The article addresses the possibility of combining conservative thought and modern education. The author poses many important questions. Is it justified to identify conservative thought with the traditional didactics of Herbart? Is it possible to combine conservative thought in education with modern didactics? The author’s thesis is that it is possible to construct a modern school, full of didactic innovations, which is guided by the axiological compass of conservative values and functions within a certain framework of conservative principles regulating its activity. She believes that it is possible to reconcile the conservative idea with modern didactic thought, provided that one clearly defines what is the goal and what is the way to achieve it. In the article she develops issues of defining what conservatism can be in relation to school. The paper also describes what modern education means. Finally, it identifies and discusses an example of a school implementation that reconciles a conservative axiological and organizational framework with a modern approach to teaching and learning processes.

Opis:: Hallux valgus is one of the most common deformities within forefoot region. Reasons for this deformity are not entirely clear. The available literature lists both internal and external factors. Researchers dealing with hallux valgus emphasize that this deformation is accompanied by pain, reduced quality of life, changed foot statics, cosmetic problems and problems with buying the right footwear. The occurrence of pain may significantly affect the quality of everyday functioning and the broadly understood quality of life. The purpose of the following publication is to review selected interactions in the area of physiotherapy and orthopedic measures in the therapy of people reporting pain within the hallux valgus region.
Paluch koślawy jest jedną z najczęstszych deformacji w obrębie przodostopia. Przyczyny powstawania tej deformacji nie są do końca wyjaśnione. W dostępnej literaturze wymienia się zarówno czynniki wewnętrzne, jak i zewnętrze. Badacze zajmujący się tematyką palucha koślawego podkreślają, iż wspomnianej deformacji towarzyszą: dolegliwości bólowe, obniżona jakość życia, zmieniona statyka stopy, problemy natury kosmetycznej oraz problemy z zakupem właściwego obuwia. Pojawienie się dolegliwości bólowych może w istotny sposób wpłynąć na jakość codziennego funkcjonowania oraz na szeroko rozumianą jakość życia. Celem poniższej publikacji jest przegląd wybranych oddziaływań z zakresu fizjoterapii i zaopatrzenia ortopedycznego w terapii osób zgłaszających dolegliwości bólowe w obrębie palucha koślawego.

Opis:: The results of numerical simulations presented in this paper are concerned with instability of a three member slender system subjected to Euler load. The investigated column is built up as a flat frame composed of three rods. In the internal one, the defect is present in form of a crack. The boundary problem has been formulated on the basis of a static criterion of instability. The boundary conditions associated with different types of supports are obtained by proper selection of parameters of the generalized load. On the basis of these results, the magnitude of bifurcation load can be determined.

Opis:: Introduction: Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency in children. Appendicular mass is a relatively common complication in improperly treated patients. The management of appendicular mass remains controversial. Aim: This study aims at determining factors affecting the effectiveness of conservative management of appendicular mass. Material and methods: This was a retrospective study of 71 children younger than 15 years with appendicular mass managed at Basra Children’s Specialty Hospital during the period between 2015 and 2019. Factors like age of the patient, duration of symptoms prior to hospital admission, size of the mass, complications, hospital stay and outcome are reviewed. Results: Appendicular mass complicates 3.9% of all cases of acute appendicitis. Conservative management of appendicular mass was effective in 84.5%. Appendicular mass occurred most frequently in children aged 5–10 years (48%). Male is more frequently affected than female with a ratio of 1.4. Regarding age effect on the efficacy of conservative management of appendicular mass, there is a significant association with P-value = 0.017. Duration of symptoms or size of the mass has no significant association with the success of conservative management. No mortality or major surgical complications are encountered. Although effective, conservative management prolongs the length of hospital stay. Conclusion: Conservative management of appendicular mass in children should be revised particularly in children younger than 5 years old, wherein operative treatment may be the first option. The reasons for that are high rate of failure of conservative management with early progress to appendicular abscess. These could be explained by the underdevelopment of the greater omentum lacking its protective effect in limiting the spread of inflammation. In addition, early appendectomy has the following advantages: decreased risk of adhesive intestinal obstruction, shortening of hospital stay (i.e, less economic burden), and avoidance of second readmission for interval appendectomy

Opis:: Ze stanu polskiej edukacji wynika, że w ostatnich dekadach zabrakło w niej wpływów pedagogiki, która ocala tradycję i tworzy drogi ewolucyjnego doskonalenia edukacji. Miała ona bowiem zbyt wielu wrogów wśród "zdetronizowanych" (pozornie) elit oficjalnie zamkniętego w 1989 roku systemu pedagogiki socjalistycznej. Po trzech dekadach miękkich gier politycznych i naukowych elity uniwersyteckie tej dyscypliny dokonały kolonizacji pedagogiki przez pedagogikę krytyczną (neomarksistowską). Skutkiem tego pedagog wiążący swoje prace z innym (prawicowym, powiązanym z religią katolicką) nurtem ideologii edukacyjnej doświadcza (w zależności od środowiska) różnych rodzajów marginalizacji, a nawet opresji: od pseudonaukowych argumentów po racje (ponownie!) „jedynie słusznej” ideologii edukacyjnej. W tej sytuacji pedagogom nurtu konserwatywnego pozostaje rola awangardy uprawiającej pedagogikę konserwatywną jako skrajnie niepopularną, twórczą i zarazem nowatorską; awangardy potrafiącej przy tym udźwignąć niechęć, pogardę i marginalizację akademickiej (neomarksistowskiej) większości, która w efekcie kolonizacji zdominowała struktury nauki oraz jej bliższe i dalsze konteksty. Wobec powyższego uprawnione staje się pytanie: czy pozostał nam już tylko konserwatyzm awangardowy?
The state of Polish education shows that in the last decade it lacked the influence of pedagogy, which saves tradition and encourages the evolution of educational improvement. It has faced too many enemies among the elite of socialist pedagogy, which was (supposedly) dethroned after 1989. After three decades of soft political and scientific games, this academic elite successfully colonialized the field of pedagogy by means of (neo-Marxist) critical pedagogy. As a result of this pedagogue associated with another stream of educational ideology (e.g., rightwing, Catholic) experience various types of marginalization and even oppression (depending on the environment): from pseudoscientific arguments to the rationale (again!) of the ‘only right’ educational ideology. In this situation, conservative pedagogues are left in the role of the avant-garde; practicing conservative pedagogy that is extremely unpopular, creative, and at the same time innovative. This avant-garde can bear the weight of aversion, contempt, and the marginalization by the academic (neo-Marxist) majority, which as a result of colonization has come to dominate the structures of science and its closer and further contexts. In light of this situation, we are faced with the following question: are we left with only avant-garde conservatism?

Opis:: The paper deals with the modal analysis of mechanical systems consisting of n identical masses connected with springs in such a way that the stiffness matrix has the form of a multiband symmetric matrix. The eigenvalue problem formulated for such systems is characterised by repeated eigenvalues to which linearly independent eigenvectors correspond. The solution to the eigenvalue problem has been found for an arbitrary, finite number of degrees of freedom for the fully coupled systems and the systems in which the masses are exclusively connected with the nearest neighbours. Depending on the property of the eigenvectors, two forms of the solution to the initial value problem have been derived. The general deliberations are illustrated with an example of the system with 10 degrees of freedom for 5 different degrees of coupling.
Praca dotyczy analizy modalnej układów mechanicznych, zbudowanych z n identycznych mas połączonych sprężynami w taki sposób, by macierz sztywności miała budowę wielopasmowej macierzy symetrycznej. Zagadnienie własne sformułowane dla tych układów charakteryzuje się wielokrotnymi wartościami własnymi, którym odpowiadają układy liniowo niezależnych wektorów własnych. W pracy podano analityczne rozwiązanie zagadnienia własnego dla dowolnej, skończonej liczby stopni swobody, dla układu w pełni sprzężonego i układu, w którym każda masa połączona jest wyłącznie z dwiema sąsiednimi. W zależności od własności wektorów własnych podano dwie postacie rozwiązania zagadnienia początkowego. Rozważania teoretyczne zilustrowano przykładem układu o 10 stopniach swobody, dla 5 różnych stopni sprzężenia.
