Opis:: The paper addresses key problems of modern democracy and its instability in the context of social change. The author claims that civil disobedience along with culture of non-conformism play a crucial role among the institutions of which democratic order consists. Civil disobedience is a factor of democratic stability even though its occurrence may seem to be incidental. The main reason for this claim is the fact that civil disobedience defines democratic values transcending the rule of law i. e. values that constantly define the socially desired form of the civil community and its understanding of justice.

Opis:: This paper presents an exploration of the dynamics of contemporary protest movements in the digital age, focusing specifically on the Women’s Strike protests in Poland. Through its application of sociological diffusion theory, the study investigates the ways in which these movements adopt and adapt protest strategies through the lens of semiotics, language, and cultural references in the context of the Internet's influence. By drawing on various sources, including social media, the paper examines the role of hashtag activism, metaphor, profanity, and cultural tropes in shaping the discourse and symbolic expression of dissent. The globalisation of protest, particularly through the use of English as a lingua franca, is highlighted as a significant aspect of the evolving protest rhetoric in the Polish Women’s Strikes that took place in the years 2016, 2020, and 2021. Opis:: The present paper attempts to throw some light on the conundrum of Socrates’ political views in the Apology and Crito. The problem resides in that the Socrates of the Apology evidently undermines the authority of Athenian democracy, whereas the Socrates of the Crito argues that his escape from prison would be tantamount to disrespecting the state, which would in turn threaten the prosperity of the entire πόλις. The article suggests that in the two dialogues, the young Plato examines the possibility of steering a middle course between embracing relativism, on the one hand, and encouraging civil disobedience, on the other. Thus, the philosopher focuses primarily on investigating the two options, without either totally subordinating the citizen to the state, or unreflexively accepting any crude pragmatism.

Opis:: The present paper focuses on the complex relation between ethics andpolitics in Plato’s Crito. While the issue is presented from a contemporaryperspective, the problems of civil disobedience and politicalobligation are the present study’s primarily concern. Tytuł:: Unseen war? : hackers, tactical media, and their depiction in Hollywood cinema

Opis:: Emerging controversies about WikiLeaks' contribution to Donald Trump's electoral triumph and the ongoing persona-non-grata status of Edward Snowden highlight the notion of hacking in the modern world. Hackers used to be dualistically stereotyped on one hand as black hats, criminals and cyberpunk/cypherpunk hidden figures, and on the other as whistle-blowers, open access activists and hacktivists whose actions are potentially subversive. Film coverage of hackers and their tactics shows a paranoid and militarized vision of the world, with grey eminence often depicted either as a threat, or as survivors. Hence, from WarGames (1983, John Bedham), TRON (1982, Steven Lisberger) and Hackers (1995, Iain Softley) to The Fifth Estate (2013, Bill Condon), Live Free or Die Hard (2007, Len Wiseman) to Jason Bourne (2016, Paul Greengrass), hacking seems to have emerged as the avant-garde of militarized social space-as its main weapon and fundamental defence. Pop culture feeds itself with this ambiguity as long as it accommodates the dualistic needs of its receivers: a countercultural anti-hero becomes a scapegoat while a general sense of insecurity predominates. Distrust in technology and underground experts is simultaneous with redemption narratives about disclosing corporate/state/elite conspiracies and is heavily influenced by current non-cinematic events. This paper is an examination of hackers' cultural impact and their connection with tactical media through subversive actions. It becomes essential to decode their manipulated or simplified public image, especially with ongoing progressive politicization of hacking and its significance.

Opis:: In global jurisprudence and legal theory, we are currently observing a renaissance of interest in the thought of Ronald Dworkin, an outstanding legal philosopher, lawyer and humanist with an incredible sense of justice. There is still debate over the practical application of integral legal philosophy. Dworkin’s philosophy marks the “third way” in the dispute between legal positivism and the natural law approach. Using Dworkin’s concept of law, an attempt can be made to answer the question to what extent can the conscience of a person holding the office of a judge influence the process of making/applying law? The desire to look for positive patterns of creating and reforming law pushes us to analyze recent changes through the prism of Dworkin’s philosophy. The previous years have revealed to us a universal value and feature of our legal system a judge who interprets the law becomes the central figure of legal culture.
W światowym prawoznawstwie i teorii prawniczej obserwujemy dziś renesans zainteresowania myślą Ronalda Dworkina, wybitnego filozofa prawa, prawnika a także humanisty odznaczającego się niebywałym wyczuciem sprawiedliwości. Nadal toczy się debata nad praktycznym zastosowanie integralnej filozofii prawa. Filozofia Dworkina wytycza „trzecią drogę” w sporze między pozytywizmem prawniczym a ujęciem prawno-naturalnym. Korzystając z koncepcji prawa Dworkina, można podjąć próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie – w jakim stopniu sumienie osoby sprawującej urząd sędziego może mieć wpływ na proces stanowienia/stosowania prawa? Chęć poszukiwania pozytywnych wzorców tworzenia i reformowania prawa, popycha w kierunku poddania analizie ostatnich zmian przez pryzmat filozofii Dworkina. Poprzednie lata objawiły nam uniwersalną wartość i cechę naszego systemu prawnego – sędzia który interpretuje prawo staje się centralną postacią kultury prawnej. Polega on na swoich przekonaniach, ich sprawiedliwości i spójności.

Opis:: The aim of this article is to study the underpinnings of the matrixial theory introduced by Bracha L. Ettinger, and her installation in the Freud Museum – to be more precise, Freud’sstudy room – so as to examine their paradoxical status in Freudian‑Lacanian space(s). As I attempt to show, both parts of Ettinger’s activity are not against the Law of the Father, but rather they constantly dis‑obey his rules; Ettinger tirelessly endeavours to include the Mother alongside the paternal order. We thus observe not so much the rejection of Freud’s and Lacan’s paradigms as the movement on their boundaries and their subsequent transgression – and this may be seen as the greatest promise Ettinger provides us with.
