Opis:: Let J be an abelian topological semigroup and C a subset of a Banach space X. Let L(X) be the space of bounded linear operators on X and Lip(C) the space of Lipschitz functions ⨍: C → C. We exhibit a large class of semigroups J for which every weakly continuous semigroup homomorphism T: J → L(X) is necessarily strongly continuous. Similar results are obtained for weakly continuous homomorphisms T: J → Lip(C) and for strongly measurable homomorphisms T: J → L(X).

Opis:: We introduce a subclass of the family of Darboux Baire 1 functions f : R → R modifying the Darboux property analogously as it was done by Z. Grande in [On a subclass of the family of Darboux functions, Colloq. Math. 17 (2009), 95–104], and replacing approximate continuity with I-approximate continuity, i.e. continuity with respect to the I-density topology. We prove that the family of all Darboux quasi-continuous functions from the first Baire class is a strongly porous set in the space DB1 of Darboux Baire 1 functions, equipped with the supremum metric.

Zachowanie ciągłości przestrzennej układów urbanistycznych współczesnej przestrzeni miejskiej jest ważne dla zachowania tożsamości miejsca, ładu przestrzennego. Współczesny rozwój zabudowy miejskiej powinien zachowywać ciągłość kulturową, stanowić poszanowanie dla istniejącej infrastruktury architektoniczno-urbanistycznej. Przedstawiona metoda SCD pozwala na zachowanie pewnych prawidłowości w projektowaniu i planowaniu nowej zabudowy miejskiej.

The main topic of the paper is to analyse the Business Continuity Plan and the necessity of implementing BCP in every organisation operating in the 21st Century. The most important goal of any organization is execution of operations even in the face of crisis or danger. The first chapter presents the history of development of the BCP and its elements. The second chapter discusses the BCP’s life cycle. In the third chapter the Author describes the methods of control and audit of the Business Continuity Plan. In the forth the Author disuses the Attached in the Annex 1 Pandemic Business Continuity Plan for Alma SA. The paper includes illustrations, tables and references.Key Words:

Opis:: We solve several problems in the theory of polynomials in Banach spaces. (i) There exist Banach spaces without the Dunford-Pettis property and without upper p-estimates in which all multilinear forms are weakly sequentially continuous: some Lorentz sequence spaces, their natural preduals and, most notably, the dual of Schreier's space. (ii) There exist Banach spaces X without the Dunford-Pettis property such that all multilinear forms on X and X* are weakly sequentially continuous; this gives an answer to a question of Dimant and Zalduendo [20]. (iii) The sum of two polynomially null sequences need not be polynomially null; this answers a question of Biström, Jaramillo and Lindström [8] and also of González and Gutiérrez [23]. (iv), (v) The absolutely convex closed hull of a pw-compact set need not be pw-compact; the projective tensor product of two polynomially null sequences need not be a polynomially null sequence. This answers two questions of González and Gutiérrez [23]. (vi) There exists a Banach space without property (P); this answers a question of Aron, Choi and Llavona [5].

Opis:: Aim/purpose – The purpose of this paper is to recognize and compare the best practices that ensure the flexibility and continuity of supplies. Although the flexibility drivers and continuity risk drivers, according to the literature, are actually the same, there is a lack of research articles on this aspect. Design/methodology/approach – A two-phase methodology design, based on the literature review and in-depth interviews, was used, and seven in-depth interviews with the representatives of manufacturing companies that operate in different sectors were conducted. Findings – Supply flexibility and continuity are presented in the literature, mainly as the responses to the business environmental events/changes that have already occurred. Nevertheless, the researched manufacturing companies recognize their use in terms of prevention as well. The researched enterprises use traditional ways of dealing with supply problems (alternative supplier, inventory buffers). They do not really connect ensuring supply continuity with long-term disruptions, but rather understand it as prevention of typical supply delays and quality problems. The respondents regard supplier flexibility not only as a way of responding to the forecasted demand changes but also to unexpected situations. The companies ensure supply continuity and supply flexibility using similar but not exactly the same strategies. For the reactive strategies, sourcing decisions are crucial, whereas for preventive strategies – it is supplier performance management. Research implications/limitations – The small number of conducted interviews is a limitation of performed research, however, some directions for future research can be noted. Apart from other implications described in the paper, it is deduced that sourcing flexibility positively influences supply continuity. Nevertheless, this hypothesis needs quantitative verification. Originality/value/contribution – The paper compares the issue of supply flexibility with the issue of supply continuity. For these two areas, it identifies common and individual strategies that are performed by researched companies in terms of prevention and reaction to risk and uncertainty.

Opis:: In [4] W. Li and S.S. Cheng prove a Picard type existence and uniqueness theorem for iterative differential equations of the form y'(x) = f(x,y(h(x)+g(y(x)))). In this article I show some analogue of this result for a larger class of functions f (also discontinuous), in which a unique differentiable solution of considered Cauchy's problem is obtained.
