Opis:: The first three parts of the chapter contain an introduction, the basics of the theory of reliability and modeling of aging processes of machine and device elements. They are an introduction to this subject matter and are supplemented by an extensive bibliography allowing for the exploration of the concepts presented in them. Part four demonstrates how knowledge about reliability and aging components can be practically used in a production environment. The fourth part presents numerical methods of optimizing the operating costs of non-repairable elements that can be used in the maintenance departments of manufacturing companies.
Pierwsze trzy części rozdziału zawierają wprowadzenie, podstawy teorii niezawodności oraz modelowania procesów starzenia elementów maszyn i urządzeń. Stanowią one wprowadzenie w tą tematykę i są uzupełnione obszerną bibliografią pozwalającą na zgłębienie przedstawionych w nich pojęć. W części czwartej zademonstrowano, w jaki sposób wiedza z zakresu niezawodności i starzenia elementów może być praktycznie wykorzystana w środowisku produkcyjnym. W czwartej części przedstawione zostały również numeryczne metody optymalizacji kosztów eksploatacji elementów nienaprawialnych, które mogą znaleźć zastosowanie w działach utrzymania ruch firm produkcyjnych.

Opis:: Fiber To The Home (FTTH) is the most ambitious among optical technologies applied in the access segment of telecommunications networks. The main issues of deploying FTTH are the device price and the installation cost. Whilst the costs of optical devices are gradually decreasing, the cost of optical cable installation remains challenging. In this paper, the problem of optimization that has practical application for FTTH networks is presented. Because the problem is Non-deterministic polynomial-time hard (NP-hard), an approximation algorithm to solve it is proposed. The author has developed the algorithm in a C# program in order to analyze its performance. The analysis confirms that the algorithm gains near-optimal results with acceptable time consumption. Therefore, the algorithm to be applied in a network design tool for FTTH network planning is proposed.

Opis:: A modular transfer line designing problem is investigated. The problem is to find the best subset of modules (machining units) from a given set and to assign them to different stations so that technological constraints and cycle upper limit are respected and the line cost is minimal. The investigated lines have a mixed activation mode for the machining units of each station, i. e. the units of each station are arranged into a series of stages such that each stage is composed of several units activated in parallel. A mixed integer program approach is proposed to model and solve the corresponding design problem. Improvements are suggested in order to reduce the model size and speed up the computations.

Opis:: Red Tech. BD, an online based business company intended to spread their business over whole Rajshahi District. As there is no cost for manufacturing the only factor that can maximize the profit is the product transportation cost. Determination of the optimum & reliable transportation medium was the first challenge. A suitable destination for distributing the products in the selected location has been chosen carefully on the basis of demand & minimum rent of warehouse. First, the mathematical model has been formed & then it has been solved by a program written in ‘C’ programming language. The program can show the result of the optimum amount of supply with the corresponding destination together in a single output. Verification of the program or ‘code’ has been done with the help of hand calculation. The company can determine the supply unit with destination to minimize the transportation cost before every shifting of products from warehouse to the destination.

Opis:: This paper proposes an efficient, objective method of optimizing fuel costs during the sea passage. The presented method based on data collection and calculations can be used in daily practice for masters of vessels and by ship’s management divisions. The paper presents not only the use of the method for newly constructed but also for ships already in service. The biggest advantage of this method is that it does not need extra expenses to determine the fuel effectiveness in a changeable marine fuel market.

Opis:: Bringing a new IT product onto the market possess a high business risk due to two main factors: lifetime of an IT product is usually short; IT market is very competitive one. Product success depends on many mutually linked factors and very often the relations among them are difficult to grasp by business analysts. In the paper we present the System Dynamics model describing some important factors which should be analyzed before bringing a new IT product onto the market. We assume that an IT product is maintained within an outsourcing model by other company which uses a cloud computing for that purpose. Our study embraces analysis of the pricing policy of product and that takes into account opponents in the market. We also consider possible modifications of IT product configurations, outsourcing scope and the modification of marketing policy depending on actual IT product parameters. While building the model presented in the paper, contrary to other models in literature, we have used only parameters which can be estimated precisely. By sticking to this attitude we have obtained the model which is more useful than other models presented in the literature on the subject. We present simulation results of the dynamic model for different simulation scenarios resulting from different policies of bringing a new product onto the market.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono propozycję zastosowania aspektów ekonomicznych w procesie optymalizacji konstrukcji rekuperatora. W proponowanym modelu uwzględniono koszt wytworzenia instalacji wymiennika ciepła oraz predykowane korzyści ekonomiczne w trakcie eksploatacji urządzenia z rekuperatorem. Predykowane korzyści obejmują wzrost efektywności energetycznej wynikający z liczby stosowanych modułów rekuperatora, spadek efektywności rekuperatora w trakcie eksploatacji, koszt wytwarzania ciepła, średnie temperatury w położeniu geograficznym oraz czas pracy. Przeprowadzono studium przypadku na przykładzie kabiny lakierniczej.
The paper presents a proposal of economic aspects application in the process of optimizing the construction of heat recovery unit. The proposed model includes the cost of heat exchanger installation and the predicted economic benefits during the operation of the device. The predicted benefits include an increase of energy efficiency resulting from the number of modules of heat recovery unit, decrease unit efficiency during operation, the cost of heat production, average temperatures in the geographical location and working time. A case study was carried out on the example of a spray booth.

Opis:: Many construction projects contain several identical or similar units, such as floors in multistory buildings, houses in housing developments, sections of pipelines or highways. Repetitive processes arise from the subdivision of a generalized construction process into specific activities associated with particular units. In many cases it is possible to perform individual processes (repeated in each units) in alternative ways (modes). Regardless of the construction project procurement system, duration and cost are the key factors determining project’s economic efficiency and fulfillment of the owner’s needs and requirements. Minimizing project duration and cost are the most important criteria for schedule optimization. Processes that repeat from unit to unit are realized by specialized crews. Uninterrupted resource utilization becomes an extremely important issue for scheduling repetitive processes to minimize employment costs. In this paper, the problem of selecting appropriate modes and minimizing the total project cost and with a constraint on project duration is presented with respect to the continuity of the crews’ work. The paper uses the mixed integer linear programming to model this problem and uses a case study to illustrate it.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to assess the effectiveness of selected external sources of financing of enterprises in Poland and the influence of these decisions on the efficiency of their utilization both for the development of the enterprise as well as for the whole economy. In conclusion, the study carried out showed that, taking into account all the factors such as interest rates and the commitment period, credit, though not the cheapest solution, is the solution most accessible to the entrepreneur.
Celem artykułu jest ocena efektywności wybranych zewnętrznych źródeł finansowania przedsiębiorstw w Polsce oraz wpływu decyzji o wyborze źródeł finansowania na efektywność ich wykorzystania zarówno dla rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa, jak też całej gospodarki. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że – biorąc pod uwagę wszystkie czynniki, czyli stawki oprocentowania, okres zaciągnięcia zobowiązania – kredyt, choć nie jest rozwiązaniem najtańszym, jest rozwiązaniem najbardziej dostępnym z punktu widzenia przedsiębiorcy.
