Opis:: Large-scale systems, such as computer and telecommunication networks, complex control systems and many others, operate in inherently parallel environments. It follows that there are many opportunities to admit parallelism into both the algorithm of control implementation and simulation of the system operation considered. The paper addresses issues associated with the application of parallel discrete event simulation (PDES). We discuss the PDES terminology and methodology. Particular attention is paid to the software environment CSA&S/PV (Complex Systems Analysis & Simulation-Parallel Version), which provides a framework for simulation experiments performed on parallel computers. CSA&S/PV was applied to investigate several real-life problems. The case studies are presented for both computer and water networks.

Tytuł:: A grammar-based multiagent system in dynamic design

Opis:: This paper deals with the system of agents treated as a concurrent modular system, which is able to support the designer in solving complex design tasks. The behavior of design agents is modeled by sets of grammar rules. Each agent manages a graph grammar and a database of facts concerning the subtask for which it is responsible. The course of designing is determined by the interaction between cooperating specialized agents. The design context is expressed by the environment in which agents act and predicates describing design criteria. The organization, design methodology, and a semantic model of a grammar-based multiagent design system are presented. The notions of a valid design solution and a design solution consistent with the design criteria are also introduced. The proposed approach is illustrated by the example of designing a house estate.

The approach is illustrated on the example of designing a simple 3d architectural object according to the accepted rules of aesthetics.

Opis:: Innovative exhaust system for light turboprop airplane has been developed and optimised. Apart from the basic function of removing exhaust from turboprop engine, the system supports cooling of the engine bay. To do this, the system removes hot air from the engine bay, utilising the ejector-pump effect, where the exhaust stream generates under-pressure, sucking the hot air through the ejector slot and removes the air together with the exhaust gases. The design and optimisation of the exhaust system has been conducted based on computational methods of Computer-Aided Design and Optimisation and Computational Fluid Dynamic. Three-dimensional analysis of flow around the airplane (including effect of propeller) and inside the exhaust system was conducted by application of URANS solver ANSYS FLUENT. Using these software the trajectories of exhaust particles, both inside the exhaust ducts and outside the airplane, have been determined. Parametric model of the designed exhaust system has been developed using the in-house software PARADES. As design parameters the diameter, length and direction of exhaust ducts as well as few parameters describing a shape of the ejector, have been established. The optimisation process aimed at designing of the exhaust system, which removes the exhaust gases possibly far away from the airframe, especially during a descent flight of the airplane. Additional objectives were maximisation of the mass flow rate of hot air sucked through the ejector and minimisation of the drag force generated by external part of the exhaust system. The optimised exhaust system should have also fulfilled requirements of permissible total-pressure losses inside the exhaust ducts. The optimised exhaust system has been implemented on the light turboprop airplane and validated during flight tests.

Opis:: This paper presents a theoretical matrix analysis of antenna structure consisting of two double-element planar antennas for ultra-wideband (UWB) application in 2*2 MIMO indoor communication systems. The structure and characteristics of planar two-element UWB antenna are presented. Two matrix models of MIMO antenna system are represented in the paper. A standard MIMO signal transmission matrix without taking into consideration the coupling between antennas is described. A new approach to a full electromagnetic analysis based on the scattering matrix of the MIMO spatial antenna array is proposed. Functional power parameters for the whole MIMO UWB transmit-receive antenna structure are introduced. Results of computer simulations of different matrices describing a MIMO antenna system and the transmission propagation pulses are presented.

Opis:: The paper presents an analysis of measurements taken on ship hull blocks to assess their feasibility for the final stage of assembly in a dry dock or on a slipway. The analysis requires first to check if blocks were manufactured within tolerances assumed in design and then to compare if two neighbouring blocks can be joined to each other. As each block is measured in a different coordinate system it is necessary to make transformations and bring results to a common CAD model without loss of accuracy. An algorithm for optimizing the transformation process to obtain better results, is proposed. The optimization is aimed at minimizing the sum of distances between transformed points and corresponding points in a CAD model. Description of the optimization method and example of its application is also presented. The problem of transformation of measurements or coordinate systems is more general as it can be found, apart from shipbuilding , e.g. in civil engineering, cartography, robot control, pattern recognition, medical imaging.

The paper presents the concept of expert system creation to design earth machine hydrodynamic transmission systems. The system will be built using a computer program "PC-Shell" forming part of a package of artificial intelligence "Sphinx" in which knowledge is represented in the form of simple and complex rules. The system based on information contained in the knowledge base, will generate a diagnosis statements. The use of this tool will enable the use of various methods of knowledge representation.

Opis:: The article deals with the characteristics of input and output data, which are necessary for manufacturing of machine parts of special purpose vehicles. It shows the relations between the individual manufacturing objects by means of information flow analysis within CAPP. It is possible to create several process plans for every engineering part and consequently use one of them in specific manufacturing conditions that are optimal according to the selected criterion. The analysis of information flow can considerably help with the process plan selection and, in result, with effectiveness or quality increasing.
Artykuł dotyczy charakterystyki danych wejściowych i wyjściowych, które są niezbędne do produkcji części maszyn do pojazdów specjalnego przeznaczenia. Pokazuje zależności między poszczególnymi obiektami produkcyjnymi za pomocą analizy przepływu informacji w ramach CAPP. Możliwe jest stworzenie kilku planów procesów dla każdej części inżynierskiej i w konsekwencji użycie jednego z nich w konkretnych warunkach produkcji, które są optymalne zgodnie z wybranym kryterium. Analiza przepływu informacji może znacznie pomóc w wyborze planu procesu, a tym samym zwiększyć jego efektywność lub jakość.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono kolejny moduł opracowywanego w Politechnice Gdańskiej programu komputerowego SATTRACK do wizualizacji, oceny i projektowania trasy kolejowej, dostosowanego do techniki ciągłych pomiarów satelitarnych. Jest to moduł TRACK_POL, służący do tworzenia poligonu kierunków głównych trasy kolejowej. Zapisane w pliku tekstowym współrzędne prostych wykorzystuje się do wyznaczenia ich równań w państwowym układzie odniesień przestrzennych 2000. Mając wyznaczone równania wszystkich prostych, jesteśmy w stanie określić współrzędne punktów głównych trasy oraz kąty zwrotu. Pokazano opis funkcjonowania programu oraz przykład jego zastosowania obejmujący nałożenie poligonu na kilkudziesięciokilometrowy odcinek pomierzonej satelitarnie linii kolejowej. Wyjaśniono również zasady wykorzystania programu w celu przygotowania danych do oceny odcinków trasy położonych w łuku.
The next module of the computer programme SATTRACK carried out at Gdansk University of Technology for visualization, assessment and designing of the railway routes which is adjusted to the technic of continuous satellite measurements have been presented in the paper. The module is called TRACK_POL, and it is used to create the range of main directions of railway route. The coordinates saved in the text file are used to calculate their equalizations in domestic reference space frame 2000. Having calculated equalizations for all lines, you can define the coordinates of the main points of the route and the turning angle. The description of programme functioning and an example of its application have been given. The rules of programme usage to prepare data for assessment of the route sections located in the arc have been explained.
