Opis:
The use of centrifugal gravity concentration in the closed-grinding circuit of a gold-containing massive sulphide ore was tested on classifier underflow and overflow. A continuous Knelson CVD6 was retrofitted to the hydrocyclone underflow for recovery of Au and Pb at a coarser feed size. The objective of treatment of overflow was recovering unliberated Au prior to flotation. The tests were performed in actual operating conditions at Nyrstar’s Myra Falls Mine. The results of the tests on the cyclone underflow revealed that both liberated and unliberated Au and Pb were recovered by the Centrifugal Variable Discharge (CVD) concentrator. Concentrate grades <60g/Mg Au were attainable at a more than 20% recovery. This application also allowed early and increased Pb recovery before it became gravity unrecoverable by over-grinding. Other benefits included capturing middlings for regrinding as well as potential coarser grinding and increase in mill throughput. A coarse grind also corresponds to a reduction in deformation of Au-particles, and is beneficial for increased Au recovery in downstream processing. Treatment of cyclone overflow by the CVD also provided favourable results. The outcomes included capturing unliberated gold prior to flotation and potentially reducing pumping requirements and reagent consumption. A comparison of the metallurgical performances showed that CVD application on classifier underflow was more effective. The CVD was capable of recovering unliberated gold in sulphides and performed better at a coarser particle size. Therefore, when used with the grinding circuit, a coarser grind can be applied and the CVD could be used to reject gangue at a coarser size.

Opis:
The basic objective in photovoltaics is obtaining electrical energy with the costs comparable to the costs of energy obtained from conventional fuels. The effectiveness of acquisition of electrical energy from solar cells can be improved, among other things, by using solar radiation concentrators. Photovoltaic systems with low concentration (LCPV) and high concentration (HCPV) were characterised [13]. The possibilities of their operation under various conditions were presented, whereas the impact of temperature and concentration angle were considered in particular. The most modern solutions were presented, including Spin cell, Ephocell, Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC), Luminescent Solar Concentrator (LSC), High Concentration PhotoVoltaic Thermal (HCPVT), Concentration PhotoVoltaic (CPV), Telecontrolli. Results of current Polish research were given. In the years from 1985 to 2010 the increase from 17,5 % to 40,7 % in the efficiency of solar cells with concentrators was achieved [18].

Opis:
Tailing from colemanite concentrators in Emet Boron Works contains significant amounts of boron and cause potential environmental problems. Therefore, the recovery of colemanite from these tailings is imperative to ensure no pollution of the environment. In addition, the tailings also have economic importance as a secondary resource due to their high content of B2O3. This study was undertaken to investigate the possibility of recovering colemanite from tailings using a Knelson concentrator. After samples in size of -1 mm and 0.5 mm were obtained from tailings (-3 mm) by comminution, these three different samples were placed into a Knelson concentrator. In addition to particle size, the effects of fluidization water velocity and bowl speed on the performance of the enrichment process were examined. A concentrate with a B2O3 content of 34.2% was produced with a recovery of 78.3% from tailings with a B2O3 content of 24.8%. Increasing the bowl speed improved the B2O3 recovery. Increasing the fluidization velocity or reducing the particle size adversely affected the recovery percentage. The enrichment process also permitted the removal of any residual As and Fe.

Opis:
In this study, an optimum beneficiation route was developed for an existing concentrator that processes low-grade chromite deposits. This objective is challenging as the grade of the ore under consideration is approximately 5%, which is the lowest grade processed in Turkey. Detailed characterization, process mineralogy and liberation studies were performed. The optimum fineness of grind was found to be 100% finer than 0.4 mm after the initial beneficiation tests. Laboratory test work was performed using a combination of a teetered bed separator (TBS), spiral concentrator and shaking table. Two different circuit alternatives including a TBS followed by only shaking tables and a combination of a spiral concentrator, TBS, and shaking tables were compared. It was found that an alternative comprising a spiral concentrator, TBS, and shaking table provided better results, required less equipment, etc. Considering these results, a provisional flowsheet was developed, and a total final concentrate of 6.8% by weight with 49.5% Cr2O3 grade and 71.51% Cr2O3 recovery could be obtained. The detailed laboratory test work was followed by plant-scale trials for the verification of the experimental findings with different circuit configurations. From roughing and scavenging spiral groups, ~85% of chromite could be obtained prior to the shaking table concentration, and this led to a minimum increase of 20% in the total recovery with less footprint of the plant, reduced water usage, and lower operating costs.

Opis:
El-Hudi gold deposit, located in the South Eastern Desert of Egypt, represent large vein- type gold occurrence. The representative sample revealed the abundance of quartz as main constituent with minor amounts of mineral impurities. Gold was detectable (12 g/t) as determined using atomic absorption. The petrographic study revealed that the gold grains ranged from 10-40 μm. The grain boundaries of quartz are highly stained with iron minerals as hematite and limonite. Sericite mineral is common in discrete gold-bearing veins. Eroded pyrite was detected with high alteration leaving only cubic-shaped cavities behind. Different techniques for gravity separation were used to separate gold from the quartz mineral. After crushing and grinding of the sample, shaking table was used to upgrade the coarser fractions while Falcon concentrator was employed to upgrade the fine fraction. The best concentrate was obtained through grinding the whole sample to less than 0.2 mm, followed by cleaning steps. The gold content is increased from 12 to 145 g/t with total recovery of 78%.

Opis:
In this study, firstly, enrichment experiments were carried out on the epithermal gold ore belonging to the Konya-İnlice region containing 2.38 ppm Au-containing oxide type ore and 1.39 ppm Au-containing sulfur ore with using Falcon device as a gravity enrichment method. In these group experiments, the effects of parameters such as centrifugal force, bowl type effect, and a solid ration of feeding were investigated. As the second enrichment method, the conventional flotation technique was applied. In these enrichment experiments, appropriate grain size, flotation time, amount of reagent, and amount of depressant, and pH effect were investigated. The results of these tests showed that while a concentrate assaying 4.79 ppm Au content was obtained with 7% recovery with Falcon Concentrator, a concentrate with 8.37 ppm Au content with 36.37 % recovery was obtained with flotation tests. Thus, if the middlings were theoretically distributed, the final concentrate recovery increased to 78.10% recovery increases to 78.10%.

Opis:
This study presents the results of the application of the laboratory gravity-recoverable-gold (GRG) determination procedure on a Turkish gold ore using a Falcon concentrator. The study had two major goals; as investigating the compatibility of Falcon concentrator for GRG procedure (which was originally developed for Knelson concentrator); and finding out the gravity recoverable gold content in Gümüşhane/Mastra gold ore. It was seen that a concentrate enriched in Au content could be successfully achieved: After the first stage a product with an Au grade of 41.09 mgAu/tonne at %10.95 fractional gold recovery at the first stage of the procedure. Au content in the concentrate increased to 98.84 mg after the second stage and finally 59.74 mg Au was obtained by the third stage. As a result of the application, it was found that the GRG content of Gümüşhane/Mastra gold was 48.28%, corresponding to a significant potential for obtaining an Au-enriched preconcentrate.

Opis:
Cassiterite (SnO2) which is the most important Sn-containing mineral, is extensively found in large quantities in discarded tailings. The recovery of cassiterite from discarded sulfide ore flotation tailings can reduce resource wastage and environmental pollution. The gravity separation technique can recover multiple valuable minerals, such as cassiterite, whose densities considerably differ from those of their associated gangue minerals. However, its recovery efficiency rapidly decreases as the mineral particle grain size decreases. To recover the finer valuable mineral particles from gravity separation tailings, flotation separation can be used as a supplementary method. In this study, the gravity and flotation separation techniques are combined to recover cassiterite from a sulfide ore tailing. The Sn grade and recovery of the final concentrate is 31.40% and 88.05%, respectively, thus indicating a highly efficient recovery of cassiterite by using the combined gravity and flotation separation technique. This study can be an important reference for recovering cassiterite from low-Sn-grade tailings.

Opis:
Detection of explosives vapors is an extremely difficult task. The sensitivity of currently constructed detectors is often insufficient. The paper presents a description of an explosive vapors concentrator that improves the detection limit of some explosives detectors. These detector s have been developed at the Institute of Optoelectronics. The concentrator is especially dedicated to operate with nitrogen oxide detectors. Preliminary measurements show that using the concentrator, the recorded amount of nitrogen dioxide released from a 0.5 ng sample of TNT increases by a factor of approx. 20. In the concentrator an induction heater is applied. Thanks to this and because of the miniaturization of the container with an adsorbing material (approx. 1 cm3), an extremely high rate of tempera ture growth is achieved (up to 500°C within approx. 25 s). The concentration process is controlled by a microcontroller. Compact construction and battery power supply provide a possibility of using the concentrator as a portable device.
