Opis:
A discrete system performing transport tasks (carriage of goods between the starting and ending points) using the vehicles of limited capacity and reliability is analyzed. The quality of transport tasks depend on the availability of transportation means (cars, roads, etc.), their functional properties (services) and reliability (faults and renewals) and of the system organization (dispatchers / system managers). Unfriendly system events affecting the realization of transport tasks are classified. A dependability model of the discrete transport system is considered as an unreliable service network. Outlined the idea of a maintenance policy system and a problem of synthesis of the discrete transport system.

In the tutorial paper systems and networks are considered as a union of all their resources essential for the realization of predicted tasks. System dependability is discussed with respect to the occurrence of incidents and treats that may cause damage to the system resources and, in consequence, to the executed tasks. The maintenance policy system is based on two main concepts: detection of unfriendly events and system responses to them. It is proposed to analyse the network system from the functional and user point of view, focusing on business service realized by a network system. Services networks are modelled as the Petri net models which may be useful for analyses of dependability parameters and for setting up a maintenance policy of the services net.

The paper presents a novel approach to system dependability problem. The analysed systems and networks – characterised by different sets of features – are considered as a union of all their resources essential for the predicted tasks realisation. The system dependability is discussed with respect to the occurrence of incidents and treats that may cause to damage the system resources and – in consequence – to the collapse of the executed tasks. The maintenance policy system is based on two main concepts: detection of unfriendly events and system responses to them. The proposed analysis is realised from the user’s point of view, focusing on functional features described by business services available in the system.

The paper present the various aspects of the process of testing of the ERP system’s dependability .This process has been systematized using the procedures taken from the Polish Standards and adopted for purposes of the ERP system. Thanks to an introduction of same normalization and the unification of terminology, the testing of the systems dependability under different conditions, as well as for different systems, will be possible. A review of MS Axapta system in relation to the dependability of the functioning of its particular elements, has also been carried out. This was based on previously presented instructions of the dependability test.

Opis:
The paper proposes a method of reliability and functional analysis related to discrete transport systems. The proposed analysis is based on modelling and simulating of the system behaviour. Monte Carlo simulation is used for proper reliability and functional parameters calculation. The simulator is built using Scalable Simulation Framework (SSF). No restriction on the system structure and on a kind of distribution is the main advantage of the method. The paper presents some exemplar system modelling. The authors stress the problem of influence of the reliability parameters for final functional measures (required time of delivery) – the key value to calculate the availability of the system. They also propose to measure the economic quality of discrete transport system by “profit function”. The presented problem is practically essential for defining an organization of vehicle maintenance and transportation system logistics.

Opis:
The subject of this paper deals with dependability of machine systems base on selected usable characteristics. In the subsystem man-machine and environment, determined tasks are carried out. The sequence of activity is following: man handles machine, which in turn makes the environment deliver desired reaction, e.g. processing or transportation. A machine and desired reaction of environment will recognize the positive effect of above activities as carrying out of set task. It is also of utmost importance that the man and machine's impact on environment is efficient and harmless. Therefore the selection of an adequate machine and its operator to carry out the given task is crucial. The circumstances considered as undesired for task implementation are identified as hazard to man and machine. Within the endangered man - machine and environment subsystem, we can distinguish following phases in the machine degradation process: worthy, partially worthy, partially unworthy, critically unworthy and totally unworthy. The selection of adequate means towards achieving set goals is considered important, and, subsequently, the description of selected machine and human (as operator and decision maker) attributes has been undertaken. The basic attributes of man and machine complex are: adequacy, dependability, safety, durability and effectiveness. Adequacy, described as common machine property, turns out to be a collection of four attributes: functionality, configurability, coverage, and programmability. Reliability, on closer inspection, as a combined property of man -machine complex, is described by four attributes: reliability, redundancy, faultlessness and availability. Safety, as a man - machine - environment property is described by a collection of five attributes: protectionability, hazardousness, harmlessness, safeguardability and deleteriousness. Durability as a machine property can be described by five attributes: strength, refractoriness, maintainability, supportability and serviceability. Effectiveness as a man - machine system property is described by four attributes: efficiency, capability, economically and managementability. It is acceptable to assume that the attributes mentioned above can be of use when selecting machines for outdoor exploitation and facilitating of selected tasks. Particular significance is in the relations between basic attributes of the man - machine - environment subsystem, namely: dependability is the starting point for safety and effectiveness, durability assures dependability, safety and effectiveness, adequacy guarantees a successful outcome of all named attributes of man - machine system.

The paper presents a strategy for achieving high dependability of a computer-based system devoted to endoscopic examination (ERS). Two levels of replication are used: hardware (3 computers) and database (redundant copies). Archivisation of documents describing patient examinations and films made during such examinations is described. The influence of the used techniques on performance and dependability of the replicated system is estimated.

Opis:
The paper presents a method of analyzing dependability aspects of service oriented information systems based on functional and dependability modelling. Analysis approach is based on integrating different computer system models into one coherent model suitable for simulation. To simplify integration of the models author propose an automatic solution that is integrated with the tools chosen for system analysis. Analysis is done with a usage of open-source simulation environment that can be easily modified and extended for farther work. Based on the simulation results, with respect to defined dependability and functionality metrics, some alternatives can be chosen in case of system or service failure. The paper presents developed software which implements described methodology and results of analysis for an exemplary business service oriented complex information system.

In today's automotive industry, companies are organized into simultaneous engineering teams to develop their new products. The new way of doing business enables some companies to develop their new products quicker and cheaper with higher quality and reliability. In the past few years there has been the tendency to increase the safety of vehicles by introducing intelligent assistance systems that help the driver to cope with critical driving situations. These functions are characterized by the active control of the driving dynamics by distributed assistance systems, which therefore need a reliable communication network. The faults in the electronic components, which control these functions, are safety-critical. However, the assistance functions deliver only an add-on service in accordance with a fail-safe strategy for the electronic components. If there is any doubt about the correct behaviour of the assistance system, it will be switched off. For by-wire systems, without a mechanical back-up, a new dimension of safety requirements for automotive electronics is reached. After a fault the system has to be fail-tolerant until a safe state is reached. realizing that road vehicles, mostly commercial vehicles taking part over proportionally in accidents, become more and more complex indicates that suitable and adaptable analysis methods are crucial to be applied with appropriate certification body.

Opis:
The paper presents an approach to complex analysis of sophisticated Discrete Transport Systems (DTS) using softcomputing. The proposed methodology can efficiently substitute the classical approach especially since dependability parameters of the system are mostly approximated by experts instead of classical sources of data. On the other hand we can try to combine reliability and functional aspects. The paper describes the multicriteria scientific field of the Discrete Transport Systems and shows the way how the softcomputing can be in use in the sensible way. Moreover, results of the numerical experiment performed on a test case scenario related to the reliability and functional aspects using proposed methodology are given. The approach allows reducing the problem of assumptions of reliability distributions and – this way – seems to be very interesting for real systems management and tuning.
