating an ambiguous and often conflicted reality. It also provides an opportunity to reconstruct the cognitive skills manifested in the verbal and non-verbal reactions of children put in front of an organised problematic situation. In view of such a conclusion, it is worth taking the time to analyse the complex problem: how children perceive the world and how to reconstruct in practice children’s processes associated with understanding, categorising, and evaluating the world.

Opis:: Cognitive and social development in the light of parents’ and teachers’ interpersonal expectancyThe quality of the cognitive and social development of a child, and, in consequence, their education process, are determined in a significant way by inaccurate expectations, i.e. too low or too high expectations on the part of the parents and/or teachers. This phenomenon is especially observable among children whose alleged handicap in the domain of cognitive and/or social functioning, propelled by the expected cognitive, emotional and behavioral limitations, could, by means of the self-fulfilling prophecy mechanism, transform into a real handicap. Analyzing the relation between false expectations and children’s performance, researchers have proven that even a small-sized effect, in the order of r = 2, usually observed in research on the expectation phenomenon, results in an increase or decrease in the dynamics of cognitive and social development among 10% different-expectancy children. In the article there are discussed the results of classic and contemporary research on the impact of different expectancies on children’s developmental achievement and mechanisms which serve to explain the above mentioned relations.

Opis:: Background. Excursions in the kindergarten improve a comprehensive development of children as they create multi-sensory learning conditions, contribute to the development of interests and activities of social and cultural nature, are a source of physical activity, as well as emotional and aesthetic experience. They play a large part in preparing a child for the future role of a tourist, constituting its first contact with the forms of tourism and sightseeing. Material and methods. The aim of the research was to learn the opinion of kindergarten teachers and parents on the role of excursions in the development of preschool age children. The study concept was based on the method of a diagnostic survey. Results. For the majority of teachers excursion plays an important role in children’s cognitive development, forming their interests and care for health and physical fitness, shaping social, moral and patriotic behaviours. Parents give excursions mainly recreational importance. Conclusions. Both teachers and parents are aware of the significant impact of excursions on children’s development. However, there are units among the surveyed who consider touring a very difficult organizational form of activities for children and therefore they often change the opportunity of learning directly into forms of obtaining less significant, indirect knowledge. Teachers and parents should be encouraged to and provided with conditions allowing for frequent trips as a means of the full development of a child.

Tytuł:: Realizacja funkcji edukacyjnej teatru dla dzieci na przykładzie Teatru Groteska w Krakowie
Implementation of the educational function of the theatre for children on the example of Groteska Theatre in Cracow

Opis:: The subject of the work hereby is the problem considering educational function of theater for children. The main purpose of this paper is to present the crucial role of the abovementioned institution in the process of educating young viewers, along with showing the fact, that educational function may be considered ambiguously. This dilemma has been discussed with reference to Teatr Groteska. Theses of this work imply, that the institution under scrutiny fulfills scholarly role through its activity, as much as employees and teachers consider this role variously. The scrutiny of this problem was based on observation, interview and surveys conducted among pedagogues and employees of Teatr Groteska. The collected data allows to draw conclusions, that this particular theater fulfills the educational function and every operation undertook by this institution is valuable as scholarly. The analysis of surveys shows that both, teachers and employees of Teatr Groteska, acknowledge the theater as educational tool for children, whereas elements of its educational function are recognized in a various way.
Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest zagadnienie sposobów realizacji funkcji edukacyjnej w teatrze ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem teatru dla dzieci. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie roli wyżej wymienionej instytucji kultury w procesie wychowania młodych odbiorców, a także ukazanie, że funkcja edukacyjna może być postrzegana w sposób niejednoznaczny. Zagadnienie to zostało omówione na przykładzie Teatru Groteska. Tezy pracy zakładają, że badana instytucja poprzez swoją działalność realizuje funkcję edukacyjną oraz że pracownicy i nauczyciele postrzegają tę funkcję w sposób różnorodny. Badania oparte zostały na obserwacji, wywiadzie oraz ankietach przeprowadzonych wśród pedagogów i osób pracujących w Grotesce. Zebrany materiał badawczy pozwala na wyciągnięcie wniosków, że Teatr Groteska realizuje funkcję wychowawczą. Każda inicjatywa podejmowana przez omawianą instytucję zawiera w sobie walory edukacyjne. Analiza ankiet pozwala na stwierdzenie, że zarazem nauczyciele, jak i pracownicy traktują teatr jako narzędzie edukacji dziecka, natomiast elementy składające się na funkcję edukacyjną są postrzegane w sposób różnorodny.

Opis:: The work concerns the role of childhood experiences in the development of mental health. It is believed that regardless of the emotional relationship and genetic predispositions, appropriately selected stimulants in the environment may also influence the young child’s development. In the first periods of child’s life the experiences gained in family pay as crucial character as the environment where this development takes place. It is emphasized in literature that appropriate intellectual and social development of a child is related with the influence of the external environment as long as it is available and logically designed. In Poland only a few studies concern families with small children – they are usually carried out by sociologists, moreover, there is also very little data on the determinants of the development of children and possible role of these for mental health. It was therefore attempted in this work to describe possible childhood experiences, which may play role in the development of mental health in childhood and adolescence or adulthood.

Opis:: The levels of skills, abilities and adaptability achieved by a child within a kindergarten community becomes a natural entry pass to participate in a wider peer community which is formed by children taking up the challenge of school education. The differences between children starting school education are visible in the fieldof broadly construed self-reliance (spatial, manual, self-service, task-based) and in numerous abilities to react, communicate and learn, gained and improved within the first6 years of life. They can result from the multiple factors connected with the child’s diversifiedpotential, the degree to which the child’s social and educational needs are taken care of. Furthermore, there are exogenous factors involved which affect the pace and character of the development process in an unusually individualized way, which in turn heavily depends on the specificsituation and the upbrin-ging methods applied. All of the above result in a situation where the differences in an individual’s readiness for school become a crucial parametric indicator which, when disregarded, can expose the child to failures during his attempts to adapt to a new environment until optimal conditions are created to enable the child to achieve success.This study provides the proposals to be used while trying to provide support for the child’s individual development and aims at protecting the child from failures at the beginning of school education or eliminating the risk of exclusion connected with the existing failures.

Opis:: An attempt to assess the structure of the studied families, patterns of their functioning, home and environment provision of toys stimulating children’s development, as well as verification of possible relationships between these variables was undertaken in this study. In order to give suggestion of typology of families there was an analysis of clusters. The study involved 126 families with children aged from 3 to 18 months. Following instruments were used: AHEMD for children aged 3-18 months and HOME for children aged 0-36 months “Interview and observation”. On the basis of the cluster analysis five types of families were distinguished – “Families with training parents”, “Families with caring parents”, “Families with parents overcoming difficulties”, “Families with elitist parents” and “Families with not-involved parents”.

Opis:: The author of the following study considers the issue of values and valuation on the basis of the selected theories related to artistic education. In her theoretical and investigative disquisitions she focuses on showing the role of personal values in the psychological, emotional and characterological context. Moreover, the author also discusses the categorical nature of personal values, their most important features and importance for musical development. The final part of the text is a presentation of the author’s own research findings on children’s voices and the study on preferred personal values of students majoring at music education.
