Wnioski wynikające z tej pracy dotyczą tego, że pojęcia, którymi posłużył się McKenzie, opisując performans techniczny odwołując się do nowych technologii, zaaplikować można także do opisu technologii tradycyjnych. Poza tym, autorka podkreśla wagę badań terenowych – obserwacji uczestniczącej i pogłębionych wywiadów, przy opisywaniu różnych typów performansu. Ponadto ukazuje, że performans organizacyjny jest nierozerwalny z performansem technicznym.
The author shows different types of performances that main element is clay. She distinguishes the cultural, the technical-cultural and the organizational-technical performance. Above all, the author referring to and arrguing with the theory of performance by Jon McKenzie. Conclusions resulting from this work concern the fact that the concepts used by McKenzie describing a technical performance in relation to new technologies, can also be applied to the description of traditional technologies. In addition, the author emphasizes the importance of a field research – a participant observation and in-depth interviews describing different types of performance. In addition, the author shows that the organizational performance is connected to the technical performance.

Opis:: This paper, based on the results of a field research, presents an intercultural folklore festival, along with the world of cultural heritage and folkloristic traditions, as a dynamic and self-updating sociocultural construct, that despite the strong institacutionalization, mythologizing and hegemony still has a large potential for emancipation. This event is not entirely artifi cially created by widely understood experts, activists and leaders of folkloristic movement, according to presumed needs and preferences of festival audiences, but it is also an immanent reality, constantly being created by all participants. It is a metacommentary of contemporary folk actuality, constructed and negotiated in the course of interactions, activities and meaningful social practices which have highly performative character.

Opis:: The aim of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between the awareness of the acting of everyday performances by participants in court trials and the subsequent verdicts. The author discusses this issue on the example of the criminal trial of 1932. The author discusses this issue based on the example of the 1932 criminal trial of Zachariasz Drożyński in the case of the murder of the dancer Iga Korczyńska. She provides an analysis with a particular focus on the way in which lawyers and the defendant prepare and then act their social and professional roles; she also interprets the functions of the audience in the courtroom using performative, feminist and social interactionist theories. In the process, she also reveals the necessary moral contexts of the interwar period which significantly contributed to the outcome of the said cultural performance in the form of a mitigated sentence for the offender.

Passing through the cycle of life: birth, growth and death, it remains a digital record symbolising power, war, creation and destruction.

Opis:: Autor identyfikuje teoretyczne i społeczne konteksty koncepcji wielokulturowości oraz współczesnej jej krytyki. Celem artykułu jest wskazanie nowych koncepcji wielokulturowości, które uwzględniają wskazane zmiany paradygmatyczne i społeczne. Są to: koncepcja wielokulturowości – jako metaramy kultury różnicy ujawniającej się w spektaklach kulturowych oraz koncepcja wielokulturowości – jako faktu kulturowego negocjowanego w dyskursach potocznych.
The article indicates the theoretical and social contexts of the rise of multicultural theory and its contemporary critique. Recent problems with multiculturalism are associated with the simplification of that concept in public discourse, some relevant changes of modern societies as well as the changes in the scentific interpretation of the social world. Regardless of those changes, multiculturalism still remains a significant part of public discourse. The goal of the article is to show two new concepts of multiculturalism, which take into account the paradigmatic change in social sciences: the culture of difference as the supraframework which is reveaaled in cultural performances; and the multiculturalism as a cultural fact negotiated in public discourse.Keywords: multiculturalism, cultural performance, public discourseTranslated by Dariusz Wojakowski

Opis:: The corrida de toros, or bullfighting in the plaza de toros, belongs in Spain to the tauromachia tradition (from Greek tauros - bull, and mache - battle). According to the fairly numerous groups of opponents of the corrida, this tradition should be de-legalised instantly and unconditionally, but there are still enthusiasts who view the historical, tauromachic elements of Spanish culture, particularly the corrida, as a cultural good, an artistic preformance conveying special content. In the case of the corrida all the elements defining a performance can be detected: a specific place, a set time frame, a beginning and an end, an ordered course of action, a group of performers (the team of toreadors and the bull) and a public (the aficionados). If we ignore themost controversial moment of the play - the real death of the bull - in essence such elements as the stage sets, the actors, the costumes, the props, the gestures, the steps, the bows, the applause and the spectators bring the corrida de toros spectacle within the sphere of art.

Opis:: Performance is an occurrence commonly associated with theater, but that concept has a very broad context. Nowadays there are a lot of phenomena we can perceive this way, not just theatrical or quasi-theatrical. If we assume that the most important aspect in this field is „eventness”, almost everything could be called a performance. This specific type of phenomenon (also of aesthetic nature) can be divided into cultural performances, technological performances and organizational performances (source: J. McKenzie) or otherwise into cultural and language performances (source: M. Carlson). In the category of cultural performances we can enter a whole multiplicity of occurrences or events, including festivals, for which eventness, liminality, a kind of subversive or ritualization are an absolute necessity. From this point of view we can also consider our indigenous Polish Woodstock Festival, providing a lot reflections: cultural, social and also aesthetic. Assuming that this festival is a part of aesthetics of the performance, we can expect fulfillment of three functions mentioned by McKenzie: (1) self-reflection and social reflection, (2) presentation of alternatives and (3) possibility for maintenance or changes. It is worth to think about festival’s liminality and context to see how, during a couple of summer days, hundreds of thousands of people participate in one of the largest cultural performance.

Opis:: Transcultural and Transcorporal Neighbors: Japanese Performance Utopias in Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba and Phillip B. ZarrilliThis paper is mainly focused on the concept of transcultural bodily knowledge elaborated by Eugenio Barba and Nicola Savarese in their concept of theatre anthropology. Their research on pre-existent and pre-expressive values of the human movement, especially considering Asian theatre and performative practices, will be reexamined in the context of over-imposed interculturalism in Humanities and Social Studies. The focus will be thus put on the modifications of the bodily knowledge in this sense (Yuasa), as well as on the (re)appropriations of the Asian philosophical/theoretical embodiment schemes in the Western thought, not only from the standpoint of performative research made by Eugenio Barba and Phillip B. Zarrilli, but also from the standpoint of Shusterman’s pragmatic reinterpretations of Merleau-Ponty’s legacy, Schechner/Turner’s anthropology of human performativity, etc. In this context, the key idea of unique transcultural background of the human kinesis, employed mainly by Barba, will be put in an overall context of contemporary (trans)cultural utopism. The key element for interpretation will thus be an overall context of Asian martial arts practice, especially the significance of ‘iemoto principle’ (hereditary bodily technique) for the establishment of Grotowski’s, Barba’s and Zarrilli’s psychology and physiology of performance tactics. ZarrilliegoArtykuł skupia się głównie na pojęciu transkulturowej wiedzy cielesności, wypracowanym przez Eugenia Barbę i Nicolę Savaresego w ich ujęciu antropologii widowiska. Ich badania nad uprzednimi i przedekspresywnymi wartościami ruchu ludzkiego, zwłaszcza w kontekście teatru azjatyckiego i praktyk performatywnych, zostają wpisane w kontekst nadreprezentowanego w humanistyce i naukach społecznych interkulturalizmu. Uwaga autora skupia się na zmianach w wiedzy cielesnej w tym kierunku (Yuasa), jak też recepcji azjatyckich filozoficznych/teoretycznych schematów wcielania w myśli Zachodu, nie tylko z punktu widzenia badań performatywnych Barby i Zarrilliego, lecz również w Shustermanowych pragmatycznych reinterpretacjach myśli antropologii performatywności Merleau-Pontiego, Schechnera i Turnera itd. W tym kontekście kluczowa idea jednego transkulturowego podłoża ludzkiej kinesis, wykorzystywana głównie przez Barbę, jest wpisana w nowy kontekst współczesnego (trans)kulturowego utopizmu. Zasadniczym elementem interpretacji stają się azjatyckie sztuki walki, zwłaszcza znaczenie zadasy iemoto (dziedzicznej techniki cielesności) w ustanowieniu psychologii i fizjologii taktyk performatywnych u Grotowskiego, Barby i Zarrilliego.

Prześledzenie procesu kształtowania się dyscypliny na gruncie europejskim oraz polskim pokazuje jak wiele czynników społecznych i kulturowych ma wpływ na tę dyscyplinę sportową. Od wieku XIX analizuje i opisuje piłkę ręczną aż do współczesności. Dla autorki bardzo ważnym jest doświadczenie meczu, które ukazuje, że widowisko tworzy się poza bosikiem, a sam mecz jest charakterystycznym przedstawieniem.
In this master's thesis cultural performance is a teory which appoints an area of handball researches. The autor wants to present handball as a discipline, which was formed by sportingand cultural proceses. The autor invokes to european and polish history and tries to answer the question why handball is such comabtive and dangerous sport. The researches made in polish and european base are showing how many factors impact on sport.
