Opis:: In this paper, a new method for the reduction of the descriptor linear systems to standards ones is presented and verified. The method uses a state and/or state derivative feedback of output and output derivative feedback in order to transform the descriptor system into a standard one. The controllability and observability properties of the original descriptor as well as transformed standard systems are proved. Simple numerical examples illustrate the theorems introduced.

Opis:: The positivity and asymptotic stability of the descriptor time-varying discrete-time linear systems are addressed. The Weierstrass-Kronecker theorem on the decomposition of the regular pencil is extended to the time-varying discrete-time descriptor linear systems. Using the extension necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of the systems are established. Sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability of the positive systems are presented. The effectiveness of the tests is demonstrated on the example.

Opis:: We establish a unified approach to stability analysis for switched linear descriptor systems under arbitrary switching in both continuous-time and discrete-time domains. The approach is based on common quadratic Lyapunov functions incorporated with linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). We show that if there is a common quadratic Lyapunov function for the stability of all subsystems, then the switched system is stable under arbitrary switching. The analysis results are natural extensions of the existing results for switched linear state space systems.

Opis:: The positivity of descriptor continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems with regular pencils are addressed. Such systems can be reduced to standard linear systems and can be decomposed into dynamical and static parts. Two definitions of the positive systems are proposed. It is shown that the definitions are not equivalent. Conditions for the positivity of the systems and the relationship between two classes of positive systems are established. The considerations are illustrated by examples of electrical circuits and numerical examples.

Opis:: A method for computation of positive asymptotically stable realizations of fractional descriptor continuous-time linear systems with regular pencil is proposed. The method is based on the decomposition of the improper transfer matrix into strictly proper matrix and a polynomial matrix. Opis:: Necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of descriptor continuous-time and discrete-time linear systems are established. The shuffle algorithm is applied to transform the state equations of the descriptor systems to their equivalent form for which necessary and sufficient conditions for their positivity have been derived. A procedure for checking the positivity of the descriptor systems is proposed and illustrated by numerical examples.
