Opis:
A computer - aided design system for electromagnetic device is presented. The system has been adopted for the design of the middle-power three-phase transformers. The elaborated system consists of (1) computer application aiding the design and discretization process and (2) a module for presentation of the results of calculation and design process. The results of calculations may be presented in a textual or graphic form. The AutoCAD program is used for the graphic presentation.

Opis:
Finite Element Method (FEM) called Finite Element Analysis is a tool for computer-aided engineering and analysis. It is used to solve problems related to changes in the geometry of the structure as a result of external factors. FEM is used to model engineering processes where real objects are converted to discrete models. Finite Element Method uses a method of obtaining approximate solutions by approximation of partial differential equations. The process of testing and mathematical computation model is described by the equations function of the position and time for the nodes. The development of individual models and their groups and definitions of boundary conditions are carried out using computer programs for FEM.

Opis:
A new numerical model of gas filtration in a porous medium is proposed and investigated. Gas filtration is modeled with a nonlinear differential equation in partial derivatives. Methods of solving the equation are discussed. A computer experiment basing on real-experiment-extracted input physical and geometrical parameters is performed and its results are analyzed. The received results agree well with the corresponding experimental data.

Opis:
The paper reports results of an analysis concerning the infuence of a computational domain discretization method on the numerical stability of a model as well as the calculation error. The topology of a packed bed of a granular material consisting of granules contacting tangentially in one point makes the modeling of heat and mass transfer due to the fluid flow in such a domain a chalenging task. Therefore, the contribution of this paper constitutes a summary of discretization methods with discussion and guidelines allowing one to effectively select the most favourable method dedicated to discretization of the domain. The validation using Particle Image Velocimetry and evaluation of the impact of inflow velocity on the experimental and numerical research results are also presented in the paper.

Opis:
We analyze regularizations of a class of linear-quadratic optimal control problems with control appearing linearly. It is shown that if the optimal control is bang-bang or if a coercivity condition for the state variables is satisfied, the solutions are continuous functions of the regularization parameter. Combining error estimates for Euler discretizations of the regularized problems with those for the regularization error, we choose the regularization parameter in dependence of the meshsize to obtain optimal convergence rates for the discrete solutions. Numerical experiments confirm the theoretical findings.

The entropy H of a continuous distribution with probability density function f* is defined as a function of the number of nodes (n) in a one-dimensional scalar random field. For the second order theory this entropy is expressed by the determinants of the covariance matrices and simulated for several types of correlation functions. In the numerical example the propagation of the entropy for the static response of linear elastic, randomly loaded beam has been considered. Two unexpected results have been observed: - function H(n) is entirely different for differentiable (m.s.) and non-differentiable fields, with the same parameters in the correlation functions, - in some cases, the greater randomness at the input (measured by the entropy) does not lead to the greater randomness at the output.

Opis:
The paper presents one-dimensional discrete-continuous model of power spectrum estimation of the acoustic emission signal, that allows filtering the oscillating components of the acoustic emission signals. The mathematical formalism describing the environment was discussed, initiating the signals of acoustic emission. The problem of spectral analysis and synthesis of acoustic emission signals was solved with the help of Fourier transform. The dependence of acoustic vibrations spectra on the size of the medium parameters and microstructure has been discussed, as well.
W artykule przedstawiony jednowymiarowy, dyskretno-ciągły model wyznaczania energii widma sygnału akustycznego, który pozwala na filtrowanie jego składowych widmowych. Rozwiązano formalizm matematyczny opisujący środowisko, inicjujący emisję sygnałów akustycznych, w którym problem analizy widmowej i syntezy emisji sygnałów akustycznych został rozwiązany z pomocą transformaty Fouriera. Przedyskutowano także wpływ widma wibracji akustycznych na wielkość parametrów ośrodka i jego mikrostrukturę.

At present, solutions of many practical problems require signicant computational resources and systems (grids, clouds, clusters etc.), which provide appropriate means are constantly evolving. The capability of the systems to full quality of service requirements pose new challenges for the developers. One of the well-known approaches to increase system performance is the use of optimal scheduling (dispatching) policies. In this paper the special case of the general problem of nding optimal allocation policy in the heterogeneous n-server system processing xed size jobs is considered. There are two servers working independently at constant but di erent speeds. Each of them has a dedicated queue (of innite capacity) in front of it. Jobs of equal size arrive at the system. Inter-arrival times are i.i.d. random variables with general distribution with nite mean. Each job upon arrival must be immediately dispatched to one of the two queues wherefrom it will be served in FCFS manner (no pre-emption). The objective is the minimization of mean job sojourn time in the system. It is known that under this objective the optimal policy is of threshold type. The authors propose scalable fast iterative non-simulation algorithm for approximate calculation of the policy parameter (threshold). Numerical results are given.

With the rapid advancement of digital processors, filters have been commonly implemented using microcomputers. In this study, a low-cost and compact Arduino Uno development board was used to realize digital lead and lag compensators. Arduino boards are very affordable. Consequently, they were investigated to see if they were capable of preserving the frequency response of continuous-time compensators. The experiments required a set of equipment including a function generator, an Arduino Uno development board, a PC-based oscilloscope, and a laptop. The signal frequency was varied from 0 to 500 Hz. Two discretization methods were employed, namely bilinear transformation and matched pole-zero mapping. The results showed that an Arduino Uno board can be utilized to implement lead and lag compensators to some extent. The discrete-time compensator preserved the capability of filtering out certain frequencies. The change in DC gain was negligible, however, there was a significant difference in the cut-off frequency and transient slope. For both discretization methods, the frequency responses at high frequency experienced a rippling profile.

Positive continuous–time and discrete–time linear electrical circuits with zero transfer matrices are addressed. It is shown that there exists a large class of positive electrical circuits with zero transfer matrices. The electrical circuits are unreachable, unobservable and unstable for all values of the resistances, inductances and capacitances. The discrete–time linear positive electrical circuits are introduced. It is shown that: 1) the discrete–time electrical circuit is asymptotically stable for all values of the discretization step if and only if the corresponding continuous–time electrical circuit is asymptotically stable; 2) the discretization of the continuous–time electrical circuit does not change their reachability, observability and transfer matrices.
