Opis:
This paper presents the results of research of Ni/diamond composite coatings produced by electrochemical reduction method. Research was focused on composite coatings with nickel matrix and diamond as a disperse phase and for comparison purposes on nanocrystalline nickel coatings. Ni/diamond composite coatings were produced in baths with different content of nanodiamond powder. The structures of the dispersed phase and the composite coatings were analysed by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. Measurements of selected properties of the coatings were performed, including roughness, microhardness, adhesion and abrasive wear resistance. The research results indicate that the produced coatings have a compact structure and good adherence to steel substrate. Moreover, nanocrystalline Ni/diamond composite coatings exhibit greater hardness and reduced abrasive wear resistance compared to nanocrystalline nickel coatings.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of the studies of nickel-graphene composite coatings deposited by the electrochemical reduction method. A bath with low concentration of nickel ions, graphene as dispersed particles and organic compounds were used for deposition of the composite coatings nickel-graphene. The results of investigations of coatings deposited from the electrolyte containing 0.33, 0.5 and 1 g/dm3  graphene and two surface-active compounds were shown. The particles content in the coatings, the surface morphology, the cross-sectional structures of the coated samples, thickness and internal stresses were measured. Voltammetric method was used for examination of the corrosion resistance of samples of composite coatings in 0.5 M NaCl solution. The obtained results suggest that the content of incorporated graphene particles increases with an increasing amount of graphene in plating bath. The applications of organic addition agents was advantageous because it caused compressive stresses in the coatings. All of the nickel-graphene composite coatings had better corrosion resistance than the nickel coatings.

Opis:
The paper presents the theoretical basis of manufacturing and chosen applications of composite coatings with ceramic matrix containing nanomaterials as a solid lubricant (AHC+NL). From a theoretical point of view, in order to reduce the friction coefficient of sliding contacts, two materials are required, i.e. one with a high hardness and the other with low shear strength. In case of composite coatings AHC+NL the matrix is a very hard and wear resistant anodic oxide coating (AHC) whereas the solid lubricant used is the nanomaterial (NL) featuring a low shear strength such as glassy carbon nanotubes (GC). Friction coefficient of cast iron GJL-350 sliding against the coating itself is much higher (0.18-0.22) than when it slides against a composite coating (0.08-0.14). It is possible to reduce the friction due to the presence of carbon nanotubes, or metal nanowires.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of the electrodeposition of nickel composite coatings reinforced with the ceramic SiC particles. A Watts type galvanic bath modified with various organic additives was used. These additives were: 2-sulfobenzoic acid imide (LSA), dioctyl sulfosuccinate sodium salt (DSS), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane (THAM) and hexamethyldisilizane (HMDS). The nickel composite coating was electrodeposited on a 2xxx aluminum alloy series substrate (EN-AW 2017) with zinc interlayer. Studies concerned the effect of the applied organic additives on properties of composite coatings such as: microstructure, microhardness, adhesion to the substrate, corrosion resistance and roughness. The structure of the coatings was assessed by scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. Based on the studies of zeta potential it was found that the bath modification had a significant impact on the amount of the ceramic phase embedded in metal matrix. The tests conducted in a model 0.01 M KCl solution were not fully representative of the true behavior of particles in a Watts bath.

Opis:
This paper presents methods of modifying the anode surface layers of Al2O3 by introducing carbon to their rnicrostructure. Composite coatings were prepared using two different methods. In the first, coatings were formed by means of oxidation under constant current conditions. Anodic oxidation of aluminium was conducted in a multicomponent electrolyte with the addition of organic acids and graphite. The second method was based on the formation of oxide coatings in an electrolyte without the addition of graphite or heat treatment of the layers of succinic acid. The obtained coatings were tested using SEM, TEM, and GDOES (glow discharge optical emission spectrometry) and their tribological and stereometric properties were measured. The study demonstrated the beneficial effects of the methods when used to improve the tribological properties of sliding couples.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of the electrodeposition of nickel composite coatings reinforced with the nano size SiC ceramic particles. The type and size of the ceramic particles or organic additives used play a important role during electrodeposition processes. A Watts type galvanic bath with various organic additives was used. These additives were: 2-sulfobenzoic acid imide, dioctyl sulfosuccinate sodium salt (DSS), sodium dodecyl sulfate, tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane and hexamethyldisilizane. The nickel composite coating was electrodeposited on a 2xxx aluminum alloy series substrate (EN-AW 2017) with zinc interlayer. The work concerns the determination of the impact of the change in the zeta potential of SiC nanoceramic particles used on properties of composite coatings (wear resistance, corrosion, etc.). The paper characterized the composite nickel coatings on aluminum alloy using SEM techniques, wear resistance tests by TABER method and coating adhesion to the substrate using the “scratch test” method. The corrosion resistance of coatings was also tested using electrochemical methods. The research allowed to determine the effect of SiC nanoceramic particle size on the value of the zeta potential in the model KCl solution.

Opis:
Studies of composite nickel coatings electrolytically deposited on aluminium alloys with different content of vanadium were described. Composite coatings were deposited from a Watts bath containing fine-dispersed SiC powder particles in an amount of 20 g/l and organic matters such as saccharin and sodium laurate. The morphology, structure and thickness of the obtained composite coatings were presented. The corrosion resistance of produced coatings was examined by electrochemical method. Basing on the results of studies it was found that coatings obtained with the sole addition of saccharin were characterized by numerous surface defects. The addition of sodium laurate eliminated the occurrence of defects caused by hydrogen evolution and the resulting coatings were continuous with good adhesion to the substrate. The distribution of the ceramic SiC phase in coatings was fairly uniform for all the examined variants of aluminium alloys. SEM examinations did not reveal the phenomenon of the ceramic particles agglomeration.
