Opis:: This paper aims at the analysis of discursive approaches to moral crisis experienced by post-communist societies. The crisis itself is conceptualized as a turning point, a bifurcation moment that opens a way to its overcoming. Which way will be followed depends on the discursive resources with which society faces the crisis: whether they have a catastrophic, or promethean character. An example of promethean discourses presented those, which were developed in Poland at the end of 1990s: the discourses of solidarity and universal human rights protection.

Opis:: The text serves as an attempt to summarise the analysis of public discourse which is a part of the research project which considered value of higher academic education in collective consciousness in Polish society. In the analysis of the collected empirical material, methodological directives of qualitative discourse analysis were applied. Main problem presented in the article are topoi that occur both in social and media discourse. It tries to answer the questions why are some ways of speaking about higher education more valid and sustainable than others and what are consequences of such an “use of language” for academic and non-academic worlds.

Opis:: Into the Noise… to zbiór esejów autorstwa Aleksandry Kunce i Marii Popczyk. Są one poprzedzone wstępem napisanym przez Marię Korusiewicz, który porusza problematykę estetyki codzienności, stanowiącej przeciwwagę dla dyskursów instytucjonalnych. Rozważania autorek są efektem antropologicznych i estetycznych eksploracji przestrzeni publicznej. Autorki analizują dyskursy, które nadają kształt wspólnotom przestrzennym. W centrum uwagi znalazły się problemy opisu antropologii punktów, perspektyw antropologii integralnej, instytucji uniwersytetu, tożsamości europejskiej, figur zdziwienia i humanistyki, a także zakorzenienia epistemologicznego. Kluczowe są rozważania estetyczne dotyczące miejsca dzieła sztuki w przestrzeniach publicznych miast (na przykładzie Berlina) oraz zorganizowanych instytucjonalnie wystawach muzealnych. Autorki analizują działania artystyczne będące rodzajem dialogu z zasadami organizacji przestrzeni publicznej. Estetyka jest tu pojmowana jako dziedzina krytyczna nawiązująca do osiągnięć nowej muzeologii i kultury wizualnej, a nie jako filozofia sztuki. Perspektywa antropologiczna i estetyczna uzupełniają się, oświetlając z odmiennych punktów widzenia debaty toczone na temat przestrzeni publicznej.

Opis:: Recent studies on socio-spatial polarization and post-socialist spaces increasingly propose the use of postcolonial theory. Following this proposal, the paper attempts to make the decolonial approach fruitful for studying the crucial role that discourses play for rural peripheralisation processes in post-socialist Estonia. It shows that the Estonian discourses on peripheries manifest in a struggle between neoliberalism and interventionism as two competing regional development models that promote either self- or state responsibility for dealing with peripheralisation. Despite their differences, both models build on the same notion of modernity, as the colonial history associated with socialist modernity renders alternative models obsolete.

Opis:: The paper analyses changes in the educational approach towards the disabled illustrated with an example of integrative and inclusive education as well as shows differences and similarities between them. The analysis is completed with a picture of versions of non-segregation education resulting from various educational discourses. Due to a social aspect of the activities comprised by integrative and exclusive teaching the analysed forms of education were treated as a kind of intervention into the process of socialization. The aim of such an intervention is to develop activity competence with pupils and to prepare young generation for accepting people’s differences, mutual coexistence, dialogue and cooperation. The author tries to stress, that the analysed forms of the non-segregation education should in practice be treated as complementary and not as exclusive. Implementation of the concepts of inclusive education, as a direction of the postulated changes in education, which is a result of the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, requires changes in all directions. They refer to, among other things: legal regulations ensuring implementation of standards related to organization and offering classes promoting development of pupils with disabilities, changes in the training system of teachers and preparing them for work with pupils with individual educational and developmental needs.

Opis:: Metaphors of “coldness“ have increased dramatically in our present time, as evidenced by the three texts to be examined. The two novels Unter Schnee (2001) and Kältere Schichten der Luft (2007) by Antje Rávic Strubel focus on (or: are concerned with) lesbian relationships and the unfulfilled dreams through ties between the sexes. The novel Vogelweide (2013) by Uwe Timm runs through various heterosexual couple-constellations, for which the author utilizes the foil of Goethe’s Affective Affinities. He is con-scious of the fact that the traditional marriage has lost its status as a role model. All characters in the novel are searching for a new “language of love,” but in their pursuit they relapse to those clichés, which they sought to escape. ‘Heat’ and ‘coldness’ turn out to be metaphors that have become obsolete a long time ago. They now produce dichotomies and narrow the love-discourse to meteorological sensibilities. The strong presence of sensations of coldness in all three novels nevertheless is still revealing. It can be read as a Symptom – to stay with the metaphors of the texts – for a ‘cooling-down’ of the relationship between the sexes.

Opis:: Scholaris is a portal of MEN agenda with educational electronic resources designated for teachers of all stages of education. The aim of the research was to identify the promoted model of digital early childhood education. An analysis of the content of portal showed a focus on technology being used to illustrate the content covered by the teaching program, limitation of openness to other communities and places on the internet, negligence of the communication between education entities and the hegemony of digital content for the teacher to reproduce. The digitality on the portal is seen as a visual-sound enhancement of classes and the technical facilitation of the teacher’s work. In spite of the current innovative trends, the general model promoted on the website is seen as functional-behavioral.

Opis:: This article explores various forms of self-presentation of the hetman on the path of self-knowledge in the conditions of hopelessness caused by emigration. Pylyp Orlyk’s handwritten diary of 1725, 1726, and 1727 is dominated by motives of accustoming to emigration conditions, protection of privacy, discourses, illness and recovery, friendship, solitude with reading, and finally, more clearly than before, the self-awareness of the soul. “Peregrine”, as Orlyk calls himself in 1727, after eighteen years of emigration. He orders two or three services at once for the children on their birthdays, for the health of his wife Anna of the Hercyk family. Orlyk visits all the churches in Thessaloniki, is a good Christian, but nowhere emphasizes his denomination. He believes in the power of praying for the health of his family and friends. Sincere prayer becomes medicine. One of the described disasters of that time is perceived today in a very modern way - “bad air”. This euphemism is repeated in the manuscript when it comes to the plague pandemic in Thessaloniki, Smyrna, Istanbul.
