Opis:
This paper deals with fuel consumption estimations relating to container ships on the basis of ship service and wave parameters. Data, on which to base estimations, was measured and recorded from a container ship during 96 months at sea. Approximating functions were calculated by the use of curve fitting techniques and regression methods, utilizing newly developed software named ndCurveMaster. The approximation function presented in this paper could have practical application for the estimation of container ship fuel consumption, while considering weather routing. In addition the study clearly shows the relationship between the fuel consumption of a container ship and the number of months since its last docking. These results may form the basis for further research in this direction.

Opis:
Artificial materials including various kinds of polymers like polyurethanes are more and more widely used in different branches of science and also in biomedical engineering. The paper presents the process of creating a constitutive equation for a polyurethane nanocomposite which is considered to be hyper-elastic. The constitutive modelling was conducted within the range of application of the material as one of the components of lumbar intervertebral disc prosthesis. In the paper, the biomechanics of the lumbar spine and the most frequently applied intervertebral disc prostheses are described. Also a polyurethane nanocomposite as a new material to be applied in prostheses is presented. The way of formulating a constitutive equation by means of mathematical formulae is described. Four various hyper-elastic potential functions are considered, i.e., Ogden, Neo-Hookean, Yeoh and Mooney–Rivlin. On the basis of monotonic compression tests the best hyper-elastic model for the material considered was chosen and hyper-elastic constants were calibrated. Finally, the constitutive model was validated on the basis of FE analysis. The paper ends with a conclusion and presentation of further plans of research directed towards the development of a constitutive equation and its application in computer simulations by means of the finite element method.

Opis:
In the current study, thermodynamic dissolution of brigatinib in six pure solvents namely, water, ethanol, isopropyl myristate (IPM), poly(ethylene glycol)-400 (PEG-400), dichloromethane (DCM) and ethyl acetate (EA) at (298.2-323.2K) temperature and 0.1 MPa atm. pressure were carried out using flask shaking technique.The mole-fraction solubility of brigatinib was obtainedgreatest in IPM (6.09 x 10-2) and least in water (3.12 x 10-6) at298.2 K.Experimentally obtained solubilities values of brigatinib were regressed using adapted Apelblat equation with root mean square deviations in the range of 1.91 to 4.67 in all solvents and similar trends were observed with increased the temperature. The solubility data generated in this investigation could be helpful for investigator for analysis/dosage form development of brigatinib.

Opis:
This paper presents a voltammetric segmented voltage sweep mode that can be used to identify and measure heavy metals' concentrations. The proposed sweep mode covers a set of voltage ranges that are centered around the redox potentials of the metals that are under analysis. The heavy metal measurement system can take advantage of the historical database of measurements to identify the metals with higher concentrations in a given geographical area, and perform a segmented sweep around predefined voltage ranges or, alternatively, the system can perform a fast linear voltage sweep to identify the voltammetric current peaks and then perform a segmented voltage sweep around the set of voltages that are associated with the voltammetric current peaks. The paper also includes the presentation of two auto-calibration modes that can be used to improve system's reliability and proposes the usage of a Gaussian curve fitting of voltammetric data to identify heavy metals and to evaluate their concentrations. Several simulation and experimental results, that validate the theoretical expectations, are also presented in the paper.

In this paper, the general forms of in-plane fields of a finite cracked plate have been achieved in the elastic range by expanding the potential functions of the infinite cracked plate about the crack tip. Subsequently, the stress intensity at the crack tip has been obtained. In addition, the numerical models have been provided by the finite element method.The effect of finite sizes on the stress and displacement fields has been detected and to validate the obtained analytical relations, the least-squares curve fitting has been used. Moreover, the calculated stress intensity correction factors have been compared with the existing results in the literature.

Brain aneurysms often prove fatal if ruptured, therefore, understanding their mechanical behaviour in the coupled system of vessels and blood flow can significantly help preventive surgical treatment. The purpose of this work was to analyse measurement data and to determine material parameters for the hyperelastic Mooney–Rivlin model for model building and numerical simulations of aneurysms. Methods: A total of 88 human brain aneurysm specimens of 41 patients obtained from surgery were processed in this work based on the tests performed by the authors in a previous project. A novel algorithm was proposed and applied in this work to fit stress–stretch ratio curves for multiple measurement data using constrained optimization with hard conditions to comply with known mechanical behaviour. Results: The method produced parameters of stretch ratio–stress curves for a number of groups of the specimens representing the average as well as the extreme stresses, separately for male and female subsamples. Stretch range both in compression and in tension up to rupture was covered and material stability for the entire range was also verified. Conclusions: The fitted curves with recommended range of validity are directly applicable to numerical finite element or coupled simulations of aneurysms supporting preventive medical treatment or decision making.

Badanie koncentruje się na roli nadopiekuńczości rodziców w formowaniu zależnej osobowości u dzieci. Skupia uwagę na trzech określonych błędach wychowawczych: idealizacji, zastępowaniu i uleganiu. Celem badania było zrozumienie, jak te specyficzne zachowania rodzicielskie wpływają na rozwój cechy osobowości znanej jako pasywność (beta minus), która charakteryzuje się wysokim poziomem neurotyzmu, niską ekstrawersją i zamknięciem na doświadczenia. Analiza opierała się na badaniu retrospektywnym przeprowadzonym na grupie 402 kobiet w wieku średnio 34 lat. Respondentki odpowiadały na pytania dotyczące wychowawczych błędów swoich rodziców oraz własnych cech osobowości. Odkrycia wskazują, że kobiety, które w dzieciństwie doświadczyły wyżej wymienionych błędów wychowawczych ze strony rodziców, jako dorosłe prezentują silniejsze cechy pasywności (beta minus), co jest typowe dla osobowości zależnej. Dane empiryczne potwierdzają teoretyczne przypuszczenia, że dzieci wychowywane w nadopiekuńczych warunkach częściej rozwijają zależne cechy osobowości.
This study focuses on the role of overprotective parents in the formation of a dependent personality in children, focusing on three specific parenting errors: idealization, substitution, and compliance. The aim of the study was to understand how these specific parenting behaviors affect the development of a personality trait known as Passivity (Beta minus), which is characterized by high levels of neuroticism, low extraversion, and closure to experience. The analysis was based on a retrospective study conducted on a group of 402 women with an average age of 34. The respondents answered questions about the parenting errors of their parents and their own personality traits. The findings indicate that women who experienced the above-mentioned parenting errors from their parents in childhood, as adults, present stronger Passivity (Beta minus) traits, which is typical of a dependent personality. The empirical data support the theoretical assumptions that children raised in overprotective conditions are more likely to develop dependent personality traits.
