Opis:
Barwna i międzynarodowa przeszłość to wyraźny atut Jarosławia.
The purpose of the article is to show the cultural diversity of Jaroslaw, a town situated at the crossing of trade routes and a meeting point of three religions, Roman-Catholic, Greco-Catholic and Jewish. The remnants of this diversity are numerous sanctuaries, Orthodox churches and synagogues, and an impact on the town's current cultural landscape. An international and colourful history is one of the town's strongest assets.

Opis:
This publication is devoted to the church architecture in Southwestern Bulgaria (now Blagoevgrad region) during the First Bulgarian Tsardom, in the period from the end of the 9th to the beginning of the 11th century. From the second half of the 9th century (specifically from 864) the territories of the region under consideration officially entered the borders of the medieval Bulgarian state, which coincided with the conversion to Christianity in Bulgaria (865). The studied region covers the valleys of the rivers of Struma (Middle Struma) and Mesta (Upper and Middle Mesta), which were part of the southwestern borders of the Bulgarian state in the Middle Ages. At present, three churches can be attributed to this period, all excavated through regular archaeological excavations. These are the Basilica of St. Nicholas in the town of Melnik, the single-nave church in the area of Shipotsko at the town of Bansko and the three-conchal church at the village of Kulata, Petrich municipality. In terms of their functional characteristics, these churches include an episcopal (or parish) church (“St. Nicholas” in Melnik), a cemetery church (the church in the area of Shipotsko near the town of Bansko) and a monastery church (the church at the village of Kulata). Characteristic for the first two is their construction on older cult sites – on an ancient sanctuary and an early Christian church (the church “St. Nicholas” in Melnik) and on an early Christian temple (the church in the area of Shipotsko, at the town of Bansko). The small number of excavated church buildings from the First Bulgarian Tsardom is also typical for the rest of the Bulgarian lands. Although the examples from the region are few, they show that almost all major architectural types are found here.

Opis:
An Orthodox church as a building expresses the Eastern Orthodox spirituality – all the details and general aspects have a deep and philosophical meaning. The architecture, being an illustration of the character of the Orthodox Church liturgy, has become a natural component of the cultural landscape of Poland and Eastern Europe. Acoustic research into Orthodox churches has so far been marginalized. Up to now, only a few churches of this type have been studied. The article is a review of the acoustic environment of churches in Poland. Churches, differing in terms of size, architectural style and other quantities, were chosen and acoustic measurements were made. The results of the measurements have been analyzed and collated. In particular, a detailed analysis and comparison was made for reverberation time as a function of frequency, due to the largest differences in this parameter between the rooms.

Opis:
Context. Worship in Protestant churches in Brazil is very noisy. Thus, this practice may pose a hearing risk. Aims. To evaluate the priests’ and worshippersʼ noise exposure during worship. Settings and design. The analysis was carried out in 5 churches located in the city of São José dos Campos, Brazil. Methods and material. To estimate the worshippers’ noise exposure, an author of this study was also submitted to dosimetry. The methodology was based on Fundacentro’s Occupational Hygiene Standard No. NHO-01 (2001). Weekly noise exposure was estimated according to the priest’s information about the number of services in the period. Results. The priest’s noise exposure was over the recommended limits. The normalized exposure level varied between 95.4 to 99.5 dB(A). In 2 of the churches, the noise exposure registered, with values of 85.3 and 86.5 dB(A), may also pose risk to the worshippers. Conclusions. Worship in the churches generated sound pressure levels that imply health risk, especially to priests, so hearing conservation programs with adequate acoustical sanitation measures must be implemented there.

Opis:
The article studies those Churches that do not possess a hierarchy. When looking at the Code norms, it cannot escape notice that practically only three Canons directly relate to the abovementioned issue, namely Canons 174, 175, and 176 (CCEO). Hence the author, being doubtful, asks the fundamental question: has the legislator not forgotten about the remaining sui iuris Churches? Is this scarcity of laws in any way justified? This author deals with four Byzantine communities only: Albanian, Georgian, Russian, and Byelorussian. On closer inspection, it seems that one can hardly provide an unequivocal answer to the question whether the four communities can be regarded as sui iuris church communities. Yet, all these Churches have a unique canon structure recognised by the Apostolic See, with the exception of the Georgian community. It seems obvious that for various reasons – be it historical, political, social, or legal ones – these communities did not fulfil necessary conditions to be regarded as sui iuris Churches. It must be noted that the recreation of those structures may necessitate the use of an exception to the rule. One thing remains certain though. The highest authority in Church, the Pope or the General Council, is the only authority that is empowered to delimit the lines along which the creation or recreation of a sui iuris Church may proceed.

The church going community Węgorzyno, covering an area of five parishes: Węgorzyno Mieszewo, Runowo, Runowo Pomeranian and Sielsko are associated with deanery Łobez. In terms of pastoral, but also the position (these parishes are in the southern part of the deanery) constitute a whole, which is the center of the city Węgorzyno. Over the past 68 years since the end of World War II 31 speakers of here pastors and administrators and 29 vicars of Węgorzyna could well develop religious life. They currently employ 7,571 faithful. Evidenced by the beautiful and well-maintained churches and chapels (there are 24), as well as attendance at Mass. from 25% Mieszewie Węgorzynie and by 30% in Runowo Pomorski and Runowo 35%, even up to 60% in Sielsku. This is much larger than the average in the Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamien. Also, eleven of priestly vocations, including two religious and one for his brother and a religious nun demonstrate the vitality of the parish communities. The Cistercians presence in Winniki since 2005 provides not only spiritual enrichment, but also cultural one.

Opis:
The analysis and the state of preservation of sacred buildings in small towns and villages on the lands of Galitsky Podillya is carried out. It has been found that because of the lack of Roman Catholic parishes and Jewish religious communities in this area, a large number of churches and synagogues are in an abandoned state, abandoned temples collapse. The temples, which became subordinate to the local Greek-Catholic or Orthodox communities, are restored, often uncontrolledly rebuilt.
