Opis:
This paper presents the concept of diagnosing the technical condition of mechanical devices. The test is based on a non-invasive vibration analysis technique combined with the use of artificial intelligence method. The object of the research is an electric motor for which vibrations were recorded by a vibration sensor based on four 3-axis digital accelerometers and MPU-6050 gyroscopes. The effectiveness of classification methods using the two-class and one-class classification was compared. It has been shown that the use of an incomplete pattern of the vibration model and a single-class classifier allows for effective detection of anomalies in the operation of an induction motor. Satisfactory classification efficiency was achieved, despite the limitation of the teaching set only to the information obtained during the correct operation of the device. The described method is universal and can be used to diagnose the technical condition of many different types of technical devices.

Opis:
From the Problems of Dictionaries and Multi-lingual CorporaThe article describes the work on a number of dictionaries being developed by the Corpus Linguistics and Semantics Group of the Institute of Slavic PAS. They include “Contemporary Bulgarian-Polish Dictionary”, “Bulgarian-Polish Online Dictionary” and “Russian-Bulgarian-Polish Dictionary”. The dictionaries differ in the numbers of entries, as well as in the different degrees of their connection with parallel corpora being elaborated under the “Clarin” project. All the discussed dictionaries are similar with respect to their use of traditional, syntactic classifiers and of semantic classifiers, introduced for the first time in the existing lexicographical practice. Thanks to the “Polish-Bulgarian-Russian Corpus”, the Group has managed to verify the results of contrasting Polish and Bulgarian in the light of scope-based logical quantification. Thanks to the Russian material added to the trilingual corpus, the researchers have managed to confirm the fact that from the viewpoint of “incomplete quantification” Russian and Polish (synthetic languages) behave similarly, and are opposed to the analytic Bulgarian.

Opis:
The paper presents the technique of artifficial neural networks used as classifier of hydroacoustic signatures generated by moving ship. In the paper firstly the method of feature extraction from hydracoustic signatures using calculation of Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients was discussed. Next the mathod of feature matching using for purpose of object classification basing on hydroacoustic signatures was described. The technique of artificial neural networks especially Kohonen networks which belongs to group of self organizing networks where chosen to solve the research problem of classification. the choice was caused by some advantages of mentioned kind of neural networks for example they are ideal for finding relationships amongst complex sets of data, they have possibility to self expand the set answers for new input vectors. To check the correctness of classifier work the research in which the number of right classification for presented and not presented before hydroacoustic signatures were made. some results of research were presented on this paper.

Opis:
Multithreshold Entropy Linear Classifier (MELC) is a density based model which searches for a linear projection maximizing the Cauchy-Schwarz Divergence of dataset kernel density estimation. Despite its good empirical results, one of its drawbacks is the optimization speed. In this paper we analyze how one can speed it up through solving an approximate problem. We analyze two methods, both similar to the approximate solutions of the Kernel Density Estimation querying and provide adaptive schemes for selecting a crucial parameters based on user-specified acceptable error. Furthermore we show how one can exploit well known conjugate gradients and L-BFGS optimizers despite the fact that the original optimization problem should be solved on the sphere. All above methods and modifications are tested on 10 real life datasets from UCI repository to confirm their practical usability.

Opis:
The paper presents the dynamic ensemble selection based on the analysis of the decision profiles. These profiles are obtained from a posteriori probability functions returned from the base classifiers during the training process. Presented in the paper dynamic ensemble selection algorithms are dedicated to the binary classification task. In order to verify these algorithms, a number of experiments have been carried out on several medical data sets. The proposed dynamic ensemble selection is experimentally compared against the ensemble with the sum fusion method. As base classifiers we used the pool of homogeneous classifiers. The obtained results are promising because we could improve the classification accuracy of the ensemble classifier.

Opis:
Multithreshold Entropy Linear Classifier (MELC) is a recent classifier idea which employs information theoretic concept in order to create a multithreshold maximum margin model. In this paper we analyze its consistency over multithreshold linear models and show that its objective function upper bounds the amount of misclassified points in a similar manner like hinge loss does in support vector machines. For further confirmation we also conduct some numerical experiments on five datasets.

Opis:
Thyroid nodules are frequently observed, particularly in individuals of over 60 years of age. On the other hand, most of the detected changes are benign and they do not require surgery. Therefore, differentiation between benign and malignant lesions in preoperative diagnosis is of crucial importance. Currently, the use of fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) and cytological assessment are the gold standard in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules. This procedure significantly reduces the need for diagnostic surgical intervention. However, approximately 15–30% of cytological results are classified as indeterminate. This is mainly due to the lack of specific cytomorphologic features that would facilitate the diagnosis based on cell evaluation under microscopic assessment. For the diagnoses of atypia of undetermined significance/follicular lesion of undetermined significance (AUS/FLUS), the assessment of invasion is crucial. Such an evaluation is not possible in cytology. Recently, molecular tests have been developed. They improve cytological diagnosis, particularly in the case of indeterminate results. Commercially available tests are developed based on the North American population. It is important to assess whether such tests can be used in the evaluation of e.g., European population.

Opis:
The selection of classifiers is one of the important problems in the creation of ensemble of classifiers. The paper presents the static selection in which a new method of calculating the weights of individual classifiers is used. The obtained weights can be interpreted in the context of the interval logic. It means that the particular weights will not be provided precisely but their lower and upper values will be used. A number of experiments have been carried out on several medical data sets.
