Opis:: The Warsaw Uprising of August to October 1944 is a most appropriate subject given the impending 60th anniversary observance of this heroic and tragic occurrence. Our panel affords us with the opportunity to discuss and to reflect on this event, which in many ways embodies so much of the larger story of modern Poland. Our discussion occurs also at a time when we recall many other events of 1944, a climactic year in World War II. June 6 marks the 60th anniversary of the successful and massive Allied military invasion of France in Normandy. This victory was the decisive military achievement of the United States of America and its allies against Nazi Germany on the western front.

Opis:: II Asian Congress took place on 21st and 22nd of May, 2015. It was the largest event of its kind in Europe. Once again, it was a great opportunity to meet representatives of science, business and politics who deal with Asian affairs daily. The event appeared to be so spectacular that it was impossible to organize it in one place. Therefore, many panels were held simultaneously in the Kuiavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Marshall’s Office building, Torun City Council’s building and the Modern Art Centre „Signs of Time”.

Opis:: The rising prevalence of allergic or intolerance responses for food containing specific cereals or their derivatives such as wheat, barley or rye has resulted in intense scientific research focused on providing gluten-free raw materials and products. As beer is mainly made from barley or wheat malt, this problem also appears in the brewing industry. The removal of harmful protein and the usage of gluten-free raw material are the two most typical routes to avoid gluten presence in beer. A raw material with great potential in brewing is buckwheat, which as a pseudocereal does not contain any gluten allergenic proteins. Although the scientific work has not so far led to brewing beer from 100% buckwheat malt without enzyme addition support – this raw material is still undergoing extensive investigation. However commercial buckwheat malts have appeared on the market, which the producers declare suitable for brewing. In this study Château Buckwheat (Castle Malting) commercial buckwheat malt was evaluated for its suitability for brewing. Malt grain analysis and the influence of buckwheat malt contribution in malt mixture on extract yield, viscosity and colour of congress worts were evaluated using RSM.
Rosnąca częstość występowania reakcji alergicznych lub nietolerancji na żywność zawierającą określone zboża lub ich pochodne, jak pszenica, jęczmień lub żyto, powoduje zintensyfikowanie prac naukowych skupiających się na dostarczaniu surowców i produktów bezglutenowych. Ponieważ piwo wytwarzane jest głównie ze słodu jęczmiennego lub pszenicznego, ten problem występuje również w przemyśle piwowarskim. Wyeliminowanie szkodliwego białka lub użycie surowca naturalnie bezglutenowego to dwa najbardziej typowe sposoby uniknięcia obecności glutenu w piwie. Surowcem o dużym potencjale warzenia jest gryka, która jako pseudozboże nie zawiera białek glutenu. Chociaż dotychczasowe wysiłki naukowe nie doprowadziły do wyprodukowania piwa ze 100% słodu gryczanego bez dodatku enzymu, surowiec ten nadal jest przedmiotem szeroko zakrojonych badań. Na rynku pojawiły się słody gryczane, których producenci deklarują przydatność do warzenia piwa. W tym badaniu komercyjny słód gryczany Château Buckwheat (Castle Malting) został oceniony pod kątem przydatności do warzenia. Badanie ziarna słodowego i wpływ zawartości słodu gryczanego w mieszaninie słodu na wydajność ekstraktu, lepkość i kolor brzeczki oceniono z użyciem metody powierzchni odpowiedzi.

Opis:: Between 1 and 4 May 2015, I participated in the World Confederation for Physical Therapy Congress (WCPT) 2015 in Singapore. The Congress took place at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, and attracted 3500 attendants. In total, 572 oral reports were given and 1578 posters were presented. Furthermore, 25 focused symposia, 11 panel discussions, 18 seminars and 36 networking session were organised. The level of discussions varied. I found the reports concerning the application of new post-stroke rehabilitation methods to be the most interesting, and especially the session entitled ‘Best practice for arm recovery post-stroke: an international application’, presented by Professors Steven Wolf from Atlanta, Gert Kwakkel from Amsterdam, Mark Bayley from Toronto and Michelle McDonnell from Adelaide. At the poster session, I presented a study entitled ‘Effects of gait training with partial body-weight support (PBWS) in the early stage after a stroke – a preliminary report’ (by Jarosław Szczygieł and Józef Opara). The World Confederation for Physical Therapy brings together approximately 23 thousand physical therapists from all over the world. It was announced that the outgoing WCPT President, Marilyn Moffat, has been succeeded by Emma Stokes from Dublin. The next congress will be held between 2 and 4 July 2017 in Cape Town.

Opis:: On September 3-7, 2019, in Krakow, the Jubilee Congress of Polish Mathematicians took place, organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Polish Mathematical Society. The congress became an opportunity to meet mathematicians who are active in the country. Additionally, mathematicians who, for various reasons, went abroad and conduct their activities there, were also present. Finally, the congress gathered many mathematics teachers and all those for whom mathematical issues are within their interests. The program was very rich. Among other activities, there were lectures by scientists representing various elds of mathematics. Several sessions were devoted to mathematics education. One of them took the form of a panel session entitled "On teacher education and key problems in mathematics teaching". The panelists have agreed to publish their talks. Here we present the talks of two panel participants: prof. Ryszard Pawlak and prof. Michał Szurek. Their talks are presented in an extended version, in order for the authors to better present their ideas. To these talks we attach the comments of two discussion participants: Dr. Konstantinos Tatsis from University of Ioannina, Greece and Dr. Jacek Dymel from Vth secondary school (Lyceum) in Cracow.

Opis:: Praca dotyczy wydarzenia, które miało wpływ na rozwój prawa międzynarodowego -kongresu wiedeńskiego. Celem autora pracy było przeanalizowanie wpływu kongresu wiedeńskiego na rozwój prawa międzynarodowego, oraz tego, jak duży był ten wpływ. Praca zatytułowana jest „Wpływ kongresu wiedeńskiego na rozwój prawa międzynarodowego” i składa się z pięciu rozdziałów. Jak sam tytuł wskazuje praca dotyczy głównie wpływu kongresu na prawo międzynarodowe, przez co niektóre kwestie historyczne zostały pominięte lub przedstawione w bardzo wąskim zakresie. Autor podczas pisania pracy korzystał w dominującej części z książek polskojęzycznych, oraz w mniejszym stopniu z literatury angielskojęzycznej. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia zarys historyczny kongresu. Drugi rozdział pracy dotyczy ustaleń kongresu dotyczących handlu niewolnikami. Trzeci rozdział pracy ma za zadanie przybliżyć czytelnikowi uregulowania dotyczące przedstawicieli dyplomatycznych. Rozdział czwarty zajmować się ma regulacjami dotyczącymi wolności żeglugi na rzekach międzynarodowych.Ostatni, piąty rozdział pracy dotyczy Świętego Przymierza przedstawionego, jako archetyp organizacji międzynarodowej.
MA thesis concerns occurence, which have influence on the development of international law – congress of vienna. Purpose of author was to analyze influence of congress of vienna on the development of international law, and how big was that influence. MA thesis is entitled "the influence of the congress of vienna on the development of international law" and consist of five chapters.Title suggest that author attend mainly on influence of congress into international law, so some histrorical matters was omitted or exposed in very narrow extent. During writing the MA thesis author was using in main part polish books, and also some english books but in smaller part.First chapter introduce historical adumbration of the congress. Second chapter of MA thesis concerns rules from congress about slave trade. Third chapter have task to show reader regulations concerns diplomatic representatives. Fourth chapter deal with regulations which relate to freedom of navigation on the international rivers. Last, fifth chapter of MA thesis concerns Holy Alliance, which was show as archetype of the international organisation.

Opis:: On 25–27th September 1912, scientific and clergy circles in Cracow hosted the Catholic Congress to commemorate Piotr Skarga. It constituted the main element of the Polish commemoration of the 300th Anniversary of Piotr Skarga’s death. Beyond-partitions nature of the meeting was reflected in the composition of the organizing committee, the issues discussed, and the resolutions passed. The Congress also provided an opportunity to manifest the connections between Polish circles in public. The Congress’ commemoration of Piotr Skarga should also be considered as an element of a reliable method that allowed scientific and socio-professional circles to establish and maintain contacts beyond partitions.
