Opis:: The last decade of the 20th century marked a turning-point in the development of Polish contemporary dance. In 1991, Jacek Luminski established the Silesian Dance Theatre in Bytom.The theatre is said to have been the avant-garde of all activities around contemporary dance in Poland. It was J. Luminski and his theatre that set new trends in contemporary dance of the early 1990s, at the same time having fulfilled educational purposes for the last twenty years. The aim of this article is to present the artistic and educational activity of the Silesian Dance Theatre of the last twenty years. It first presents a choreographic portrait of J. Luminski, founder and choreographer of the Silesian Dance Theatre, the creator of the Polish contemporary dance technique. Then, this paper analyses Luminski’s dance style and reviews the Silesian Dance Theatre’s choreographic achievements. The final part of the article discusses a wide spectrum of educational activities undertaken in the field of contemporary professional dance by the Silesian Dance Theatre, and the phenomenon of theatre on the Polish stage.

Opis:: The fi nal decade of the 20th century was the turning-point for the development of Polish contemporary dance. In 1991 Jacek Łumiński established the Silesian Dance Theatre in Bytom. The theatre is said to be in the avant-garde of all activities related to contemporary dance development in Poland. It was J. Łumiński and his theatre who pioneered new trends in contemporary dance at the beginning of the nineties of the 20th century, at the same time they have conducted educational activity over the intervening twenty years.The aim of this article is to present the artistic and educational activity of the Silesian Dance Theatre of the recent twenty years. In the beginning the author presents a choreographic por-trait of J. Łumiński, the founder and choreographer of the Silesian Dance Theatre, and creator of the Polish contemporary dance technique. Then an analysis of J. Łumiński’s dance style is car-ried out, and the review of the Silesian Dance Theatre’s choreographic attainments is presented.The fi nal part of the article discusses the wide spectrum of educational activities under-taken in the fi eld of contemporary professional dance by theSilesian Dance Theatre, and the phenomenon of the theatre on the Polish stage.

Opis:: Cel. Celem badawczym opracowania jest ukazanie wybranych kontekstów edukacji dzieci i młodzieży w szkole baletowej oraz zwrócenie uwagi na wielopłaszczyznowe postrzeganie zawodu tancerza na gruncie literatury przedmiotu. Złożoność procesu edukacji w zawodzie tancerza klasycznego pozwala na nabycie kompetencji do łączenia intensywnego treningu ciała z kształtowaniem wrażliwości estetycznej oraz szeroko rozumianych kompetencji poznawczych. Zawód tancerza ma elitarny charakter, wymaga specjalnych predyspozycji zarówno fizycznych, jak i psychicznych. Tancerz powinien mieć kompetencje w czterech kategoriach: merytoryczne, praktyczne, artystyczne oraz psychofizyczne. Metody i materiały. Autorki zgromadziły materiał poprzez ewidencję empiryczną (Malewski, 2017), czyli uczestnictwo w życiu badanej społeczności. Na bazie obserwacji autorki przystąpiły do teoretycznych interpretacji, co w metodologii teorii ugruntowanej nazywa się teoretyzowaniem (Malewski, 2017). Sprawozdaniem z badań są wnioski przedstawione poniżej. Wnioski. Wśród problemów szczegółowych poruszanych w tekście autorki omawiają: specyfikę zawodu tancerza, sylwetkę i kompetencje tancerza baletowego, jego ścieżkę edukacyjną oraz codzienność adeptów sztuki tanecznej. Autorki uważają, że publikacje podejmujące zagadnienie kształcenia baletowego dzieci i młodzieży nie wyczerpują tematu lub są już nieaktualne. Zwracają też uwagę, że podczas przygotowania do zawodu tancerza baletowego nie weryfikuje się uczniów pod kątem specjalizacji, a szkolnictwo artystyczne w Polsce boryka się z licznymi problemami, takimi jak np. niewielki nabór do szkół czy warunki lokalowe.

The authors collected material through empirical evidence (Malewski, 2017), i.e., participation in the life of the studied community. Based on observations, the authors made theoretical interpretations, which in the grounded theory methodology is called theorizing (Malewski, 2017). The research report consists of the conclusions presented below. Conclusion. Among the detailed problems discussed in the text, the authors discuss: the specificity of the dancer’s profession, the profile and competences of a ballet dancer, the educational path of a ballet dancer, and the everyday life of dance students. The authors believe that publications on ballet education for children and young people do not exhaust the topic or are no longer up to date. The authors point out that the preparation of a ballet dancer does not verify students’ specialization in the profession of a dancer, and artistic education in Poland is struggling with numerous problems, such as low recruitment to schools, or housing conditions.

Tytuł:: The role of folk dance in education on the example of Tatra highlanders’ dance.
Rola tańca regionalnego w edukacji na przykładzie tańca Górali Podhalańskich

Opis:: The main aim of my thesis is to provide information about educational aspects of folk dance. It is presented on the basis of the dance of Tatra highlanders. Dance has been accompanying humans since the beginning of the world. It fulfills an important role in children’s development and upbringing. The first chapter provides a general overview on the history of dance and its function in community lives over the centuries. The main aim of the second chapter is to show the context of dance education. In the third chapter, it is outlined the significance of learning folk dance, first of all in terms of the influence on personality and people’s behaviour. Moreover, dance of Tatra highlanders is described in this part. It is paid special attention to the role of folk bands in the propagation and preservation of folk culture. The final part of my thesis is a description of my own research in terms of folk dance and its role. Despite the variety of dance styles, folk dance is of great value, because it is an essential part of our national heritage.
Niniejsza praca dotyczy ukazania edukacyjnych aspektów tańca ludowego na przykładzie tańca górali podhalańskich. Od lat znane jest ogromne zamiłowanie ludzi do tańca, który wstępował we wszystkich aspektach życia społeczności. Pomimo współczesnej różnorodności stylów tanecznych, taniec ludowy posiada wyjątkową wartość. Stanowi on bowiem ważny element niematerialnego dziedzictwa, a także posiada istotne znaczenie wychowawcze. W pierwszym rozdziale została przybliżona antropologia tańca oraz jego funkcjonowanie na przestrzeni wieków. Istotną częścią tego rozdziału jest próba zdefiniowanie zjawiska tańca. W drugim rozdziale został nakreślony zarys historii tańca w wychowaniu oraz jego pozycja w edukacji artystycznej. Trzeci rozdział dotyczy tańca ludowego ze szczególnym naciskiem na jego funkcjonowanie w środowisku oraz znaczenie wychowawcze. Ponadto, opisany został taniec górali podhalańskich oraz rola zespołów folklorystycznych w upowszechnianiu tradycji tanecznych. W końcowej części pracy opisana została metodologia badań własnych, ich analiza i interpretacja.

Praca magisterska składa się z części teoretycznej, która jest bardziej obszerna i empirycznej, która stanowi część badawczą. Ostatni rozdział ma charakter badawczy. Badania zostały przeprowadzone wśród osób, które żyją baletem, związały swoje życie z tańcem klasycznym już jakiś czas temu ale również badaniom została poddana osoba, która nie tylko była kiedyś uczniem szkoły baletowej, ale również naucza innych w teraźniejszości tego rzemiosła. Wyniki badań uświadamiają, jak znacząca jest wychowawcza funkcja baletu, nie tylko w opinii nauczycieli, ale również samych uczniów, jakiego wielkiego wysiłku i poświęceń wymaga taniec klasyczny.
The thesis is dedicated to the phenomenon of ballet – classical dance and it’s impacton dancer personality. It’s aim is trying to present the impact of ballet schools classes on the formation of personality of the students. Showing how implement the function of education in ballet schools, as example there is the opinion of some students of ballet schools. In this thesis is presented the concept of education of the personality, which i san integral part of pedagogy, as a science.Master’s thesis consists of a theoretical part, which is more comprehensive and empirical than the research part. The last part of this thesis is research part. This research was conducted among people who live in world of ballet, tied their life with classical dance some time ago. There is also opinion of some person, who teaches other persons how to dance.The research results make us realize how significant is the educational function of the ballet, not only in the opinion of teachers, but also in the opinion of students, what a great effort and sacrifice required classical dance.

Rozwój sztuki i edukacji tanecznej w ostatnich latach na przykładzie Instytutu Muzyki i Tańca w Warszawie

Opis:: The concept of master were dedicated to reveal multilevel evolution of art and dance education through years in Poland. The aim was to create and broach a form of education and historical impact on this kind of art. Master thesis was about to recognize elementary significance of culture in our society as well as in human being existence. There were made comparison between Poland and abroad centers together with relevation of principles functions of those places. After theoretical base which suppose to show the evolution of dance education (chapter 1-2), it was being made a research on local opinions about Music and Dance Institute in Varsaw by carrying out surveys. Those researches enable to take out objective estimations about running Institute, the mission is about to represent and support which they are offering to dancers. Additionally in comparison to those organizations which are planned to be built in near future in Poland. There was made an effort to distinguish all aspects of running Institute goals they want to achieve and tasks they want to implement. The expectations of dancers were being taking into account mostly. It was precise primary such elements as cultural politics of various countries, motifs in procedures, role of dance in dancer's future and ambivalence of culture concept in modern society. For better understanding those tasks the surveys were being made among local dance environment. It give us opportunity to verify problems being shown in written material and enable author to experience a real perception of functions those type of centers.
Praca została poświęcona problemowi rozwoju sztuki i edukacji tanecznej na przełomie ostatnich lat w Polsce. Próbowano przedstawić jak kształtowała się edukacja i jak wpływ miała historia na rozwój tej sztuki. Przedstawiono elementarne znaczenie kultury w społeczeństwie i życiu współczesnego człowieka. Przeanalizowano role ośrodków artystycznych oraz dokonano zestawień porównawczych w Polsce i za granicą. Po ukazaniu teoretycznych podstaw dotyczących rozwoju edukacji tanecznej (rozdziały I,II) zbadano opinie środowiskową na temat funkcjonowania Instytutu Muzyki i Tańca w Warszawie na podstawie przeprowadzonych ankiet (rozdział IV). Badania pozwoliły na obiektywną oceny oraz wyciągnięcie wniosków dotyczących funkcjonowania Instytucji oraz podobnych organizacji, które powstaną w Polsce. Starano się na dostrzeżenie wszelkich aspektów dotyczących prosperowania Instytutu, aspektów dotyczących pomocy i wspierania tancerzy. Największy nacisk położono na kwestie oczekiwań tancerzy w stosunku do placówek wspierających taniec. Wyszczególnione zostały takie elementy jak polityka kulturalna, motywy postawania organizacji wspierających taniec, rola tańca w życiu tancerza, ambiwalencja pojęcia sztuki tanecznej we współczesnej kulturze. Dla dokładniejszego zrozumienia problematyki zbadano Instytut Muzyki i Tańca na podstawie ankiet dostarczonych lokalnemu środowisku tanecznemu. Dzięki temu można było dokonać weryfikacji przedstawianych w pracy problemów badawczych, a autorka mogła doświadczyć prawdziwego postrzegania i funkcjonowania tego typu ośrodków.

Tytuł:: System kształcenia artystów baletu w Polsce
System of ballet artists education

Opis:: The main topic of this work is a system of ballet dancers’ education, which is presented from the beginning of ballet in Poland, until today. It shows how public and private schools work. It also gives information about universities and cultural organizations connected with ballet and modern dance in Poland and chosen countries in Europe. The main problem is that professional dancers in our country, do not have possibility to change their jobs and do something else for living, apart from dancing, because they usually gain education only in dancing. There also should be an opportunity to get a public diploma in dancing, for modern, not only classical dancers. The problems of professional dancers’ work was widely discussed on the first Dance Congress in Warsaw, in 2011. Reports from the congress is a good resource of knowledge about today’s situation in dance. While doing changes, people in Poland should look for inspiration in other, better organized countries.
Przedmiotem pracy jest system kształcenia artystów baletu, przedstawiony od pojawienia się tej sztuki w Polsce, aż do sytuacji obecnej. Pokazane zostało funkcjonowanie publicznych i niepublicznych szkół baletowych, kierunki studiów z dziedziny tańca oraz edukacja w zakresie tańca współczesnego, a także działalność instytucji kultury wspierających taniec. Opisany również został system kształcenia tancerzy zawodowych w wybranych krajach Europy. Głównym problemem, jaki się pojawia w pracy jest reorientacja zawodowa profesjonalnych tancerzy i dostosowanie organizacji szkolnictwa artystycznego w zakresie tańca do zmieniającego się prawa, oraz specyfiki pracy artystów baletu. Konieczne jest stworzenie systemu umożliwiającego przekwalifikowanie tancerzy, po zakończonej karierze scenicznej, a także stworzenie możliwości uzyskania uprawnień przez artystów, zajmujących się tańcem współczesnym. Do dyskusji na ten temat, bardzo wiele wniósł I Kongres Tańca w 2011 roku, z którego raporty posłużyły jako materiały do pracy. Przy dokonywaniu wszelkich zmian, należy się wzorować na dobrych rozwiązaniach użytych w innych krajach.

Opis:: The following work concerns artistic education in primary school. In the first part definitions related to the understanding of cultural education with the specific emphasis on art education are presented. The issue is also illustrated with examples of art, musical and dance education. The two following chapters describe the legal aspect of artistic education and its place in the core curriculum. The last part contains the results of research done by the author among primary school Related Arts teachers and among students of grades 4 to 8 together with their analysis focused on the view of artistic education in primary school.
Niniejsza praca dotyczy edukacji artystycznej w szkole podstawowej. W pierwszej części zostały przedstawione definicje ukazujące rozumienie edukacji kulturalnej, ze skierowaniem szczególnej uwagi na edukację artystyczną. Zagadnienie zostało również zobrazowane przykładami edukacji: plastycznej, muzycznej i tanecznej. W dwóch kolejnych rozdziałach opisano aspekt prawny edukacji artystycznej oraz omówiono jej miejsce w podstawie programowej. W ostatniej części zawarto wyniki badań zebranych przez autorkę wśród nauczycieli przedmiotów artystycznych w szkole podstawowej oraz uczniów klas 4 - 8 oraz ich analizę pod kątem obrazu edukacji artystycznej w szkole podstawowej.

It aims to present and analyze the factors that affect the functioning of the school. The most important elements of the thesis are described in chapters on: needs, services and trainees and subsections on the activities of the company, among which should be distinguished: mission, the concept of the marketing-mix, the importance of suppliers, substitutes and buyers and socio-cultural factors in the macro-environment. As part of the thesis has been conducted an interview with Piotr Hamryszak, the co-owner Twins Steps Dance School and representatives of dance groups who learn in it. On this basis it can be said that the objectives and assumptions of the owners coincide with rating, feelings and needs of customers.
