Opis:
In language, a metaphor has an ambiguous status. On one hand, it is considered to be a free speech procedure, largely ornamental, resulting from a random assembly of words, not assisted by use, and therefore exposed to interpretation and ambiguity. Consequently, its presence in specialized languages, governed since Wüster approach by requirements of discourse neutrality, objectivity and precision, would seem to be inappropriate. On the other hand, the metaphor is recognized as an effective neological process that contributes to lexical enrichment; even more, in light of recent cognitive studies, it is regarded as element which guides our perception of the world, structures our thinking and helps to conceptualize unknown areas. Reflection on the role of terms which take the form of metaphors, the ones that participate in the denomination of concepts, list its classes and examine semantic motivation in metaphorization process, has dominated the analysis undertaken in this paper; analysis, the subject of which was the French and Polish terminology in the field of the individual retirement plans.

Opis:
Conceptualisation of multifunctional agriculture in Dutch policy and research has to be understood within the typical Dutch context and can be related to different perspectives of agriculture and the rural area. The Netherlands is a densely populated country with a very produc-tive agricultural sector, exporting most of its production. Limited space, the needs for and side-effects of agricultural modernisation and increasing societal demands towards food and the rural area have since long set the debate.
Dalszy rozwój w latach osiemdziesiątych i dziewięćdziesiątych przyczynił się do rozszerzenia koncepcji wielofunkcyjności i określenia definicji: "rolnictwo szerszych celów", rolnictwo alternatywne, zintegrowane rolnictwo i zróżnicowane rolnictwo. Wielofunkcyjność rolnictwa oceniono z uwzględnieniem jego udziału w zrównoważonym rozwoju obszarów wiejskich. Obecnie zrównoważony rozwój obszarów w większym stopniu niż koncepcja wielofunkcyjności koncentruje uwagę zarówno polityków, jak i badaczy w Holandii.

Conceptualisation of "crowdsourcing" term in management sciences
Autorzy:
Lenart-Gansiniec, Regina
Opis:
Background. Crowdsourcing is a relatively new concept, nonetheless it has been raising more and more interest with researchers. This is a result of its potential since it enables improving business processes, creating open innovations, building of competitive advantage, access to experience, information, crowd skills and work, problem solving, crisis management, expanding the organisation's existing activity and offer, creating the organisation's image, improving communication with the surroundings, optimising costs of the organisation's activity. However, although the subject of crowdsourcing constitutes one of the currently emerging directions of research on the basis of management sciences, one observes a peculiar exploration difficulty. It may result from incoherence in conceptualisation or explication of this term. Research aims. The aim of this article is an attempt, basing on the existing research efforts, to conceptualise crowdsourcing based on management sciences. In the article a proposal of conceptualising the notion of crowdsourcing was presented including its levels. Methodology. For the needs of specifying, evaluation, and identification of the existing state of knowledge on crowdsourcing, a systematic literature review was conducted. It enabled getting familiar with the results of similar research, its selection and critical analysis and based on that it was used for expanding the earlier findings of other researchers. The biggest, full text databases i.e Ebsco, Elsevier/Springer, Emerald, Proquest, Scopus, and ISI Web of Science, which include the majority of journals on strategic management were analysed. In order to establish the state of knowledge and existing findings a review of databases in Poland: BazEkon and CEON was also conducted. 54 elaborations of English language databases and 41 from Polish language databases from the period of 2006-2017 were analysed. Key findings. A review of the scientific output revealed incoherence in the conceptualisation of the term of crowdsourcing. The approaches proposed in the existing literature are inadequate and do not allow for full understanding of crowdsourcing.

Opis:
The research work on multifunctionality in France is being carried on by a variety of epistemologic communities, with a wide range of research questions and methods. The purpose of this state of the art report is to identify these communities, their different uses of the concept of multifunctionality, and the types of agriculture it refers to. The functions to be promoted and the way to enhance them can be related to the theoretical framework used. Six main types of epis-temic communities are identified in the French literature, which highlight a common view on the functions of agriculture, and the scientific approach. Some research gaps in the French literature are suggested. The way to convert the principles of multifunctionality or the principles of sustain-able development into farm policy principles in particular is a matter of interest. More empirical research is also needed to characterize multifunctionality, including divergent perceptions and valuations by different stakeholder groups.
Funkcje przypisywane koncepcji wielofunkcyjności nawiązują do teoretycznych podstaw. W badaniach zidentyfikowano sześć głównych nurtów badawczych realizowanych we Francji, jednocześnie wskazano na obszary badawcze wymagające dalszych badań. Dodatkowo określono zakres implementacji idei wielofunkcyjności lub zrównoważonego rozwoju polityki rolnej.

Opis:
The author attempts to determine the role of imagination in (literary) translation Definitions of various types of imagination, taken from dictionary, or discussed in psychological works, are referred to in relation to processes occurring in the mind of a recipient of text (the readertranslator and the intended reader of translation) confronted with the original, defined as “the Other’s word.” The discussion is illustrated by three selected examples of relations between imagination and foreign cultural determinants: a poet’s reference to an outdated, idealised cognitive model, reference to the Other’s realities of material culture, and grammatical determination of a cultural cognitive model. The article ends with conclusions related to the notion of translation equivalence.

Opis:
The specificity of poetic language boils down to changing the meaning of words that have already been used many times. Starting from the basic level of a word categorization, a poet, thanks to subjective associations, knowledge and experience transforms them into a new quality characterized by semantic precision and emotional sophistication. The cycle of poems of Inna Lisnyanskaya Слово без имени (2007) is an example of such a conceptualization.

Opis:
The article is a review aiming to present the current research on the concept of geographic proximity and attempts to conceptualise it. The implementation of such a task required the identification of different ways of approaching the analysed issue, which was served by a systematic review of the literature, not performed on such a scale since the study of J. Knoben and L. Oerlemans (2006) (Micek, 2017). Proximity was captured in it using three types of logic: belonging, neighbourhood or similarity. Studies of proximity perceived as a value and trying to capture its intensity are rare. On the other hand, studies based on the proximity thresholds (most often expressed regarding physical distance) or affiliation to an administrative unit dominate. Meanwhile, proximity should be measured similarly as it is perceived and therefore using the logic of similarity. Therefore, there is a contradiction between the existing methods of measuring proximity and the essence of the concept itself. There is a need to capture proximity on a continuum that illustrates its intensity. The assessment of proximity, however, requires joint consideration of both objective and subjective measures, as well as the rejection of the thesis on the binary nature of the concept of proximity (Torre, Rallet, 2005).

Opis:
The theory of embodiment (Lakoff and Johnson 2003; Gibbs et al. 2004) explains the origin of meaning by postulating that thought is influenced by sensorimotor experience (Robbins and Aydede 2009). However, the relation between the body, mind and environment is not unidirectional. Not only do we derive information from the world, but we are also able to use it as an extension of the mind through epistemic actions, strategies that minimize the cognitive load by offloading it onto the environment (Kirsh and Maglio 1994). This paper investigates the potential of gesture as epistemic action. 12 blind and severely visually impaired children and young adults, as well as a control group of 7 young adults were interviewed for the purpose of the study. Participants were asked to explain a set of abstract and concrete concepts while their speech and gestures were recorded. If gesture indeed plays a role in reducing the mental load by externalizing thought, more gestures should be produced for concepts that are more difficult to describe (in this case: abstract, intangible concepts). Qualitative data analysis, as well as simple statistical analyses of gesture type, number and gesture per word rates show that abstract concepts do not generate more gestures, but do prompt blind and visually impaired speakers to use simulation gestures. These gestures constitute reenactments of situations associated with a given concept by the respondent. They are also thought to confirm the embodied cognition hypothesis (Hostetter and Alibali 2008). A number of examples demonstrates that abstract concepts in blind children are strongly grounded in their experience of real-world situations. Findings suggest that gesture is not merely a tool for communication, but a way of extending the capabilities of the mind.

Opis:
The Metaphor in the Russian Economic Terminology as a Way of Representing Specialist Meanings from the Cognitive Point of View. An Outline of the Problem: The article aims to present the phenomenon of the metaphor in relation to economic terms in the form of metaphors in Russian (English and Polish) from the cognitive perspective. A metaphor in the terminology is a quite complex structure which combines the objective reality represented by its designatum and the reflection of common social-communicative practice. Combining in such a term two opposing trends – precision and explicitness, which are congruent with terminological signs from the definite sphere of science and professional practice, as well as figurativeness, indefiniteness, and vulnerability to interpretation, which are typical for the metaphor make them a sign from the border of language and speech (langue and parole). The cognitive approach to analysing of such signs will enable understanding the tendencies in the conceptualisation of specialist notions and considering them in different specialist and non-specialist contexts.
