Opis:: A problem of wave identification is formulated. We propose a diagnostic analysis of medium disturbances based on distinguishing of components of a wave vector that is specific for each kind of the wave mode. Mathematically it is realized by projection operator technique. An example is considered in conditions of a one-dimensional Cauchy problem for a conventional wave equation in the matrix form and its version with weakly x-dependent coefficients as a demonstration of the method application for the simplest adiabatic theory of one-dimensional acoustics. The case of acoustics in a gas with a dissipation account is also discussed from the point of view of the wave and entropy mode diagnostics.

Wyciąga wnioski odnośnie do kierunku terapii zaburzeń odżywiania, która koncentrować się winna na przygotowaniu pacjentek do odpowiedzialnego podejmowania ról dorosłej kobiety. Polegać mogłaby z jednej strony na wzmacnianiu emocjonalnych i psychicznych zasobów pacjentek, a z drugiej strony na budowaniu bardziej spójnego obrazu kobiecości oraz bardziej jednoznacznych i wyważonych postaw wobec sfery seksualnej i płci przeciwnej.
This article is dedicated to the subject o f eating disorders in the context of sexual development o f women in adolescence and early adulthood. Epidemiological and symptomatological data on eating disorders was reviewed and results o f empirical studies on the sexuality o f females with eating disorders as well as several theoretical concepts dedicated to these disorders were analysed. The results o f our study, which included 73 females with eating disorders has been also presented. Methods used in the study: Life Check List, and Sentence Completion Test (SCT), a Self-rating Scale on Eating Disorders (FSE). The results suggest a comorbidity o f eating disorders and negative attitude towards both sexuality and males neglecting sexual behaviour.

Tytuł:: Dream-reality confusion in borderline personality disorder : a theoretical analysis

Opis:: This paper presents an analysis of dream-reality confusion (DRC) in relation to the characteristics of borderline personality disorder (BPD), based on research findings and theoretical considerations. It is hypothesized that people with BPD are more likely to experience DRC compared to people in non-clinical population. Several variables related to this hypothesis were identified through a theoretical analysis of the scientific literature. Sleep disturbances: problems with sleep are found in 15-95.5% of people with BPD (Hafizi, 2013), and unstable sleep and wake cycles, which occur in BPD (Fleischer et al., 2012), are linked to DRC. Dissociation: nearly two-thirds of people with BPD experience dissociative symptoms (Korzekwa and Pain, 2009) and dissociative symptoms are correlated with a fantasy proneness; both dissociative symptoms and fantasy proneness are related to DRC (Giesbrecht and Merckelbach, 2006). Negative dream content: People with BPD have nightmares more often than other people (Semiz et al., 2008); dreams that are more likely to be confused with reality tend to be more realistic and unpleasant, and are reflected in waking behavior (Rassin et al., 2001). Cognitive disturbances: Many BPD patients experience various cognitive disturbances, including problems with reality testing (Fiqueierdo, 2006; Mosquera et al., 2011), which can foster DRC. Thin boundaries: People with thin boundaries are more prone to DRC than people with thick boundaries, and people with BPD tend to have thin boundaries (Hartmann, 2011). The theoretical analysis on the basis of these findings suggests that people who suffer from BPD may be more susceptible to confusing dream content with actual waking events.

Opis:: Secondary succession is a long and complicated natural process returning forests to post agricultural lands, whereas afforestation is an attempt to speed up this process by planting trees. Massive afforestation in the twentieth century brought an increase in forest area in Poland along with management problems in these areas due to disturbances caused by root diseases. Therefore it appears necessary to employ successional processes more fully in order to create sustainable forest ecosystems.

Opis:: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is common inflammatory dermatosis, typically with chronic and recurrent course, which significantly reduces the quality of life. Sleep disturbances are considered to be remarkably burdensome ailments in patients with AD, and are routinely included during assessment of disease severity. Therefore, endogenous substances engaged in the control of circadian rhythms might be important in pathogenesis of AD and, possibly, be used as biomarkers of disease severity or even in development of novel therapies. Melatonin (MT), the indoleamine produced by pineal gland (but also by multiple other tissues, including skin), plays a pivotal role in maintaining the sleep/wake homeostasis. Additionally, it possesses strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which might directly link chronic skin inflammation and sleep abnormalities characteristic of AD. The objective of this work is to systematically present and summarize the results of studies (both experimental and clinical) that investigated the role of MT in the AD, with a focus on the antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects of MT.

Opis:: W artykule omówiono budowę systemu do rejestracji zakłóceń falowych i wiatrowych, który stosowany jest podczas badań układów sterowania przeprowadzanych na izomorficznych modelach statków na jeziorze Silm koło Iławy. Pomiar zakłóceń wiatrowych wykonywany jest anemometrem ultradźwiękowym. Do pomiaru falowania wykorzystano czujnik pojemnościowy, który zmienia swoją pojemność w zależności od zanurzenia w wodzie. System mikroprocesorowy umieszczony w mierniku zapewnia pośredni pomiar pojemności czujnika falowania, odczyt parametrów wiatru z anemometru, a także retransmisję pomierzonych danych poprzez łącze radiowe do komputera rejestrującego.
The paper presents a design of the system for registration of wind and wave disturbances. The system is useful for investigations of control systems performed on isomorphic ship models on the Silm Lake near Iława. An ultrasonic anemometer has been used for wind disturbance measurements. In order to measure the wave level measurement a capacity sensor has been used. It changes its capacitance due to immersion in water. A microprocessor system performs indirect measurements of the wave sensor capacitance. Moreover, it receives the measurement data from an anemometer and transmits them to a registering computer through a radio link (Fig. 1).

Tytuł:: Usefulness of magnetic resonanse imaging of the brain for diagnosis of sleep disturbances : preliminare raport

Opis:: We studied sleep disturbances reported by patients admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine. According to history of disease in each case the sleep disturbances had a chronic character and lasted several months. All patients received the questionnaire we designed. The idea of the questionnaire was to objectively assess the disorder. We assumed that there are rational medical indications for MRI of the brain examination in the selected group of 10 patients. Our study proved that this imaging technique (MRI) is very useful in detection of ischemic lesions related to long-term sleep disturbances. Lesions of the type are observed in most patients with such disturbances. The lesions we found in the socalled "sleep areas" have also been discussed in other papers published recently.

Opis:: The article analyses the applicability of selected smoothing methods to smooth indicator diagram curves and to filter disturbances. An intermediate goal of the study was an attempt to extract disturbances recorded during pressure curve smoothing, which are believed to be a source of important diagnostic information. Within the framework of the reported analysis, a comparison was made between the moving average method, the Savitzky-Golay filter, and the frequency filtration method. The research was performed on a marine medium-speed engine Sulzer 3Al 25/30, which has a relatively long indicator passage.
